(1 Thessalonians 4:9-12) 9 Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another, 10 for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, 11 and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12 so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one. Recap from Last Week Question: Why do cities matter to the world? Answer: Cities are the economic centers that shape culture, innovation, and ideas. Question: Why do cities matter to God? Answer: The Bible reveals that the city is the place of spiritual battles. Question: How are we, as Christians, to live in the city? Four Mindsets: 1. Use the city for our benefit. 2. Constantly dream of leaving the city. 3. Enjoy the city, but not love it. 4. Be a missionary to the city. (Philippians 3:20) But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Question: How does our new citizenship effect how we live in the meantime? 1 Live a life that rests in God. 2. Live a life of personal responsibility. 3. Live a life that gives life to others.
