On the Cover Every day, more and more people are making tracks to Bridgeport, whether in Jeeps or other modes of transportation. They are finding a vibrant downtown shopping district, topnotch restaurants and a variety of opportunities for outdoor activities, such as the Endeavor Bridgeport Adventure Park featuring miles of trails for off roading, hiking or biking. Last summer, the city celebrated Christmas in July with a Jeep Parade through downtown followed by a Jeep show and live music. The cover photo is by Brian Knox with the Wise County Messenger. elcome to Bridgeport, a beautiful North Texas community where creativity and industry coincide. The turn of the new year served as inspiration as we reflected on our rich history and looked ahead to the future. Through the years, we’ve evolved from wagon trails to off-road tracks, coal mining to oil and gas, and fields of grain to art galleries. The possibilities are endless for our future, and it’s exciting to think about what’s next for our community. As a Bridgeport native, our history is meaningful to me, and we work hard to foster growth and welcome new folks, while preserving our rich heritage. To do this, we host local events, festivals and business trainings to connect the community socially and economically. Each event attracts new visitors, while

boosting the economy. I believe that Bridgeport is a community of people helping people. We also have many attractions that people from all over can enjoy. From our lake, golf courses, OHV park or just hanging out in the downtown area. I’m honored the board of directors has entrusted me to take care of our members and foster a healthy business community. I’m continually impressed with the teamwork and collaboration exhibited by local business owners and organizations whether we’re planning a local event or weighing in on more serious development issues. I would like to thank all the business owners who have invested not only money, but also their creativity, insight and elbow grease to growing this city. Your partnership helps provide the necessary resources to ensure our membership and community continue to grow.

Letter from the President As a lifelong Wise County resident, it is an honor to serve as Executive Director of the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation and work closely with the many successful and talented businesses in Bridgeport. Since 2018, I have served on the Bridgeport Chamber Board of Directors and prior to that as a Chamber Ambassador. We have exciting projects and events planned for this year! Our community is growing and has changed so much in the last five years. Positive growth happens with planning and preparedness. Bailey volunteers at the e press food pantry at the irst nited ethodist Church in Bridgeport, helping organize a food drive that feeds appro imately families per month. enise is al ays illing to help anybody and ma e sure e re helping people in our community, said andee a ins, Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce ambassador. hes al ays very giving and she ept giving this year. Bailey has led the monthly mobile food pantry since after the arrant rea ood Ban reached out to the church for ays to help feed the community. ith her involvement in the food pantry and other ministry efforts, Bailey has itnessed the need in Bridgeport and surrounding areas gro . ver the past t o years, theres been a lot of families that are struggling ith putting food on the table, Bailey said. rom C to price increases and everything going on, people are struggling. t s older people, young families and even single adults. The mobile food pantry provides fresh produce, dairy products and other perishable food items that aren t typically found at food pantries. Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce ecutive irector athan Byers said Bailey has made a habit of serving her community, adding that she ent above and beyond during the year to help. Byers said this year s citizen of the year, and other a ard candidates ere hard to choose because of the great community response during the pandemic. Letter from the Mayor
A
s mayor of the City of Bridgeport, I welcome you to our town. We are a community of more than 6,000 residents who enjoy a high quality of life in western Wise County. We possess all the charm of small-town life combined with a long list of special events each year. Our city currently enjoys a robust economy that draws on our convenient location at the juncture of U.S. Highway 380 and Texas 114. To experience Bridgeport, come visit our newly renovated historic downtown district, full of restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, crafts, shops and establishments of all kinds. The district is fastly becoming an entertainment venue for the area. Elsewhere around Bridgeport are numerous other businesses and restaurants that serve up a hometown menu of goods and services and stand ready to provide customers with friendly service and hospitality. Just west of the city is big and beautiful Lake Bridgeport, which offers an array of year-round sporting activities. On the northwest side of
town, the City of Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department operates a 300-acre off-road vehicle park, along with a 300-acre hiking and biking trail system. Parks and Recreation also offers a municipal public swimming pool at Harwood Park, the downtown Arcadia Theater, a community center and numerous other programs for children and adults. The Bridgeport Municipal Airport boasts a newly renovated 5,005-foot runway that serves numerous aircraft, a terminal building and has aviation and jet fuel available. The city’s police department is a state-recognized law enforcement agency having been recognized two times, and the library provides a variety of services, including public computers for use. Bridgeport is a community of remarkable people, who have created a friendly, hometown atmosphere for visitors, shoppers and those that wish to locate their home or business here. We have outstanding schools, exceptional city services, numerous churches, several community organizations and a host of volunteers and citizens that make our town a place to be and a place to see.
