Singapore Gymnastics Karen Norden (Singapore)

Singapore Gymnastics (SG) was officially registered as the National Sports Association for gymnastics on 24 July 2003, following its endorsement by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) and Sport Singapore (SS). The organisation gained recognition from the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) in December 2003, solidifying its affiliation with the international gymnastics community. Additionally, SG obtained charity status in December 2010 and was granted the distinction of being an Institution of a Public Character (IPC), enabling the association to receive tax-deductible donations.

Presently, SG is undertaking an ambitious strategic plan to revolutionise the presence of gymnastics throughout Singapore. The organisation seeks to establish gymnastics as a foundational sport accessible to all, enriching the lives of individuals across the entire island.

Key objectives within SG's strategy include the cultivation of a robust membership base, positioning Singapore as a leader in governance and child safety within the gymnastics domain, and exploring avenues to diversify revenue streams, thereby strengthening the organisation's financial reserves. SG aims to become the premier sport in Singapore by adopting best practices and ensuring that all providers offer secure environments for children.

In collaboration with local clubs, SG endeavours to deliver safe, enjoyable, and fulfilling experiences for gymnastics participants, fostering personal growth and benefiting the wider community. The organisation aims to elevate the profile of gymnastics and encourage greater participation through targeted and inclusive programs designed for children aged zero to five, disengaged youth, and mature individuals. To achieve this, SG intends to enhance the capacity and capabilities of community centres, clubs, schools, as well as volunteers and coaches.

Moreover, SG is committed to developing an innovative, sustainable, and successful highperformance infrastructure to support and nurture world-class athletes. Through an athletecentric approach and the implementation of a high-performance plan, SG aims to foster podium success and strengthen the bonds within the gymnastics community.

However, SG's aspirations extend beyond its current endeavours. The organisation aspires to become a world-class hub for gymnastics, fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration in the sport on a global scale.
