How to Decide Y o ur Co s t um e

Halloween: a fun time to dress up and get candy, but the question is where did this tradition come from? It originated with the ancient Celtic Festival of Samhain.

People would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghost. The evening before is All Hallows’ Eve and later called Halloween. Around the world as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder this holiday is still celebrated.

Except it is all about the candy & costumes and not about scaring off ghosts.

Are you having trouble deciding what costume to wear, I am here to help.

What is the first emotion that comes to you when you think about Halloween?

Is it happy, sad, or scared? This is where you start. Take that idea and see what something that makes you feel that emotion is. For example: if you feel happy and puppies make you happy, dress up as a puppy. If you are scared and zombies make you scared, dress up as that. If you still do not know what to dress up as, think about your favorite color and let that help you decide. You could always ask your friends and go as a matching pair. Have a great Halloween.

34 students have participated in voting for their favorite Halloween candy. Airheads and Reese’s tied with 10 votes. I honestly put airheads in there as a place holder and did not think that it was this popular. Candy corn is a popular Halloween candy but not as many people as I thought voted for it.

Candy corn got second place with 6 votes. Skittles got 5 votes and finally, Snickers chocolate bar got 3 votes. Enjoy all the Halloween candy!!

Editorials Book Review By: Bailey Bonde

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle A Wrinkle in Time is a thrilling science fiction adventure. The reader is taken on a journey through time and space with the main character, Meg Murry. Meg is an impatient, insecure, awkward high school student. She embarks on an adventure to rescue her dad from evil forces. I may not know anyone like her, but the character is described so well, it sure seems like I do. The book takes place on Earth, Camazotz, Ixchel, and “tesseracts”. You'll have to read the book to find more about these wondrous places. Madeleine L’Engle describes the setting with such amazing detail, it's as if she were there. She weaves an intricate web of words that is incredibly entertaining. When Meg frees Charles Wallace from IT, I was moved deeply by this heartfelt action. Considering how much I loved this book, it certainly will make a good movie. Tesser well!

Restaurant Review By: Ashling Barrett

Vui’s Kitchen Vui’s Kitchen is fresh, fast and healthy Vietnamese’s.

The restaurant is located at 2832 Bransford Ave in Nashville, TN. My mom, my sister and I went here for a very yummy lunch. We all shared the fresh spring rolls, Pho (soup) and Bun (noodle bowl). They have a great menu and the restaurant is indoors and outdoors, you choose! I would recommend it for lunch, but it is open until 9 PM and you have an option of take out or eat in. I would recommend this place because the setting is great and it is the best Vietnamese I have ever had!

The Panther Sports Prints NBA By: Gavin Kent & Gavin Gadsey NBA The NBA preseason just ended. This off season has been crazy. The Cavaliers traded Kyrie Irving to the Celtics for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizi, and the 2018 first-round pick. The Pacers traded Paul George to the Thunder for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. The Rockets received Chris Paul for many players. The nuggets traded for Paul Milsaup. Jimmy Butler also got traded to the Timberwolves. Those are the trades for the 2017 season then the draft came up Marrkelle Fultz was the number one pick. Lonzo Ball was the second Jayson Taytom was third. The summer league started and Lonzo won MVP. The start of the NBA season started Gordon Hayward had a horrible injury.

But the Cavs came out with the win. The Rockets beat the Warriors by one (122-121) heart breaking loss for the Warriors. The NBA season is going to be exiting, we predict the Cavs to win the finals.

NFL By: Charlie Holmes & Charlie Speed NFL Weeks 5-8: This week there were two HUGE injuries both in the leg. Odell Beckham JR and JJ Watt. The Giants going from a bad season to a disastrous season. OBJ most likely out for the season and will need surgery. JJ Watt will be back by week 1315. It will be interesting how the Texans will do without JJ. The Chiefs continue to win by just riding on their number 1 defense and their rookie star in Kareem Hunt. The surprising 4-1 Panthers play the 4-1 Eagles. It will be a good matchup on a Thursday Night Football. It will deďŹ nitely be a quarterback battle with the 2 year player in Carson Wentz vs the 6 year veteran Cam Newton.

This week another disastrous injury but this time it happened to the Packers with Aaron Rodgers. He is out for the season with a broken collarbone. Just another injury for the Packers after just about all of his Wide Receivers at one point of the season were hurt. So now we'll talk about the good things that happened in week 6. The Thursday Night Showdown went to the Eagles as Carson Wentz threw for 3 touchdowns and 222 yards against a red hot Panthers defense. One of the big parts of the game was Luke Kuechly to the Eagles as Carson Wentz threw for 3 touchdowns and 222 yards against a red hot Panthers defense.

Also in the game Luke Kuechly had a concussion and was out for the end of the game. It was his third concussion in the last three years. That was the recap for the last two weeks. There was some good and bad times for teams in the NFL.
