After improvements to racing facilities, increased purses, and significant local philanthropic contributions, an essential financial foundation is needed to keep Foxfield striving forward. Founders Circle makes the difference.

In 2020, Foxfield was saved from development and its 179 acres are permanently preserved, allowing for broader engagement through charitable activities

Foxfield is more than a venue for steeplechase racing.

It is a vital resource for inclusive community events and the preservation of open space

MISSION

To promote the preservation of open space in Albemarle County; to elevate recognition of Virginia steeplechase racing by hosting industryleading events through both adoption of best practice and innovation, set the highest standards of safety for all race day participants-horses, rider and spectators; and, to develop high levels of community engagement which facilitate both philanthropic support of local charities and greater appreciation for equestrian sport.

VISION

Cultivate a culture of safety, excellence, innovation, appreciation and understanding, and build a sustainable future for steeplechase racing in Virginia, and nationwide, for an increasingly inclusive and traditional audience, while benefitting our local community through philanthropy and the preservation of open space

Your support allowed us to invest in the property to enhance safety and the race day experience for both horses and guests at the Spring and Fall Races. As a result, we saw improved engagement with the community and our charitable partners

Looking to the future, we have developed a strategic plan identifying areas for future investment to further elevate the race day experience, engage more deeply with the community, preserve our precious open space, and guide for an even better future

Established by Mariann de Tejeda, the races are one of Charlottesville’s most treasured traditions, drawing over 17,000 attendees on the last Saturday in April and the first Sunday in October. As per the long standing tradition and wishes of Mrs. Tejeda, a philanthropic partner is highlighted, celebrated and presented a donation

Since 2020, Foxfield amplifies the messages and supports long term partners, Camp Holiday Trails and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville
