2019 Faculty Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity
STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT FREDONIA
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dennis L. Hefner, Ph.D.
The boundaries of human knowledge are extended and enriched through the research, scholarship, and creative activities of university faculty. This annual publication is a compilation from the past 12 months of the professional activities and achievements of SUNY Fredonia’s faculty. The depth and breadth of these professional accomplishments are impressive, as is the number of projects in which students are involved. The professional growth that accompanies these activities serves to make our faculty better teachers, as they bring these real world results back into the classroom to share with our students. Collaborations on joint student-faculty research allow students to expand their knowledge and research skills by working side-by-side with a faculty mentor. Some of the best learning on this campus occurs during these joint student-faculty research projects. I am proud of the professional achievements of our faculty and congratulate everyone featured in this publication.
Dennis L. Hefner, Ph.D. Interim President
MESSAGE FROM THE PROVOST

Kevin Kearns, Ph.D.
This publication is rich with faculty accomplishments — original research, scholarly publications, creative work with students, plays, grants, performances and more. Faculty research and creative activities are central to the success of our students. I am proud of the excellent work of the Fredonia faculty highlighted in the 2019 Faculty Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity summary.
Kevin Kearns, Ph.D. Interim Provost
