Haircuts has a
Franciscan Ministries’ Haircuts from the Heart program opened the doors of its new mini-salon inside Mary Magdalen House at Saint Anthony Center on December 4th.

Saint Anthony Center hosted an open house on December 12th which included tours of the new facility. It is home to seven social service agencies, including Franciscan Ministries’ Haircuts from the Heart.
Thanks to a $10,000 grant we will be able to add a part-time stylist to work at the mini-salon three days a week. That way our salon manager, Ida Mueller, can continue to offer services in the community through our mobile program.
We are thankful to the board of Mary Magdalen House for inviting us to share their space at the center. The salon encompasses space that was originally intended to be an extra bathroom off the lobby. It’s ironic then, that this summer will be the 30th anniversary of the day Haircuts from the Heart’s Founder, Sister Bonnie Steinlage, gave her first haircut, which took place at the old Mary Magdalen House…in a bathroom.
Last year, we provided over 3,500 haircuts to those in need through our mobile haircut program. And Ida was personally responsible for over 2,775! The grant is courtesy of the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, which is funded by donations from Paul Mitchell Schools and has long been a supporter of Haircuts from the Heart.
