Landscaping your home at As part of the design review and approval process at Brookhaven, we require that a full landscaping plan be provided for approval. This landscaping plan can be hand drawn, but must adhere to the Brookhaven Design Guidelines to ensure that your landscaping complements the surrounding neighbourhood and the beautiful streetscapes for which Brookhaven is known. Fencing and landscaping should be completed prior to occupancy of your home.
What you need to do IF YOUR BUILDER IS COMPLETING YOUR FENCING AND LANDSCAPING
Sit down with your builder and this checklist to ensure that each of these components have been considered in your pricing package and incorporated into the submission to the Design Review Panel.
IF YOU PLAN TO COMPLETE YOUR LANDSCAPING AND FENCING YOURSELF OR HIRE SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOUR BUILDER OR
Review the relevant pages of the Brookhaven Design Guidelines and complete a sketch of how you plan to deliver your landscaping. This sketch must then be submitted to the Design Review Panel for approval.
The submitted plans must include the following detail: LAWNS
BIN STORAGE AND SCREENING
• Location, area and type of turf to be used
• Location
• Front yard must include garden beds and cannot be turf only
• Screening specification (if required)
AREAS OF HARDSTAND (DRIVEWAYS, ENTRY PATHS)
• Location, area and finish of hardstand areas (if not detailed elsewhere)
RETAINING (IF PROPOSED) • Location, length, height, type and finish
FENCING (SIDE AND RETURN FENCING) • Location, type, colour and specification (height, finish etc) • Colorbond fencing is not permitted • Fencing forward of house must be compliant feature fencing
LETTERBOXES
(MUST COMPLIMENT STYLE OF HOUSE)
• Location, type and colour
LANDSCAPING - THREE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Feature trees - type/species, sizes and locations • Garden beds - plant species, sizes and locations • Driveway garden bed - dimensions, plus plant species, sizes and locations LANDSCAPING AND FENCING COMPLIANCE IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE YOUR $1,000 COMPLIANCE REBATE (IF APPLICABLE)
