The Weight of Dreams è il racconto di ciò che sta alle nostre spalle. Risultato finale di 7 anni di ricerca fra interviste, testi, reperti, fotografie e video. The Weight of Dreams si sporge nel mondo dei camionisti per descrivere lo stato dei nostri sogni fra bulimia dei bisogni, sovraesposizione ai segni e ripristino del desiderio. Il progetto è anche la ricerca di una narrazione antropologica: più che un‘indagine sulla circolazione delle merci, la condivisione della vita che si consuma nel loro trasporto. Un viaggio a cavallo del paradosso che attraversa i nostri tempi. Da una parte c‘è il ricordo della libertà dono della società del benessere. Dall‘altro la constatazione che l‘incarnazione della stessa nella sola circolazione delle merci e dei segni ne erode, nel peso quotidiano, il valore.
The Weight of Dreams tells the story of what is left behind us. It is the result of a 7-year long research process, which consists in interviews, texts, items, pictures and videos. The Weight of Dreams investigates the world of truck drivers, in order to describe our own dreams, caught among unnecessary needs, overexposition to communication and the desire to get back to the essence. The projects is also an anthropological narration, focusing on real life events taking place during the transportation of goods, rather than on goods themselves. On one side, there is the mass consumption society and it‘s memory of freedom, on the other side the ascertainment that freight and signs transportation erodes, day by day, its value.
