LETTER FROM We Rent Apartments... ...And We're So Much More

A colleague used to remind me in stressful situations to relax. “Laura, we’re not brain surgeons and we’re not curing cancer. We rent apartments.” At the time, I’d laugh it off and check myself. The more I spend time in property management however, the more I realize how FALSE this statement was, at least in its diminishment of the importance and value of what we do each day that impacts the lives of others. We don’t just rent apartments – we help people find their homes. Beyond that, we’re agents, counselors, dog sitters, babysitters, or simply a friendly face they needed on a bad day.

In follow-up to Brett’s company update from June, we’re in the process of selling a few assets in the portfolio. Synergy at the Mayfair Collection and The Bevy are among the assets for sale.

For me, these are near and dear... true labors of love. Brett touched on a number of things that lead to a company’s decision to sell and the ability to take value, capitalize, and reinvest to make our company continue to grow.

Value is derived from a number of factors. Consider our market surveys; we assign value to a number of tangible items, from location and age, to a property’s walkability and interior finishes. Not all are so easily quantifiable, however. We know it to be true, but it’s our PEOPLE who build value in our communities. They are the foundation of our reputation and leave lasting impressions with all those they interact with.

This article is a sincere Thank You to our PEOPLE for all they contribute each day, to our stabilized sites, those we build and those that we may choose to sell. Without you, we’re just bricks and mortar. You are our FRONT LINE and we thank you.
