Edito The happy news that France 4 will remain on air is a strong response to the profound changes we are experiencing on both sides of our screens. France Télévisions has equipped itself with an ecosystem for young audiences that is equal to its mission: it is maintaining permanent digital AND online broadcasting.

A few years ago, we expressed our desire to reposition TV serials. We had no idea that the channel France 4 would keep us entertained for so long. We were far from sure that it would end so well! The happy news that France 4 will remain on air is a strong response to the profound changes we are experiencing on both sides of our screens. France Télévisions has equipped itself with an ecosystem for young audiences that is equal to its mission: it is maintaining permanent digital AND online broadcasting. The only consideration for this renewed commitment lies in ambition, in the ambitions that we want to pursue with those involved in the production. First of all, to reach all audiences, by adapting the writing to the

specific needs of each of them. That of entertaining them in an inspired and inspiring way, by increasing the variety of representation and imagination, and by giving them a better understanding of the world. And to this end, the arrival of the education teams (Lumni) in the Youth Department is indicative of a strengthened edutainment approach: interest, awareness, depth, this is the triptych on which our future offer will be structured, by developing synergies between Okoo and Lumni, between online and digital.

France Télévisions’ strong and sustained commitment to animation, combined with the proactive industry policy of the CNC and the regions, makes us relatively optimistic in the admittedly complicated period the world is going through; opportunities to establish animation as a major genre have never been greater. Long live animation, and happy birthday to the greatest of all «festivals»!

Finally, the ambition to support and encourage excellence in the creation of French and European animation, particularly in the new areas of animation: family and adult audiences.
