Computational Drawing Phase one of this project investigates a sphereical sample from Steven Holl ’s , The Chapel of St. Igantius , through a drawing using one system of lines . My vision is to show invisible sur faces by highlighting the ricochet that occurs at the intersection of sur face
and line. Each line has a ricochet resulting from the series of lines projected towards the sur faces . The idea that these sur faces can only be seen through the passing of time, and conditions of their atmosphere, questions their role as a boundar y of def ined space.

In the second phase, I wanted to manipulate the relationship be t ween these sur f aces, and the forces ac ting upon it. Providing these sur f aces with the responsibilit y of ac ting as a shield, they began to take on more of a role as wall, or as something that provides an inhabited architec ture. T hese coded lines have been altered to introduce variable forces such as wind,
and direc tional changes to tes t these sur f aces. T he visibilit y of these boundaries only become apparent when they ac t as a shielding for the occupier.

Computational Drawing
The f inal phase presents these sur faces as something that has been processed by their environment, and transformed into an af fected sample. This sample is then used to project an architecture based on its DNA . Pipes which dictate the ver tical circulation begin to ex trude from the sur faces of the sample, revealing paths which can be traveled until another sur face is introduced. These pipes increase in
densit y and opacit y as they approach these sur faces , constricting the inhabitable space. At this point ver tical circulation is provided, as these sur faces similar to the sample are unat tainable, yet are visually accessible.

Culinary Village
The absence of grocer y stores an lack of places to purchase af fordable produce reveals that there is a food deser t in Providence. Focusing on one of Providence’s most historical sites , Cathedral Square, an inter vention combined of residential and work space is proposed. The work space weaves
through the residential area, and of fers the residents a complete program of growing, processing and selling produce.

Providence Train Station

The Providence train station can be understood through a series of 2 operations . Opening the ground f loor to the tracks provides the plat forms with light from above. The peeling of the roof allows for the maximum pulling of light through the day, into the vessels adjacent to the opening on the ground f loor. Chelsea Urban Design
This is a housing project for Chelsea Massachuset ts , which contains 200 units for residential housing. Star ting with the unit plans and the massing model, I began to ref lect the existing topographic conditions . This sculpting, and inverse topographic form, suggests enclosure and guidance to the descending form of the ground. A path leading
to the theatre from the nor th side to the south side of the site, ends at the waiting stop for the silver-line.

Providence Urban Study
In a t wo-week charret te, an urban inter vention is created to study the non-orthographic footprint of the buildings as they bend with the road they share an edge with. The mechanism is used to straighten the bent street and to shif t the footprint of the buildings into an or thogonal order. In an at tempt to register new views from the of f ice building, as well as providence new
light for it, the sketch model reveals the new conditions and behavior of this lot.
