ADIDAS SUPERSTAR X SEAN WOTHERSPOON

Sean Wotherspoon presents his second version of the adidas Originals Superstar. The iconic details that unite it to the first release are the partially unstitched embroidered flowers. The peculiarity of this new drop, however, lies in the color chosen for the upper, black. Among the other distinctive features of this exclusive sneaker: a styli-

zed character reminiscent of the Earth positioned above the laces, the blue details on the heel, the orange sockliner, the green eyelets, the yellow tongue and the “SW” monogram on the tongue and on the heel. All the shoe is made by recycled materials wich underlines the attention of Sean Wotherspoon for the nature and the planet earth.

WHO IS SEAN WOTHERSPOON?

Sean Wotherspoon is one of the most famous name sneakers-related in the world since the drop of his Airmax 1/97 in collaboration with nike in 2018.

After that he kept working on sneakers and designs with other collaboration with nike and several other brands like Vespa and Asics. Now he is working with Adidas and he already had different models signed by him, like the Adidas Orktero and the Superturf.

Wotherspoon which, has always been a sneakered, opened his first store named “Round Two” in Virginia and after winning with his Airmax 97/1 the 2018 Airmax day contest he opened a second store in New York and after that his fame started to grow.

In the last period the american brand has returned to being relevant not only among a more adult target of people or in the running and sports section, but it is also attracting great interest among young people thanks to the rejuvenation process initiated by the brand with the launch of various new silhouettes and collaborations: starting from the 550 in collaboration with Aime Leon Dore released in 2019 which then

led to the revival of the brand and other shoe models such as the 990 v2, the 990 v3, the 520, the 2002r and the 2002r “protection pack”. The brand equity is grown exponentially in recent years going to shorten the distances with the main competitors like Nike, Adidas and Asics, also thanks to the depopulation of the brand on tiktok where there are thousands of videos of outfits wearing a silhouette signed by the Boston house on their feet.

The Nike Airmax 1 borns in 1990, designed by Thinker Atfield. It was the first sneaker made by the company of Beaverton (Oregon) that presents a visibile “Air” unit, besides the air technologyw was already used in different iconic sneakers like the Air Force 1’s and the Air Jordan 1’s.

The Airmax 90 is a shoe that maintains a unique position in sneaker history, the Nike Air Max 90 carries with it some pressure. After all, this sneaker, like most others, does not release in a vacuum. In fact, it originally exists not as the Airmax 90, but the Air Max III. It’s a follow-up project, a craft by Tinker, to follow up the runaway success of the Air Max 1. Just prior to the AM 90’s release, the Air Max line is wrapping up a period that sees Nike completely take over the runners game. All of a sudden, both the performance and culture aspect of running sneakers starts and ends with the Swoosh.

The Nike Air Max Plus Tuned 1, was designed in 1998 by Sean McDowell, the design of this shoe came from a 1997 silhouette project named Sky Air, that Nike was working on with the famous Foot Locker franchise. The idea was to create a new running shoe that would use Tuned Air “Tn” technology Nike had presented over 15 proposals to Foot Locker before McDowell’s design won them over, but the process wasn’t all smooth sailing.

The Nike Air Max 97 debuted in 1997, the silhouette, Designed by Christian Tresser, the model has historically been marketed as inspired by Japan’s bullet trains and water raindrops. Furthermore, the sneaker’s original “Metallic Silver” colorway, wich had a huge succes during the years, is inspired by mountain biking, in fact during the ‘90s, most equipment and accessories for the sport were clad in titanium and silver colors.

ADIDAS COLLABORATION WITH KERWIN FROST

Adidas has dropped is second Adidas Forum entirely designed by Kerwin Frost to bring us a collection of eye catching pieces, capturing what is best about Kerwin and the brand with 3 stripes. A forum is a place for expression, which is exactly what the adidas Forum shoes have been about since their debut on the court. They’re the perfect canvas for fun loving, shape-shifting entertainer Kerwin Frost’s vision, with eyes and mouths mingling with the Forum’s most iconic details.

The shoes were released alongside an apparel line that includes denim shorts, T-shirts and track suits, the entire collection featureas a shooting with the chicago rapper Chief Keef as a Model .

This is not the first shoe released by the young New York designer in collaboration with the german sportswear brand, in fact in the past he released a multi-colored Forum Low with funky characters on the side and two different Adidas Microbounce a light blue one with a furry upper and another mesh one with panels of different colors.

18 WHO IS KERWIN FROST?

Kerwin Frost is undoubtely one of the most eclectic figures in the industry right now. Born in 1995, the New York Artist has always been interested in fashion, he started his career around 2014 in SoHo, founding the “Spaghetti Boys” Collective with some different relevant streetwear figures like

Luka Sabbat, Sheck Wes and others. He always has been involved in art, also detaching himself from music, in 2018 he worked together with Kanye West and Kid Cudi for the creation of three videos of songs from the album Kids See Ghosts and embarking on a career such as DJ, playing during various parades brands such as Moncler and Palm Angels. In 2020 he begins his collaboration with adidas.
