The 64th Annual Church Leadership Conference (STVU @ VUU)

Page 1

WELCOME Welcome to the 64th Annual Church Leadership Conference on the campus of Virginia Union University. The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University is committed to its legacy of partnering and supporting the Black Church through the academic offerings of varied disciplines of theological education. We also engage in practicum that provide seminarians with supervised practical applications within the local church, as well as training programs for leaders and laypersons from various congregations, through our Evans-Smith Institute of Church Leadership Furthermore, STVU has heard your expressed interest in engaging in both theoretical and practical leadership training within the local churches to be better equipped to lead the Black Church in the 21st Century effectively. In response, both distinguished faculty members and alums serving in various ministerial contexts have conjoined during this session to offer relevant courses in prophetic leadership from a biblical perspective that will assist in transforming the ministries you serve. Perhaps your witness will be as that of Peter’s when he exclaimed unto Jesus following Jesus’ transfiguration, “It is good for us to be here.” Thank you for your continued support of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology. Please consider furthering your theological education and ministerial training here where your context and community matter.

THANK YOU

As I prepare to Retire on May 14, 2021, I would like to say thank you to the many students, conference participants, instructors, facilitators, volunteers, and many others who have helped in any capacity over the past twenty-six years. Working as the Administrative Assistant in the Center for Lifelong Learning & Leadership for twenty-six years has been a pleasure and a passion as I helped those who entered the learning program and different conferences gain what they needed for their personal and spiritual growth. I entered the Evans-Smith Program in 1989 – 1992 seeking ministry direction as many of the students seek today. I ask that you don’t stop learning or “studying to show yourself approved.” II Timothy 2:15. I would also like to thank the following persons who contributed to my years of employment, growth, knowledge, and guidance; the Human Resource Department of VUU, Dr. John W. Kinney, Dr. Gloria Taylor, Dr. Ray McKenzie, Dr. Adam Bond, Dr. Corey Walker, Dr. Patricia Gould Champ, Dr. Gregory Howard, Dr. Deborah Martin, and the many coworkers from February 1995 – April 2021. A special thank you to the professors who taught me while I matriculated through the School of Theology and instilled in me valuable knowledge that I will use in several ministry areas: earning the Master of Divinity and the Master of Arts in Christian Education degrees.

Sincerely Submitted,

Rev. Jacqueline Dianne Anderson
