Preheat oven to 350 Degrees In large bowl, stir together all the dry ingredients: 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 3/4 cup unsweet Hershey’s Cocoa 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon
Then stir in: 4 eggs 1 1/2 cups Canola/Vegetable Oil 3 cups grated zucchini Pour into greased & floured 9x13 pan. Bake 50 to 60 minutes. After cake has cooled, top with:
Perfectly Chocolate Frosting 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine 2/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa 3 cups powdered sugar 1/3 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla extract Melt butter. Stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating to spreading consistency. Add small amount of additional milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla. Makes about 2 cups of frosting.

Wolf Creek Trail— Approximately 21 miles of trails. It is designed for mountain biking, but can be used for hiking or trail running. From the North Trailhead you can do a 3.6 mile, 6-mile or 11-mile loop. McLane Park-Located at 474 Hwy W. This beautiful park has a paved walking trail of 0.96 miles without the loop; add the loop and it is 1.33 miles. There are two small gazebos, benches, a small pond, water fountain with pet bowl, and pet friendly. McLane Complex has five baseball/softball fields, concession, and bathrooms. McLane complex is available for rental for tournaments. To request to reserve the complex for a tournament call the Park Department at 573-686-8645 or complete a reservation request online. Hendrickson Park -Located at 1200 West Davis Street. This walking trail was expanded to 1.22 miles. The loop at Hendrickson Park is 0.56 miles. On the 13th Street side of the park is a stage and an educational area for youth. A pavilion with electric and grill is available for rental by calling the Park Department at 573-686-8645. Amenities include pavilion, grill, picnic tables, playground, pet friendly, stage, paved and natural walk trail, disc golf, bathrooms (seasonal). Bacon Park -Owned by the Kiwanis this park is located on Harper Street behind the Poplar Bluff Middle School. This trail is a part of the Poplar Bluff Greenway. It connects to Hendrickson Park. The loop at Bacon Park is 0.52 miles. Amenities include Pavilions, grills, playgrounds, all inclusive playground, basketball, disc golf, softball. For pavilion rental call 573-686-8645. Westwood Hills Country Club - The 18-hole "Westwood Hills" course at the Westwood Hills Country Club facility in Poplar Bluff, Missouri features 6,239 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course ranking is 69.3 and it has a slope ranking of 118. Westwood Hills golf course opened in 1936. Amenities include a fully stocked pro shop, expert measuring and fitting of clubs, and putting and chipping green. Golf lessons available for the beginner and the seasoned golfer wanting to sharpen their skills. Ozark Ridge Ozark Ridge Golf Course is an 18-hole, championship course that's gaining a reputation as one of the finest public courses in the Mid-South. Terrific features, such as, large bent grass greens, protective bunkers, tree lined fairways, and a large driving range, just to name a few. There is a fully stocked pro ro shop with all the latest golf equipment and clothing on hand, and d a grill where you can ge get your favorite sandwich and beverage.

Grilled Salmon & Avocado Salsa Ingredients
Avocado Salsa
2 lbs salmon 1 tbs olive oil 1 tsp salt 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp ancho chili powder 1 tsp black pepper
1 avocado cubed
1/2 red onion diced 2 limes juiced 1tbs fresh cilantro chopped
Instructions
1. Mix the salt, chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion and black pepper together. Rub the salmon fillets with olive oil and seasoning mixture. 2. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes 3. Chop the avocado, onion and cilantro and mix with lime juice. Chill until serving time. 4. Pre-heat grill 5. Grill salmon until desired doneness. 6. Top with avocado salsa and enjoy!

Are you considering a remodel in 2022? Heads up on the home decor trends that are quickly going OUT of style in 2022... Gold Hardware and Fixtures. We’ve seen a comeback of these statement pieces in the past few years in bathrooms and kitchens. Although the Gold is beautiful against a white background, trends are showing new designs heading in a different direction. Shiplap, yes it’s going out of style. The farmhouse style has been cursed by the popularity in 2020-2022. Who doesn’t love Chip and Joanna? Designers are looking for unique styles that are not in everyone’s home. Word Signs, a little of these go a long way. Industrial everything. Trends are moving towards more soft and natural materials and that is the opposite of industrial. Too many Open Shelves. Yes, they are stunning and look great. But it may be a little harder to keep those open shelves neat and tidy to show off the look.
So what’s coming up? Trends we will see a lot more of in 2022... Textured Walls, exposed brick, natural stone, limewash paint or textured wallpaper Statement Kitchen Islands, will see the use of different materials other than the rest of the kitchen cabinets. Vintage Revival (with a modern twist), going to see a lot more solid wood antique and thrifted pieces that have been restored. Oriental rugs are making a comeback as well. Wood Beams, we have seen a lot of these in 2021 but they are here to stay. Natural Materials, a lot of these trends apply to using earth tones and materials such as stone, wood, and marble.

Brenda Holmes is all about her faith, family & memories made on the Current River Summertime is here, which means it’s time to hit the River. Current River has provided many wonderful experiences for locals and tourists. As a Doniphan native, I have enjoyed the benefits of Current River all my life. After the hustle and bustle of the work week, nothing is better than relaxing on the weekends at the cabin and visiting with family and friends. Boating on Current River is a family favorite. Our granddaughter went on her first boat ride when she was only 2 months old. Spending time with family is what I value the most in life. My husband, Todd and I have been married 37 years, and we were blessed with two daughters. Our daughters now married, have blessed us with two grandchildren. My parents who have been married over 60 years, have always been my role models. They both taught me to have a strong work ethic, and always remain faithful to God.
My priorities have always been God, family and then work. I have been fortunate to have careers that I enjoyed; therefore, they didn’t seem like a job. Surveying: The Profession that Builds Futures Surveyor & Realtor: Dan Hale's goal is to make to make your dream home or land a reality Fresh out of college I hoped to start working for an architect and design pretty houses for lovely families, but the best I could do was a young surveying and engineering firm. Taking what I could get I began working in a fast-paced survey office and learning what I could. On my first day they gave me a 5foot metal pole, a machete, and a tape measure, then labeled me a rodman and pointed me in the general direction of the nearest property corner. I learned several things that first day: there is a hierarchy of misery when working in the woods in July; there is no such thing as a one-mile section; a land surveyor is a mix between a historian and a detective; and the land surveyor doesn’t establish ownership of the land.
If that last sentence didn’t blow your mind, then you’re doing much better than I was through the first several months. Trying to put an extremely complex profession in perspective, the land surveyor’s job is to understand the deed's intention by finding evidence of the earlier land surveyors. It took me several weeks of work to understand this and more than twenty years to get close to a full understanding.
Surveying in Missouri began in 1815 after the Louisiana Purchase. The first Surveyors would use a sixtysix-foot chain and compass to set a wooden stake every mile throughout the state. This resulted in numerous errors, most of which are amazingly small, as you can imagine those wooden stakes didn’t last very long, although a few have been relocated. After the land was sectionalized for the U.S. Government, they began to sell it or use it to pay for war time debt to soldiers. This began more than 200 years of surveyors trying to (re-establish) what those first surveyors established as section corners. Modern surveyors now have extremely expensive instruments that use lasers and satellite communication to help relocate corners that have been used by earlier surveyors. They may be trying to establish your subdivision lot for a fence or (re-establishing) an entire section of land, but the basic method will always be the same. They will start with the recorded deed of the property and then begin searching through courthouse records, neighbor’s anecdotal evidence,
established markers, natural features, etc., all in hopes of finding the best evidence of that deed. However, no matter how good of a job they are able to do, will they ever be able to establish who owns the property? By law a surveyor can only establish deeds, if both disputed parties can’t come to an agreement, then they must go to a judge to resolve this matter. I highly recommend trying to work with your neighbors, a judge’s decision is final, and it may not go the way you had hoped. Surveyors can help you and your neighbors resolve an issue if you let them. If you would like to discuss your property or are looking to make a property purchase, give me a call. commercial building was built in 1905. Originally built as an all-brick structure, the stucco exterior facade was added following the tornado of 1927. The original storefronts have been altered but integral features such as the decorative corbelled brick cornice and second story arched, wood-framed windows remain. Gina was born and raised in Poplar Bluff and graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1982. She received her Bachelors in Elementary Education, Masters in Counseling, and Education Specialist Degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She has one daughter who lives in Tennessee. She is a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church and has been employed at the Poplar Bluff School District since 2001, working in various positions as a Science Teacher, Counselor, Adult Education Director, and currently a Psychological Examiner. She is very excited to work with Poplar Bluff Realty and begin her Real Estate Career. She would love the opportunity to work for you and help you find your dream home!

Growing up as an avid hunter, fisher, and regional athlete has shaped him into the outdoorsman he is today. Being from and part of the area gives Matthew an overwhelming advantage to the unique characteristics of Real Estate. Whether it is knowing the subtle rolls of the land, the banks of each local stream, the contours of the marshes for the island duck blinds, or the food sources of elusive whitetail, he is keen to gain a quick familiarity with the property and people that he serves.
