The Franklin Park Ice Arena offers Let’s Skate Public Sessions seven days a week. Lunch hour skates are a relaxing break from work. Our weekend sessions are conveniently scheduled in the afternoon and evening. Reasonably priced, fun, and always a great time to enjoy with family and friends. You’ll see it in every part of your visit here, but the quality shows especially in our ice surface. It’s unparalleled! Here at the Franklin Park Ice Arena, we have the experience to do it right. It’s simple: We give you a comfortable place and a perfect sheet of ice–every time!

Studio Arena 60’ x 80’

Our smaller ice surface is suited for groups of 50 or fewer. Skating parties for friends, church socials, scouts, clubs or corporate groups are popular. The Studio Arena is the perfect size for the game broomball!

Skate SharpeningIt’s Important!

Immediate or next day pick up, the Franklin Park Ice Arena is always available to sharpen your figure skates. Same day service: $7 Overnight service: $6 Orch’s Pro Shop, located in the lobby of the Franklin Park Ice Arena, is also available to sharpen hockey skates.

ICE SKATING is a lifetime sport for the entire family and Fall is the best time to start!

Bring your family to the nearby Franklin Park Ice Arena to embark on a lifetime of skating fun! We offer reasonably priced lessons year-round for skaters of all ages. You can enroll your first-time skater in an age-appropriate class and master skating fundamentals along with your spouse or teenager. Our classes are conveniently offered in the evenings and on Saturdays. Weekday tot classes are available as well.

Our experienced, professional skating staff is eager to share their knowledge and skill with you and your family. We will teach you the basics of balancing and gliding and give you the confidence to advance through the nationally recognized Ice Skating Institute curriculum. We SKATE is the leading learn-to-skate program that focuses on teaching people to skate for the FUN of it.

New sessions start in September, November and February. Skates are available for rent at just $3 or you can purchase a discount pass at $30 for 15 rentals.

About Our Skating School

• Classes meet once per week. • Progress reports are given at the end of each session. • Our professional coaches are available for “private lessons” if extra help is needed. • Spectators are not allowed in the Studio Arena. • Pro-rated refund requests are accepted at the front counter—only until the end of the second week of class. Administrative fee will be charged. • You can enroll in more than one class. • There are no “make–ups.” • Freestyle ice and public skating sessions are available at an extra charge for practice time. Panther Instructional Youth Hockey

A PROGRESSIVE HOCKEY PROGRAM

Skill-building and competitive fun for the aspiring hockey stars of all ages and levels. Learn the Game!

Our Panther Paws classes cover skating and hockey basics for youngsters ages 3 and up. Panther Paws progress their way from Group 1 through Group 5 as they improve their skating and hockey skills. Groups 1-3 teaches proper skating technique for a solid hockey foundation and the session ends with a cross-ice game on the big ice. Groups 4-5 move into stickhandling and consistency in skating. All skaters begin in Group 1 and are moved as necessary.

A helmet (hockey or otherwise) is required for Groups 1 & 2. In Group 3, a hockey helmet with a face mask and hockey stick are required. Groups 4 & 5 require full equipment. Skates are available to rent for $3 or you can purchase a discount skate card ($30 for 15 rentals).

Panther Paws instructional hockey begins a new session four times per season: September, November, March and June.

The Franklin Park Speed Skating Club trains skaters to compete locally, regionally and nationally in the exciting sport of Short Track Speed Skating. Practices are on Tuesday evenings from September through March. You can try the sport using your hockey or figure skates. Once you’ve decided to join the club, our coaches will help you select proper equipment.

Adult Hockey League

Proof of USA Hockey Insurance is required for all players at time of registration.

Our Original 6 Draft league requires individual registration and an evaluation for any new players to be placed on a team. All teams are created based on parity. There are 3 sessions throughout the season and each session consists of 10-12 games with playoffs and approximately 1 game per week. Dates & Fee: TBA

Adult Open Hockey

The Franklin Park Ice Arena offers Open Hockey to adults 18 years and older all season long. Weekly 90 minute sessions are available Wednesday and Friday mornings 9:20-10:50 am. We also offer Women’s Only Open Hockey on Tuesday’s from 9:20-10:50 am. Full gear is required. Check www.fpice.com for a full schedule and changes. Fee: $10/session (Goalies skate for FREE!) Punch Pass: 10 sessions for $90
