3 in. lift Foundation Tech Construction was hired to lift and level a Wells Fargo Branch that had been sinking into soft sandy soil, due to a sewer leak. Over time sewer water had been seeping into the soil below this very busy branch of Wells Fargo Bank, causing the perimeter to sink 2.8 inches, and the interior floor, up to 3.2 inches. Initial repair, was to demolish the existing foundation and slab on grade interior floors, then construct new footings, and pour all new floors in the area that had settled. Foundation Tech was contracted to provide a less evasive and more economical approach without the need to close the branch for an extended period. ECP “push” Resistance piers were recommended to lift the structure, along with polyurethane deep injection soil stabilization, to solidify the very sandy soil. Once the cast iron sewer line was replaced, Foundation Tech installed 34 ECP “push” resistance piers along the perimeter of the building where settlement had occurred. A 100% success to lift the structure back to original grade, was achieved. New concrete was poured to replace the area excavated for the sewer line repair, and 12,000 lbs. of HMI 402 Deep Injection polyurethane foam was injected to a depth of 7 feet, to stabilize and solidify the soil below all areas that had settled within the branch. Company technicians also inspected the complete interior of the building using a GPR, (ground penetrating radar) unit to locate additional voids under the slab floor caused by the sewer leak. Multiple areas were located and filled with polyurethane foam to eliminate the possibility of future settlement. The total job was completed within three weeks, with zero down time for the branch. The Prime contractor hired to remodel the back end of the branch was able to complete their work faster and with less disruption to the banks employees and customers, utilizing the services of Foundation Tech Construction. Wells Fargo was able to return the branch to full operation with minimal disruption, and saved $ thousands $ over the conventional methods suggested by their engineering department.
