This special section has been published for the first-ever Fredericksburg StandardRadio Post Readers’ Choice Awards. The online contest tallied 53,000-plus votes in 160 categories for our town’s favorite foods, drinks, servers, services and much more.

Winners have bragging rights as Gillespie County’s 2020 Readers’ Choice award winner and will also receive a banner to place in their business, home or office.

As businesses struggled through the pandemic, the newspaper wanted a way to let readers show their appreciation to our hard-working small businesses.

“We are proud to give support to our local businesses during these trying times,” said Kim Jung, Standard-Radio Post advertising director. “We congratulate the winners and thank all who made nominations and participated in our first-ever contest.”

Publisher Ken Cooke said this contest will be held again and let Gillespie County citizens support their favorite businesses.

“Small businesses are absolutely the backbone of our local economy, and this is one way to recognize their efforts,” Cooke said. “And we hope everyone supports our small businesses with their gift-purchases this holiday season.”
