2026 Stewardship

With Loving Hearts, Willing Hands, & Open Minds
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10
At First Presbyterian, we believe God calls us to live generously—with our hearts, our hands, and our minds open to the Spirit’s guidance. Each gift entrusted to the church helps sustain vibrant worship, nurture future generations, extend compassion to neighbors near and far, and deepen our shared life of faith.
This year’s theme, All In: With Loving Hearts, Willing Hands, & Open Minds, reminds us that every offering, large or small, is an expression of gratitude. Together, we continue to build a community where God’s love is made visible.
We are blessed to live in a city and nation with many worthy organizations effecting positive change; supporting them is a beautiful act of generosity. Yet giving to the church is something different. It is first and foremost an act of discipleship, a faithful response to God’s abundant grace. When we give to the church, our gifts have an enduring impact: nurturing children and youth, proclaiming hope in worship, caring for souls, and engaging in mission that touches every stage of life.
Our church is not just another cause to support—it is a community where we worship, grow, and walk together in
faith. Our celebration of growth and reaffirmed commitment to our youngest members requires expanded resources, including our commitment to hire a full-time Children’s Faith Formation director. And because a portion of every pledge goes directly to mission partners like Alpha House, Food Gatherers, and Rotating Shelter, our giving multiplies its reach far beyond our own walls. When you contribute to the church, your gifts are transformed into worship, compassion, and outreach—fueling a community where God’s love is proclaimed and fulfilled every day.
Your pledge to this year’s stewardship campaign is more than a financial commitment—it is a transformative statement of faith and a manifestation of what God can do through us. By going “All In,” we profess that the ministries of this church matter, that lives will continue to be touched, and that together we can continue to shine Christ’s light in Ann Arbor and far beyond.

The ministries of First Presbyterian Church thrive when we are All In together. With loving hearts, we care for one another and extend compassion to those in need. With willing hands, we teach and mentor children, lead worship, prepare meals, and serve our neighbors near and far. With open minds, we study scripture, wrestle with big questions, and listen for the Spirit’s leading. Every ministry—whether in the sanctuary, the classroom, the mission field, or the quiet work of care—is a reflection of our collective commitment to follow Christ. When we are All In, these ministries do more than function; they flourish, bearing witness to God’s love in powerful and lasting ways.
Our children are not just the church of tomorrow—they are the church of today. Through Faith Formation classes, summer camp, children’s choir, mission projects, and intergenerational worship, our youngest members are discovering what it means to follow Christ.
This year, we are especially focused on strengthening our Children’s Ministry. The search is underway for a new Children’s Ministry Director who will guide, support, and grow this vital program. Funding for this position is included in the 2026 budget, and your pledge helps make it possible to welcome a gifted leader to shepherd our children in faith.
All In … means shaping young leaders.
Our middle and high school youth are growing in faith through weekly gatherings, retreats, confirmation, and mission trips. These experiences form lifelong friendships and shape young leaders who are learning to serve Christ with courage and compassion.
All In … means walking together.
The ministry of care is at the heart of who we are. Through meals for families in crisis, visits to the homebound, prayer shawls, and funeral hospitality, your gifts ensure that no one walks alone in times of joy or sorrow.
All In … means loving our neighbors.
God calls us to look beyond our walls. Through partnerships with organizations such as Alpha House, Food Gatherers, and Rotating Shelter, we share God’s love in tangible ways. Your pledges make these life-changing ministries possible.
“All In” is an invitation for each of us to bring the fullness of who we are into God’s mission: heart, hands, and mind.
All In … means praising God with heart and voice.
Inspiring services, choirs, and sacred music lift us into God’s presence and root our community in worship. Your giving sustains the people, spaces, and resources that make our worship vibrant and life-giving week after week.
All In … means deepening our faith.
Bible studies, book groups, and fellowship opportunities form us as lifelong learners and disciples of Christ. Through your support, adults of every age and stage are equipped to grow in wisdom and live their faith in the world.
All In … means creating a welcoming home.
Your gifts provide the staff, building care, and resources that keep our congregation safe, warm, and ready for ministry. Because of your generosity, our church home remains a place where all can gather, belong, and encounter God’s presence.
The 2026 Operating Budget chart highlights the many ministries and programmatic expenses your pledges make possible—from faith formation to worship and music, mission, and the care of our facilities. These are the visible ways your generosity touches lives. Equally vital, though not shown in the Ministry/Program Budget chart, are the resources devoted to the welfare and support of our staff. Our pastors, musicians, educators, and administrative team
provide the leadership, care, and stability that sustain every ministry we share. In addition, our Resident Ministry Program, fully supported by a dedicated endowment, enriches our life together by forming and equipping new leaders for the church. Your pledges make both the programs you see here and the dedicated service of our staff possible, ensuring that First Presbyterian continues to be a place of radical welcome, faithful witness, and community outreach.
