H: Well, a lot of what we think of as present day land-based

H: There were two main industries here. Firstly, anything

R: Is that why the airport is where it is?

H: Not quite. If it hadn’t been for the war, the airport wouldn’t be where it is. They really thought Archerfield on the other side of the City was going to be the main airport.

But it was during the war that they realised a lot more land was needed. And the Eagle Farm area, once a large cotton field, was perfect.
