How to present God to those with a different view

Atheist: A person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.

If they agree that they do not have all knowledge of everything, ask them how they can be sure that the knowledge of God doesn’t exist outside of their realm of knowledge?

Unless you have all knowledge, it is not reason able to claim to be an atheist. Without all knowledge it is only reasonable to have some doubt. This doubt means that you are not an atheist, but an agnostic.

Agnostic: One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.

Does not the order of the universe, from the most minute particles to the celestial bodies, speak of order not chaos? Does not the complexity of living organisms from single cells to the human species speak of intelligent design? Is it reasonable to ignore the testimony of all we observe and experience? If there is evidence, as well as testimony from many creditable sources to the existence of God and to His intervention into the affairs of man, would they not be wise to research the possibility?

Theist: Belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in a person al god as creator and ruler of the world.

Only three major religions teach belief in a personal God as creator and ruler. Islam, Judaism and Christianity are the three. All three recognize the lost state of man but only Christianity offers a reasonable plan whereby a loving God suffers to provide for the just redemption of repentant mankind.

Consider the plan or motive the God of the three mentioned religions had for this creation. Does Islam or Judaism even offer a reason? Christianity offers God’s plan to bring many, who by faith and choice have accepted Him, into His eternal family by adoption. The God of Christianity loves His creation and, even while they are in rebellion, extends to them abundant mercies, desiring their repentance.

If there is a personal God who is creator and ruler, would He not have a rea son for His creation; would He not care for His creation?

The God of Christianity is one God manifesting Himself in three ways - the heavenly Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. These manifestations exist concur rently & exclusive of each other. We are in His likeness (Genesis 1:26) body, soul and spirit - three manifestations. It is much the same as H2O being steam; water; or ice; it is always H2O. The Christian’s God is One (Mark 12:29).

Christian: Professing belief in Jesus as Christ and following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Remember that just as you became a Christian by God’s grace through your faith (Galatians 2:8-9), you are kept by God’s grace through your faith (1 Peter 1: 5). Remember that we are not to love the things of the world (1 John 2:1517), but are to deny ourselves and to follow Him (Luke 9:23).

Remember that life is full of troubles even for a Christian (John 16:33), but He will never leave nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). He will be with you. We are also encouraged to cast all our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7).
