The Center for Community Services (CCS) serves as the primary nonprofit in the Golden Strip that addresses the challenges of systemic poverty. Our goal is to break the cycle of generational poverty by empowering families to reach financial stability. Our research-based approach and commitment to treat each person we encounter with dignity is the foundation for client success in improving their own situation.

CCS encompasses several local nonprofits under one roof, providing a hub in the Golden Strip where people who face challenging circumstances can come for both immediate assistance and long-term help in breaking the cycle of poverty.

The Center provides emergency assistance to thousands of local families each year with utility, rent, and prescription assistance. CCS operates a client choice food pantry, allowing clients to choose the items in their food box, making it more effective in serving their family’s needs.

Our onsite partners provide convenient access to services that address the full continuum of family and self care. The Center provides quality education and child-care to 83 children each day through the Headstart program, is home to hundreds of students studying for the GED or learning English as a Second Language, provides health-care services to those without insurance through our free clinic, and our family stability advocates provide direct service to those trying to become stable again.

Our comprehensive approach to providing essential services to struggling families in our community gives them the tools they need to reach self sufficiency. This caring relationship encourages clients and fosters their belief that they can bring about true change in their lives.
