Your Park District Dear Residents & Park District Friends: Cooler days, colorful leaves, and community traditions make fall an unforgettable season with the Park District of Franklin Park.

Celebrate at the 48th Eddie Biondo Fall Fest Parade on October 4th as floats, marching bands, local schools, and community groups fill the streets before everyone gathers at North Park for the annual Pumpkin Fest.

Pumpkin Fest keeps the celebration going with pumpkin decorating, inflatables, games, and family activities. As the sun sets on October 9, grab a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an outdoor showing of Wicked: For Good under the stars.

As fall brings a new school year and busy family routines, the Park District is here to support the many stages of childhood. Our Early Childhood Programs for ages 2–4 help little ones build friendships while developing social-emotional and cognitive skills. Our K–8 After School Program provides a safe place to exercise, socialize, complete homework, and have fun.

Beyond the school day, Youth Athletics offer opportunities to build confidence, teamwork, and skills through taekwondo, soccer, basketball, flag football, and more.

Gather your friends, family, and neighbors to see floats, marching bands, local schools, and more showcasing the heart of Franklin Park. The parade marches from the intersection of Grand Avenue and Scott Street, heads east on Grand, then north on 25th Avenue (Rose Street) and ends at Addison and Scott Street (North Park). Be sure to join us after the parade for our annual Pumpkin Fest at North Park. Contact the Park District at 847-455-2852 for a parade entry form.

AGES 1-2 YEARS WITH PARENT

Birth Certificates are required for registration. Please note that there are nine monthly payments for the school year. The first payment is due at registration. Subsequent payments on the 15 of every month.

Your tot will move to the beat while using instruments like handbells, tambourines, and more. Coordination and motor skills improve with movement props such as scarves, ribbons and parachute play.

Seedlings ~ 2026-27 AGE 2 YEARS The Seedling program is a great way to introduce your little one to new friends of the same age. This program provides many opportunities for children to develop. We follow a yearly curriculum and students have an opportunity to explore different learning centers, such as dramatic play, reading, music, and more. Daily snack time and gym time are also included. Tiny Traditions Ornament Night AGES 1-3 YEARS WITH PARENT Join us for a cozy pop-up family event. Little ones will create their own keepsake ornaments using air-dry clay with caregiver support.

To warm up, we play gym games and sports daily. We also take a trip to the Ice Arena, make holiday-themed crafts, and much more! Youth & Teen Programs TEEN TRIPS

Safe@Home GRADES 4-6 Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.

Teens will enjoy the corn maze, giraffe barn, wagon rides, haunted house, pig races, pumpkin dinosaur, photo areas, animal attractions, and more fall fun with friends. Participants are welcome to bring money for optional extra attractions and seasonal treats available on site.

Kids Eat- Pizza Party GRADES 3-8 This pizza party is a hands-on program for tweens and teens where they learn how to safely make pizza at home. Participants will get step-by-step guidance on kitchen basics, food prep, and assembling their own personal pizza from scratch. Along the way, they’ll build confidence using simple cooking skills in a fun, social setting.

Everyone gets to enjoy their creation and leaves ready to recreate pizza night at home.

This program welcomes all skill levels and focuses on developing the fundamentals to foster a lifelong passion for soccer. Skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship are key components of the program. Players will enhance their skills through various drills, exercises, and scrimmages.

Ice Arena Panther Instructional Youth Hockey

A PROGRESSIVE HOCKEY PROGRAM Skill-building and competitive fun for the aspiring hockey stars of all ages and levels. Learn the Game!

Our Panther Paws classes cover skating and hockey basics for youngsters ages 3 and up. No prior experience required! There are 5 groups of Panther Paws.

Skaters will progress their way from Group 1 through Group 5 as they improve their skating and hockey skills. Panther Paws 1-3 teach proper skating technique for a solid hockey foundation and the session ends with a crossice game on the big ice. Groups 4-5 move into stickhandling and consistency in skating, and play a cross-ice game at the end of the session. All skaters new to the program will begin in Group 1.

Based on their skill level, they may be reassigned to a higher group (additional fees apply for moving groups).

Panthers start as young as 7-years old and continue through high school. Participants enjoy quality house league hockey at a reasonable price. We also offer a one week pre-season clinic at the beginning of September.

The Franklin Park Ice Arena offers Open Hockey to adults 18 years and older all season long. Weekly 90-minute sessions are available Wednesday and Friday mornings 9:20-10:50 am starting September 3. We also offer Women’s Only Open Hockey on Tuesdays from 9:20-10:50 am starting September 1. Full gear is required. Check fpparks.org for a full schedule and changes.

Panther Paws instructional hockey begins a new session four times per season: September, November, March and June.

Our Panther Hockey Program will announce its season dates based on the USA Hockey/AHAI/NWHL guidelines. Our teams play in the Northwest Hockey League against area teams from the surrounding suburbs. We offer practices, games, and skills clinics (including special sessions for goalies) so Panther Hockey players can develop their talent and sportsmanship on the ice.

The Franklin Park Ice Arena also offers girls hockey teams! The Pink Panthers is a Tier II or AA girls hockey program servicing Chicago and the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. The Pink Panthers offer girls a place to play all-girls hockey in an all-girls competitive travel league.

A helmet (hockey or otherwise) is required for Groups 1. In Groups 2 & 3, a hockey helmet with a face mask and hockey stick are required.

Groups 4 & 5 require full equipment. Skates are available to rent for $4 or you can purchase a discount skate card ($45 for 15 rentals).

The Franklin Park Speed Skating Club trains skaters to compete locally, regionally and nationally in the exciting sport of Short Track Speed Skating.

Practices are on Tuesday evenings from September through March. You can try the sport using your hockey or figure skates. Once you’ve decided to join the club, our coaches will help you select proper equipment.

Thunder Soccer Club Thunder Soccer Club has provided a quality youth soccer program for the Leyden Community for the past 40 years. TSC is not a Park District program but a Sports Affiliate of the Park District of Franklin Park. Thunder is an all-volunteer program with parents & other members of the community becoming coaches and Board Members. TSC is a proud member of the IYSA, Illinois Youth Soccer Association, and was recognized in 2009 as the Top Recreational Youth Soccer Club in the State of Illinois.

TSC conducts three soccer seasons, fall, winter/indoor, and spring seasons for boys and girls from ages 3 through 8th grade.

The Conventional Program includes 7 matches per season. Fall & Spring seasons feature two weekly one-hour training sessions at local parks and schools in the Leyden Area. Siblings are guaranteed to train in the same fields.

WSSRA

Franklin Park Vipers Little League Franklin Park Vipers provides a youth baseball and softball program for ages 4 through 16 years old for residents of Franklin Park and the surrounding communities. The Vipers organization has been a proud affiliate of the Park District of Franklin Park for over twenty years. The Franklin Park Vipers are also a proud affiliate of Leyden High School.

Clinics and practices focus on ensuring that players are well-versed in the fundamental skills of the sport. Experienced players are trained to enhance their pitching, hitting, and game knowledge while newer players can focus on fundamentals. Indoor clinics and practices start after registration and will continue until the weather permits us to practice outside (April 1st). Our season runs from mid-April to the end of June, consisting of 16-24 games. In addition to the regular season, we have participated in Sunday leagues, summer tournaments, Fall Ball, and winter training.

Park District Information Am I a Resident or Non-Resident of the Park District of Franklin Park?

You are a Resident of the Park District if you live within Park District boundaries (that is, in Franklin Park, north of Grand Avenue). You are a Non-Resident if you reside outside that area. All are welcome to participate in our programs; however, Non-Residents are sometimes charged a slightly higher fee. In this brochure, “R” indicates a Resident fee, while “NR” indicates a Non-Resident fee.

Resident Pass Park District Residents are required to get a Resident Pass to receive discounted rates on programs, events, passes and rentals. To get your pass, bring a valid driver’s license or state ID and a current property tax or utility bill showing your name and address to the Community Center.

Children must also obtain a pass. Parents/guardians must provide a copy of each child’s birth certificate or guardian papers. The pass serves as proof of residency and is good for one year. Replacement passes are $6.

Code of Conduct/ Participant Guidelines Equal Access No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity.

Behavior Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times.

The following guidelines have been developed to make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff. Participants shall: • Show respect to all participants and staff • Refrain from using foul language • Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants and staff • Show respect for equipment, supplies and facilities

Discipline A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. The Park District of Franklin Park reserves the right to dismiss a participant. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.

Youth Participation Guidelines From time to time, the Park District has had the challenge of dealing with children registered for Park District programs whose excitement level and enthusiasm were beyond the capabilities of our staff. In the event that such a child is involved in any of these programs, the staff will notify the child’s parents that they are not capable of adequately supervising such a child. The Park District will gladly refund the prorated portion of any fees. The Park District has made every effort to hire capable staff for all programs, but there are occasions when, for the good of the entire program, the Park District must insist that parents remove unmanageable children from the program. Your cooperation as a parent will be greatly appreciated, and your understanding will allow the Park District of Franklin Park to better serve all youth.

We Love Parents, but…

With your child’s best interest in mind, we ask that parents do not remain in class, or bring other children into class during any of our youth programs, unless specifically approved by the instructor. This may interrupt the participant’s attention and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The Park District staff has made every effort to prepare this brochure as accurately as possible. However, errors can occur. Circumstances may require that adjustments be made to programs, fees, schedules, etc. The Park District reserves the right to make any such adjustments. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience these errors or adjustments may cause.

Lost and Stolen Policy Personal items brought to the Park District of Franklin Park facilities are the responsibility of the individual. We recommend that items be secured in lockers when provided at facilities. The Park District does not maintain a lost and found, and cannot accept responsibility for items left at Park District facilities, fields or parks.

Employers All employees of Franklin Park businesses located north of Grand Avenue are now eligible to receive in-district rates, regardless of residency! Employees can simply bring in documentation of employment on company letterhead or their most recent pay stub. Direct family members living at the same address are also eligible to receive the discounted rate. They are required to show photo identification and a recent bill displaying the employee’s address, as well as a birth certificate or guardian papers for each child. We are happy to work with you to establish special programs or trips for your employees!

Registration To Register for Park District programs, please submit your complete form with full payment by mail, in person or by fax at 847-455-9053. We also encourage the convenience of on-line registration at www.fpparks.org.

Refund Policy The Park District understands that plans may change and strives to accommodate refund requests whenever possible. Refunds can only be issued to the individual registered for the program. For one-day programs and special events, a $5 service fee will be assessed if the refund is requested seven (7) or more days prior to the event; no refunds will be issued for requests made fewer than seven days before the event. For general recreation programs, a prorated refund minus a $5 service fee will be issued if requested prior to the start of the third class. Refunds for trips will be issued only if a replacement participant can be found. For Community Center room or gym rentals, cancellation requests must be submitted at least fourteen (14) days prior to the rental date, and a $10 service fee will apply. Refunds exceeding $10 will be issued within forty-five (45) days of the application date.

Refunds of $10 or less will be credited to the family’s Park District household account for use toward a future program or service.

Insurance Coverage The Park District of Franklin Park does NOT carry accident insurance on any participants. Each participant’s own accident insurance should cover health care costs. All participants registering in any program will be required to sign our waiver and release form before registration is valid. All persons of legal age shall be asked to sign a waiver of liability at the time of fee payment for any Park District program or service. All persons under the age of 18 shall be required to have a parent or legal guardian sign on their behalf. Failure to sign the waiver may void registration without a refund. Continue celebrating at North Park with the Pumpkin Fest!

We’ll have plenty of bright orange pumpkins waiting to be decorated and taken home! The pumpkin patch is available for children ages 12 and under. The afternoon is full of family-fun, inflatables, games, and more!
