Hometown Hollywood 2022 Downtown Senior Prom The opportunity to celebrate achievements, dance together, dress up, have fun, and make new memories with old friends was not lost this year due to a global pandemic.

The Class of 2022 has made history, having the first ever Prom in their very own downtown district. The hype of the outdoor prom sold 275 tickets! 150 is the average. The prom was put together by the parents of Project Celebration, Elgin High School, planner/coordinator Veronica Seever, and many volunteers. Together they worked with the City of Elgin and all of their officials to safely provide an exceptional event for these local young adults. Some even made a grand entrance on a fire engine!

The Class of 2022 missed roughly half of their high school experience, and everyone involved felt they deserved a night to remember.

The seniors voted on the theme Hometown Hollywood, and that is exactly what they got. From a grand entrance on the purple carpet, to five different selfie stations. The streets were lit, and the dance floor stayed packed through the evening.

Twenty Oscar style awards were given, with King and Queen being the highest honor. Amzy Zavala was voted to be Prom King and Azalea Palacios was voted to be Prom Queen.

When you have such a grand event happen locally in your home town, who better to partner with than your local businesses and community members! Everything from the decorations, food, lighting… and even some prom dresses… were all provided from local businesses and community members.

Hopefully this is a start to many more grand events taking place locally to benefit our community and its members in so many ways.
