In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boardinghouse, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

We will reopen with our newest exhibit celebrating Fountain Hills’ own Desert Botanical Garden and exploring our native plants, animals, and geology through the lens of the garden. Join us on the first for fun & games, refreshments, and to learn more along the way! We will also be kicking off a new lecture series with guest speakers specializing in topics about our beautiful Sonoran Desert plants, animals, and water issues. You’ll be part of a global celebration as sky watchers worldwide turn their eyes moonward on the same night. This NASA-sponsored event is free and open to everyone.

Milestone Sculpture Tours

At a staggering 150 pieces, Fountain Hills is home to one of the largest art collections in Arizona. Set against the backdrop of the McDowell Mountains, the Four Peaks, and a towering fountain, come experience these sculptures in an informative and engaging docent-led tour. Learn about the artists, the production techniques, and the story behind some of the most interesting pieces in the collection.

Our 60 - 90 minute tour begins with a meet and greet in the lobby of the River of Time and includes a short film about the lower Verde River Valley, a brief tour through the Museum, the guided tour of the sculptures in Centennial Park, and a return to the museum to visit the gift shop.

Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills

The Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills (SCFH) is a volunteer-led nonprofit that works to protect and promote some of our community’s favorite outdoor spaces — the Fountain Hills McDowell Mountain Preserve, the Desert Botanical Garden, and the Lake Overlook Trail. SCFH is supported by donations from people like you who care about keeping these natural areas beautiful and accessible.

* Explore the Sonoran Desert’s nocturnal world through guided experiences that blend natural history with stargazing. Night Sky Tourist collaborates with the Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills to offer three unique fall programs under our exceptional dark skies. These free events combine desert ecology insights with night sky connections, but space is limited, and registration is required.

EXPLORE the Yavapai Nation with the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center! EXPERIENCE the rich culture and history of the Fort McDowell Yavapai people on our immersive tour of the Fort McDowell Yavapai reservation. We kick off our 7th season on November 6th with something new. Enjoy the tour in the comfort of an air-conditioned touring bus and a new focus on

our Sonoran Desert environment from a cultural perspective. The tour features a look at the importance of the Verde River as a water source for current tribal farms and as a central source of much that has supported the tribe throughout time. Other environmental topics, landscapes, and stops are also planned, including a visit to the FMYN Cultural Center. End your excursion with a delightful lunch at the WeKoPa Resort Casino’s Ahnala restaurant.

Throughout the year, our dedicated Holiday Mart elves (a passionate team of volunteers) spring into action, collecting and curating a dazzling array of high-end holiday decorations. Donations are cleaned and repaired to twinkle like new. Explore and discover vintage and specialty items alike. Holiday Mart starts in our shared lobby with the library, then our interior lobby, hallway, and out into our patio. This year will have some extra special, large Santas of every kind for sale that you won’t want to miss, along with much, much more!

We’ll also have a special section of fall, Halloween, and other non-Christmas decorative items. There will definitely be something for everyone. Thank you for supporting your local museum!

Join Night Sky Tourist’s Vicky Derksen for cultural perspectives on meteor showers and NASA Solar System Ambassador Ted Blank for insights about the Geminids themselves. These medium-speed meteors create beautiful long trails, and with the moon rising after midnight, conditions are perfect for meteor watching. You’ll also touch a real meteorite and view Jupiter and Saturn through telescopes.
