On Campus

Extra Precautions Our community will be following the directives of the Provincial Health Office, BC Ministry of Education and WorkSafe BC. Here are some of the new operational measures being implemented:

Physical Distancing Measures Learning Cohorts. To reduce the number of in-person interactions, all students will stay with their designated learning cohort: Grades 2-4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9/10, 11/12. All students will have lanyards denoting their cohort. Directional traffic in hallways. Breaks and lunches in designated areas. Additional classroom space: the “North Campus” has been acquired for senior students. Campus access is limited. Parents and other visitors will require pre-booked appointments, with meetings held on ZOOM when possible.

Sanitizing and Cleaning Practices Hand washing and sanitizer stations have been installed in the school foyer and in classrooms. Improved disinfecting system used by janitorial staff. Increase in frequency of building cleaning. Additional air filter systems have been installed. Windows and doors will be propped open for ventilation when possible.

What’s New In the School Day Masks. Everyone at school is required to wear non-medical masks,

except Gr 2-4s while in their classroom. Students may remove their masks only when they are with their cohort outside or to eat. Two masks will be provided, or, students are welcome to wear their own solid, neutral colour mask (no patterns please, to avoid distraction).

Physical Distancing. Everyone must endeavour to maintain physical distancing when outside their cohort. Younger children are encouraged to avoid physical contact and will receive regular reminders to ‘keep your hands to yourself.’

Clean Hands. Everyone is encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands more often.

Lockers. Gr 7-12 students will not have access to lockers, and must

carry all personal items with them throughout the day; Gr 2-6 students will be assigned a locker.

Items. All school owned materials must stay at school. Only school

supplies and food/drinks are to be brought from home (no other personal items), and...contrary to what we normally would encourage: no sharing of physical items.

Food. We strongly encourage students to bring their own snacks and lunch from home. Students will eat outdoors or at their cohort designated locations. Students must not share food.

Drop-off/Pick-up. Drop-off starts at 7:45 am and students are expected to go directly to their classrooms. No students are permitted in the school building after 4:00 pm. If your child is late, please advise them to queue outside of the front entrance until they are let in. © Fraser Academy

Health Check Everyday Before School Stay home when sick. Students with

a common cold, influenza, or COVID-19 like symptoms (even if mild) must not enter school.

Daily health screening: Every morning at home, ask these questions: Does your child have the symptoms of a common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease? Has your child been outside Canada in the last 14 days? Has your child been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case or outbreak?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, you must keep your child at home, self-isolate, and seek care from a health-care provider.
