WELCOME We firstly wanted to extend a very special welcome to all the newest Release Three residents. We’re so thrilled to see the MQ community growing as we move into the final few months of construction. We’ve seen so much wonderful work being done in the community development space, with residents coming together to create the Body Corporate Committee, a Social Club and MQ Book Club – all in the effort to connect with one another and create a strong, supportive community.

We’re looking forward to sharing some important updates with you in this latest newsletter, including some good news stories to celebrate this wonderful community. The dog wash is nearing completion, as the final stages of installing fencing and landscaping to the space are completed in the next fortnight. We look forward to opening this space soon for residents and furry friends to enjoy.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Our build contractor Greyburn are progressing well onsite, with all Release Three homes now settled. This now shifts their focus to the final release homes, all of which are on schedule to be settled in September and October. The Frasers Property team have now completed all defect inspections for those homes constructed under our previous contractor Condev. We will continue to guide all residents through this rectification process, with a view to reallocate resources towards this work post settlement of Release Four homes.

More broadly across the community, the circular boulevard is starting to shape up wonderfully, with kerb, asphalt and visitor parking bay works under construction. The timing for this to open for use by the community is forecast for October.

The Fursden Road entry to the community is also progressing well, with cobblestone now in place. In addition, landscaping to common areas is continuing across the community, establishing well as we move into spring.

A final note and a lovely update from the Real Utilities team, with the Queensland Government recently announcing a $175 Cost of Living Rebate for Households which, as an MQ resident, you are eligible for. Look out for the payment that will be automatically credited to your September bill by Real Utilities.

UPCOMING EVENTS There are some wonderful, resident-led events coming up over the coming weeks, creating opportunities to meet your neighbours and get to know one another. Mark these dates on your calendar and enjoy getting to know your new community.

Social Club update A group of wonderful residents in the community have started a Social Club and invite you to get involved to create some wonderful events for the residents of MQ. The first event was held over the weekend, and the Social Club committee look forward to announcing some exciting news about upcoming events in the coming weeks.

Coffee catch-ups Pat will be on site at the MQ Residents Quarter every Saturday from 8am to 12 noon.

Minnippi Golf Course

MQ Book Club It is great to see the Book Club rolling on successfully at MQ. The club now has a separate Facebook page set up to keep all the members up to date. If you’re interested in taking part, please reach out to Pete and Di who will be able to point you in the right direction.

The $25M 18-hole Minnippi Golf course is expected to be ready by late 2022. The latest progress update indicates that the course will be ready this year, with the club house and supporting facilities to be launched in 2023.

Brisbane City Council have recently appointed Clublinks to manage the facility, with plans to incorporate community events such as laser tag, barefoot putting, live music, night golf, outdoor cinemas, group Pilates and yoga. WHAT’S HAPPENING IN CARINA There are some exciting initiatives happening across the Carina community, you can keep up to date with what’s going on here https://www.facebook.com/groups/carinaco mmunityand4152. Below are a couple of key events and updates to keep an eye on.

Local music event Music in Minnippi is a pop-up music concert held on the second Sunday of every month, located by the duck pond viewing platform at Minnippi Parklands. It’s a free community event created by local Cr Lisa Atwood of Doboy Ward. Get along and enjoy the glorious spring weather – the next event is on October 9 @ 2pm.

BODY CORPORATE COMMITTEE UPDATE As the MQ community grows, it would be wonderful for all residents to remember to be mindful of safety, looking out for one another and taking the time to ensure our community is well kept and looking tidy.

Here are a few ways we can all assist, thank you for your co-operation.

Driving safely on entry and exit to the community is everyone’s responsibility. The recommended speed limit in a community of our size is 10km per hour.

As we transition into spring, our community and private garden spaces will start to really take off, although we have a garden maintenance team, an easy way to keep things neat and tidy is to pick a weed if you see one, every little bit helps. Finally, we’d love to see more new faces at the committee meetings, feel free to reach out if you’d like to attend.
