“One of the other nice things about the pin selected (machines) is that they are very structured. The machine itself helps keep you in the proper form and the proper positioning. Injuries are reduced in that there is a right way to use the machine and the machine helps guide you to that,” Westphal said.

The back of the gym has the free weight area for the more advanced weightlifters, who load weighted plates onto various pieces of equipment. The plated weights range from two and one-half pounds all the way to 45 pounds each. “You have all of that variety that you really can make it your own workout,” she said.

In addition, the gym has a large variety of dumbbells ranging from 2-100 pounds.

Also, towards the back of the gym in a side area is where Westphal conducts various group fitness classes, which is something the gym has added since she and her husband bought the franchise in 2021.

Three days a week, the gym offers strength and toning classes. Four days per week it offers yoga classes.

Two days a week, the gym offers a chair fitness class for people with mobility issues, such as senior citizens. The class offers some resistance training.

“It is some cardio training in the fact that we’re moving the whole 25 minutes of the class,” she said. “We are using some light hand weights, but we all do it sitting in a chair. … On a Tuesday at 11 we have 11 women – all 70 plus years old – in the back of the gym working out together.”

Workout Anytime is community oriented trying to service the whole family. You must be at least 12 years old to be a member, and the gym has one member, who is 89 years old.

“We have options in here for everybody at all fitness levels. People of all abilities can find something here in the gym that will work for their fitness level,” she said. “It is really appealing that a whole family can come in and everybody find what they need.”

Westphal added it is not necessarily just young people using the gym, and it has a very robust middle age and retired group of people, who are active participants in the gym.

The gym maintains about 1,500 members.

Membership tends to increase around the first of the year as people are making New Year’s resolutions.

Westphal sees room for growth. “People are always interested in how they can improve their health and wellness,” she noted.

Spring 2026 — Strictly Business Last Spring, Workout Anytime partnered with the Corbin Parks and Recreation Department to add a water aerobics class at the Corbin City Pool. The pool has a dome and is heated. It is now open most of the year.

Westphal noted the water aerobics class was something a lot of members, particularly older members, were interested in having.

Spring 2026 — Strictly Business The water aerobics class is open to Workout Anytime members and members of the community.

The gym also has a 3D body scanner, which can give your body composition in three areas: body fat, lean mass and bone mass.

The basic $22.99 monthly membership features access to gym equipment, locker rooms, the 3D body scanner and so forth.

Workout Anytime also features a higher $34.99 monthly premium plan including amenities, such as tanning beds, an infrared sauna and a hydro massage bed.

“It’s like a recliner chair that you sit in. It’s a water massage, but you don’t get wet,” she explained.

Workout Anytime, which opened in Corbin in 2017, is part of a corporate franchise. It is independently owned and managed.

Westphal noted one of the great things about being a franchise is Workout Anytime has reciprocity agreements between all 189 gyms across the country.

That level of trust allows Dilbeck to do his job successfully and ensures his employees are successful as well.

Dilbeck oversees all branch duties and said this level of responsibility makes the job both rewarding and manageable.

Holston Gases continues to expand every day, recently opening a new location in Athens, Georgia.

“We’re expanding and looking for new avenues of business throughout the whole South, not just Kentucky,” said Dilbeck.

Even with that steady growth, Dilbeck said the company’s goal stays the same. “[The goal is] to be the best industrial gas supply company in the south,” said Dilbeck. “It probably already is, honestly.”

While the company operates throughout multiple states, Dilbeck says strong relationships remain a priority.

“The value with Holston Gases is you know who you’re dealing with,” said Dilbeck.

Dilbeck wishes customers knew that although they operate as a small company, they are large and their mission is to take care of every customer, big or small.

The focus on relationships carries into how the company hires and operates internally.

“Holston Gases is one big family. When we look to hire, we look to hire someone that can become our family,” said Dilbeck. “Holston Gases is great, and we really are like a family here. It’s only that way because the employees have made it that way.”

Employees are cross-trained to work across multiple roles, allowing the branch to remain flexible and responsive to customer’s needs.

“Everyone does a little bit of everything and that’s what makes Holston so valuable…We’re really diverse in those ways,” said Dilbeck.

Spring 2026 — Strictly Business 15 CC&M started in 2016 as a professional cleaning and maintenance company with a full suite of services for commercial cleaning and maintenance.

“We realized that around here there wasn’t a large-scale cleaning company for office and medical facilities, so we found a niche and ran with it. It grew exponentially very quickly,” Lauren said.

After starting with large scale cleaning, CC&M began getting questions about whether it did maintenance work too.

“Justin said, ‘Absolutely I can,’” Lauren recalled.

This is how the company’s maintenance division started.

Then they started getting inquiries about doing pressure washing and chemical roof cleaning.

“Justin said, “Absolutely I can,” Lauren added.

After cleaning, maintenance and power washing, companies then wanted CC&M to do automation for them, such as door locks, security cameras and video walls, like the one in Tomahawks, which is also owned by the Clouds.

At first, they thought the video wall at Tomahawks was a terrible idea, too expensive and there was no market here for it.

“A friend of mine that works with us, Randall Campbell, said we need to try it, and it has been a very good business,” Justin said.

The company’s roofing department, which started two or three years ago, has also gotten quite large.

“Everything that we do is pretty much commercial except for roofing, power washing and chemical cleaning. We do that residential. We don’t do residential construction or residential remodels or anything like that. We try to keep that on the commercial side,” Justin said.

The company’s newest venture is water, fire and mold remediation. It is mostly through insurance claims. It came about after “we had so many people ask if we did that,” Lauren noted.

The company is bonded and insured. Its employees are drug screened and have passed background checks.

“We do pride ourselves on doing things the right way,” Lauren said. “We try to do things by the book. If you need it inspected, it will pass.

We take pride in that.”

Justin said if he didn’t already know how to do something, he would find an out-of-state company already doing the business and offer to go work there for them for free for a few weeks to learn everything they do.

Then he would often try to hire someone with knowledge in that area to come to work for CC&M running this division. Sometimes, it was a person working for the company Justin trained under, if that company didn’t get upset about him hiring away their employee.

“We do that with every division we have. We are not the smartest people here. We hire the smartest people,” Lauren said. “We surround ourselves with people that have great ideas, that are dedicated, and that are loyal. They are hard working. They are the ones who have made CC&M the success that it is. It is all the other people we have underneath us honestly.”

The company now has six divisions, including the CC&M Construction Division, an automation

division, a commercial cleaning division, a roofing division and a maintenance division. The divisions run independently with different staffs.

“We do a little bit of everything,” Justin said.

Lauren and Justin have approximately 60 people working for them between all their divisions. In addition, they have some independent subcontractors, which varies depending on what particular job they are doing demands.

“We would bring in people and experts to find out how do we make this work right in our area. Appalachia is very different than most areas. You have to work with what you have got essentially.

Bringing people in who knew how to do stuff on the larger scale, helped us on our smaller scale,” Lauren said.

Justin admits most

people probably don’t know what CC&M does unless they are already a customer or are the friend of a customer.

“What does CC&M do?” This is Lauren’s favorite question to answer.

Her response is “everything and if we don’t, we can.”

What does CC&M plan to do next?

“I never know where it is going to be honest with you,” Justin said adding he thinks the roofing division and automation departments will probably expand over the next few years.

Breaktime Vending

rom penny gum ball machines to now vending markets and more, Breaktime Vending started out as, “a true family business.”

The business now employees dozens of folks throughout Kentucky and beyond, but it started with just two employees – Paul Pietrowski Jr. and his dad – in the family’s garage.

“I graduated from Tennessee in 1984.

During that time, my dad worked at Pepsi forever,” Pietrowski reminisced.

“He decided when I got out of college, we were going to probably try to try something new.”

That something new looked like 200 penny gum ball machines.

“We put them out in these hollers in Clay County and Jackson County and everywhere else and

started out with that,” Pietrowski said.

From there, the business grew.

“I think our first account was the old hospital in Barbourville, the old Knox County General Hospital.

That was around the mid to late 80s, and then after that, I think True Seal was the next account we got,” said Pietrowski. “[From there] it grew, and it grew, and it grew.”

At the time, the business was named Tri-County Vending.

In 1995, the business was purchased by Pepsi.

Pietrowski stayed on as general manager. March marked his 31st anniversary with the company under Pepsi’s management.

Today, Breaktime Vending has locations in Knoxville, TN, Corbin and Richmond. It also has

In the first 40 years of the company’s history, quite a few things have changed.

When the Pietrowski’s first started the business in 1985, the only way to buy the products was by using coins, today, there are many more options.

“It’s moved to the point where, of course, you can use coins. You can use dollars. You can use credit cards, and you can use debit cards,” Pietrowski explained. “The technology that goes along with that is just amazing.”

With new technology came a better system to be able to serve customers.

“Where we have debit credit cards on our machines and in our markets now, we know what has sold before we go to refill it,” said Pietrowski. “We have a crew that works in the evenings and pulls the product for the next morning, so the driver knows exactly what to take to these accounts to refill the markets or to refill the vending machines.”

The company offers a variety of services ranging from vending machines and market concepts to hydration and coffee stations.

“Our focus is vending and markets, but we do so much other stuff,” said Pietrowski. “I think we do it great.”

Serving customers with great customer service was one of the key pillars the Pietrowski’s used as the foundation for the business.

“When me and Dad started it, we said, ‘All right, we’re starting a new thing here, so let’s make sure to make the customer number one.’”

Pietrowski said he makes it a priority to visit new customers often when they first open their accounts.

Breaktime Vending prides itself on customer service, but it also makes it a point to provide community service.

“When the floods hit, when COVID hit, anything like that, when people reach out, we’re all about helping them, because the Lord’s gonna give it back to you anyway,” said Pietrowski. “When things like that pop up, we just feel like that’s what you’re supposed to do. You help the others out.

People [are] giving you business.

They’re helping you grow as a business. Help them when they need it and they’ll never forget it.”

Whether it is customer service or community service, Pietrowski said, “We felt like it was a privilege to be able to serve those people in the vending business, or whatever we were doing, or the bubble gum business, or whatever.”

Because for Pietrowski, “It’s still personal to me, and even though dad’s long gone and we miss him

Spring 2026 — Strictly Business dearly, it’s still, I think, back to when me and Dad started it.”

More than 40 years after the Pietrowski’s started the company, Paul Jr. is looking ahead to the next 40 years.

“In 40 years, I want to see it instilled with the same disciplines that we have right now. As far as just being good to our customers, growing the business, offering a quality product at a fair price, and always being there for the customers.”

Chamber Meetings

February Meeting — Whitley County Judge Executive Pat White, Jr. served as the special guest speaker at the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s February membership luncheon.

Rick Fleenor of Right Side Consulting introduced White, highlighting his 19 years as judge executive, his record of receiving the best audits in Whitley County history, leadership as chairman of the Whitley County Project Development Board, and creation of the Kayaking for Kids fundraising event, among other accomplishments.

March Meeting— Williamsburg Mayor Roddy Harrison was the March guest speaker at the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon. He highlighted major projects underway in the City of Williamsburg.

“To say that 2026 has been an interesting time thus far, to be mayor in Williamsburg, is probably a little bit of an understatement,” said Harrison.

“We’ve already seen some great challenges, but you know what? I’m ready for it… The City of Williamsburg is strong.”

April Meeting — Members of the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce heard from The Mint Gaming Hall’s new General Manager Darold Londo during the monthly luncheon on April 14 at The Corbin Center.

Londo spoke about community involvement and upcoming opportunities at The Mint’s Corbin and Williamsburg locations.
