The Sanders Café in Corbin is the birthplace of KFC’s Original Recipe, which was created by Colonel Harland Sanders more than 75 years ago.

Renovations to a building dedicated to the memory of the world’s most famous fried chicken and its creator began in November 2019.

After more than two years of work and delays because of COVID-19, a ribbon cutting was held on Friday, April 22nd 2022 to officially open the newly renovated Harland Sanders Café and Museum.

The Sanders Café and Museum is located at the intersection of US 25W and Ky 830 in Corbin, KY

Steep forested slopes, sandstone cliffs and narrow ravines characterize the land. Visitors come here to hike, camp, boat, hunt, fish, ride, and relax. The London Ranger District is best known for Laurel River Lake.

Near the river, which he named the Cumberland, Dr. Walker built the first cabin in Kentucky, a replica of which stands on the site today.

The cabin and surrounding grounds can be toured year-round. The park includes a miniature golf course, a basketball court, and year-round picnicking and playground.

CUMBERLAND FALLS

CUMBERLAND FALLS STATE RESORT PARK Known as the “Niagara of the South,” the waterfall forms a 125-foot-wide curtain that plunges seven stories into a boulder-strewn gorge, and is dramatic day or night. The mist of Cumberland Falls creates the magic of the Moonbow, a unique phenomena which is only visible on a clear night during a full moon.

The park features a variety of other recreational activities that range from a relaxing dip to the excitement of rafting and horseback riding.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is the perfect destination to introduce the family to the thrill of horseback riding. The park offers guided trail rides that are easy enough for the first timer and still adventurous for the more experienced. Riders, age 6 and up, will enjoy a 45-minute ride through an eastern Kentucky forest, beautiful in any season. Cumberland Falls is a hiker’s paradise with 17 miles of hiking trails that wind through the park to scenic areas.
