To My Beloved Saint Ann Catholic School Community,
I can’t believe that I have started my tenth year here at St. Ann’s Parish. Where does the time go? A lot has changed in that time, and even in the six years I have been pastor.
The school’s growth has been incredible. When I became the pastor in 2019, there were 252 students registered for that school year. There are over 500 students enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year. We now must utilize every classroom, and we have a waitlist for some grades. What a great problem to have and to kick off our 70th anniversary!
The school is not the only entity to see growth. We are registering new households and families every week, and the number of baptisms has also increased twofold. We have also instituted some new lay societies in the parish. We welcomed the Council of Catholic Women and The Ancient Order of Hibernians. We have just instituted a rosary group that will create rosaries for the parish and for our parish outreach, such as when visiting Catholic patients at NCH or nursing homes.
As you can see, great things are happening at St. Ann’s parish. The parish and the school are thriving. What a great blessing for all of us.
Yours in Christ, William Davis

Mission Statement
Saint Ann Catholic School, a ministry of Saint Ann Parish, rooted in Gospel values and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, welcomes and inspires children in PreK through 8 to live Jesus, to embrace academic excellence, and to foster discipleship in the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales, the Gentleman Saint, and Saint Ann, the Grandmother of Jesus. In partnership with our families and the community, we support and celebrate each child as the Heart of God on earth through an education of spirit, mind, and body.

Dear Saint Ann Families,
I am thrilled to announce that this year marks the 70th anniversary of Saint Ann Catholic School. Education is a lifelong journey, and for seven decades, Saint Ann has been dedicated to providing an education that nurtures the spirit, mind, and body.
At Saint Ann Catholic School, our commitment is to provide an exceptional academic program grounded in the teachings of the Catholic faith. Our teachers strive to inspire and challenge our students from preschool through 8th grade, ensuring they receive the best education possible. With smaller classes, we can personalize learning for all Saint Ann students.
Together, we can continue to build upon the strong foundation of faith, academic excellence, and community that Saint Ann Catholic School is known for while also promoting the teachings of the Catholic Church in all that we do.
In Christ, Micah O’Connor

Our classrooms are buzzing with excitement as students dive into our newly enhanced curriculum, designed to enrich learning at every grade level. From our youngest learners in PreK to our middle school scholars, the programs are engaging minds and nurturing hearts. Bright photos across our classrooms showcase children deeply engaged— whether they’re practicing handwriting with Catholic prayers, exploring Florida history through hands-on social studies, or collaborating on science labs using the latest Savvas materials.

Our faith-infused learning goals remain at the center of every update, ensuring that academic excellence and Catholic values go hand in hand. The new Wright Bright Writing Program encourages creative expression, while Writing Our Catholic Faith allows students to practice handwriting through sacred words and prayers. In PreK through first grade, new reading curricula like Happily Ever After and Superkids set a strong foundation for lifelong literacy. At the same time, older students benefit from expanded vocabulary, grammar, and science programs that meet or exceed Diocese of Venice and Florida standards. By thoughtfully weaving faith into each subject area, our school continues to empower students to grow as confident learners and compassionate leaders, prepared to live out their Catholic values in every aspect of their education.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines a virtue as a “habitual and firm disposition to do the good” (CCC 1803). In other words, a virtue is a good habit that, when practiced, becomes more natural and easier to complete. We want our students not only to understand what actions are good, but to practice them in daily life.
Each month, the students will be focusing on a particular virtue and discussing ways to practice that virtue in everyday situations. We look to the saints as models of virtue and learn about how they practiced them in their own lives. At the end of each month, each classroom teacher selects a student from their class who exemplifies that virtue, and those students are recognized after Mass on the last Friday of the month.

“Learning religion at St. Ann’s allows me to be able to follow in God’s footsteps and be a kind, loving child of God.”
–Elementary Student

Our Patron Saint: St. Francis de Sales
St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622) is the patron saint of writers, teachers, and the deaf. Known for his gentle spirit, deep faith, and compassionate guidance, he served as Bishop of Geneva and brought thousands back to the Church with kindness and clarity. He taught that holiness is possible in everyday life. His motto, “Live Jesus!”, reminds us to center our daily actions in love and faith. At Saint Ann School, his example inspires our students, faculty, and families to live with patience, humility, and devotion to God.
Each day, our students recite the Direction of Intention: “My God, I give you this day. I offer you, now, all of the good that I shall do, and I promise to accept, for love of you, all of the difficulty that I shall meet. Help me to conduct myself during this day in a manner pleasing to you. Amen.”
“I like that we get to learn about faith at our school and that we get to receive Communion at Mass on Friday.”
–Elementary Student
“The daily religion class has a strong impact on me. Without it, I would not be as strong in my faith toward the church and others.”
–Middle Schooler
“Going to Mass on Fridays and praying in every class has helped me to connect to God and grow in my relationship with him.”
–Middle Schooler

In the late 1930s, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Griesedieck of St. Louis began vacationing in Naples with their eight children, when the town was still a quiet fishing village. Attending Sunday Mass required traveling to Fort Myers, and later, a priest would occasionally celebrate Mass in the Quonset Hut Movie Theater in Naples.
As Naples grew, the Griesediecks and other faithful families worked to establish the first Catholic church. During this time, their youngest daughter, Ann, tragically lost her life in a car accident while returning home from Barry College in 1950. In her memory, the new church was named Saint Ann. Dedicated in 1951, the church became the first Catholic parish in Naples.
Plans for Saint Ann’s parochial school began on February 23, 1955. Families pledged an average of $450 over three years to make Catholic education in Naples possible.
In August 1956, three Sisters of Saint Joseph from St. Augustine arrived in Naples to begin teaching. Until the new school was ready, classes were held under the banyan tree by the current Rooney Hall, inside the church and convent, and even at the Naples Hotel, generously provided by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Watkins, Sr.
Construction began in the summer of 1956, and on September 3, 1957, the new school opened as the first Catholic school in Collier County. Designed for Naples’ semi-tropical climate, the one-story building included classrooms for kindergarten through 8th grade, a library, music and art rooms, and space for 320 students. Opening enrollment was 309.
The school’s arrival spurred rapid parish growth. With $75,000 raised by parishioners plus $50,000 from other sources, Saint Ann Catholic School quickly became a cornerstone of Catholic education in Collier County—a mission that continues today.

Each morning at Saint Ann begins with a simple but meaningful routine: as students arrive, they slip their cell phones into secure Yondr pouches, which stay locked throughout the school day. It’s a school-wide commitment that helps everyone stay present, focused, and fully engaged in learning and community life.
The day officially kicks off with student-led morning announcements, broadcast live on camera to the entire school. These moments include prayer, school news, and birthday shout-outs—small but significant ways we stay connected as a community.
Throughout the day, students move through core classes—math, science, language arts, and social studies. Lessons are designed to be hands-on and

engaging, with teachers often weaving in faithbased themes that bring deeper meaning to what students are learning. Specials including band and art offer creative outlets where students can explore their talents and collaborate with peers.
When the final bell rings, the day doesn’t end. Many students head to the gym for volleyball practice or gather for club meetings—like the always-popular Investment Club. Whether on the court, on stage, or at a club meeting, students continue to grow in confidence, teamwork, and leadership.
From the first bell to the last activity, life at Saint Ann is filled with learning, faith, and community. It’s a place where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged to become their very best selves—inside and outside the classroom.

A glimpse into Saint Ann’s vibrant extracurricular scene—featuring music performances, sports teams in action, creative moments in art, and student-run clubs like the Minnie Vinnie Club. These activities help students discover their passions and build lasting friendships.

Dear Mrs. Ferrao and Mrs. Macia,
I hope you are both having a wonderful summer so far. I wanted to send an email to say one thing to both of you: Thank you.
My journey to my success started as soon as I entered those gates, as soon as I walked to my first class, in fact, as soon as I came here, to this beautiful city and place. And obviously, how much I have grown, how much success I’ve had, and how much success I hope to have, would not have started if both of you were not there to enlighten the fire in my heart to inspire. To give. To love. To tend to others and be a shepherd amongst many sheep. You have paved the way to my success, and to be honest, I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t met both of you.
Now, the Foundation as well. Both of you are inspiring members, and you are both so amazing in what you do and have done for Saint Ann Catholic School. You have made every year feel like the last. Fun, wonderful, and a great end to every school year. As I journey on to St. John Neumann, college, and beyond, I need always to be reminded how important the roots of all that began. As everyone knows, nothing can grow without roots that go deep into the ground, and with those roots, it grows into a tree and bears fruit.
Thank you for being the best inspiration for my success. Thank you for aiding in my success. And finally, thank you for all you have done and will continue to do for Saint Ann in the coming years.
Sincerely,
Lorenzo Cirino

IT WAS A NIGHT TO REMEMBER!
The Town & Country Gala at Sandalwood Stables was a magical evening under a stunning Sperry tent, with the Ben Allen Band setting the tone for celebration. More than 325 guests joined us for an unforgettable night on March 29, 2025, featuring an exciting live auction—including dedicated parking spots to skip the car-line, unique trips, and special experiences. The evening concluded with a heartfelt Call to the Heart, raising vital support for teacher incentives and playground improvements.

Current parent Larry DeCaria has stepped into the role of Athletic Director. With his passion for sports, teamwork, and motivating studentathletes, he’s committed to making this an unforgettable year.
We’re especially proud to welcome our newest partner, Naples United Football Club, now supporting students from kindergarten through 4th grade. Led by Enoch Showunmi, a former professional soccer player with a 12-year career (including the Championship League, England’s fiercely competitive second division after the Premier League), this partnership has already boosted enrollment with over 40 young athletes. And we’re only just getting started as spring promises even more excitement!

Volleyball, flag football, and cross country, were a huge success, building energy and team spirit across campus.
An action- packed basketball season, with more schools joining the competition than ever before.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our Annual Color Run on February 27, 2026 —our biggest Athletic Department fundraiser. This year’s proceeds will go toward upgrading the gym scoreboard and sound system, creating an even more electric game-day atmosphere.

To close out the year, we’ll roll into a full spring lineup featuring boys’ and girls’ soccer, track and field, middle school golf, and intramural fun for our younger athletes.
Here’s to an incredible year of sports, teamwork, and school spirit—let’s make it the best one yet!

In Fall 2023, Saint Ann School began the critical work of shaping its future through the creation of a new five-year strategic plan. Completed in 2024, the plan, Achieving Excellence through Spirit, Mind, and Body: Strategic Plan 2023–2028, serves as a guiding framework for purposeful planning across all aspects of school life.
The plan is organized into eight key areas: Academics, Advancement, Catholic Identity, Enrollment, Finance, Governance, Student Life, and Facilities. Together, these areas work in unison to strengthen our school community and provide regular updates to the Saint Ann School Board.
Already, the implementation phase has brought meaningful progress. In the area of facilities,
we are proud to share several updates:
• Installation of a new fire panel to enhance campus safety.
• Renovation of the outdoor basketball court, now updated also to accommodate pickleball.
• Plans are underway for a new playground that will provide safe and engaging spaces for our youngest students.
• Installation of a new security camera system to support a safe learning environment.
As the work of the strategic plan continues, each area will play a vital role in ensuring that Saint Ann School remains strong, vibrant, and mission-driven for years to come. Together, we are truly achieving excellence through spirit, mind, and body.

When people think about Saint Ann School, they often remember more than the classrooms and textbooks. They remember the Fall festivals, the Christmas traditions, the spring events, and the sense of belonging that came from being part of the community. Behind so many of those memories is the Home & School Association (HSA).
The HSA is a parent-led volunteer group dedicated to supporting teachers, enriching student life, and strengthening the Saint Ann community. While much of the work happens quietly behind the scenes, its impact is felt every day by students, families, and staff.
One of the HSA’s most visible roles is organizing room parents for every grade. These volunteers work directly with teachers to coordinate communication with families and help bring classroom celebrations to life. From Halloween to Valentine’s Day, room parents plan parties and provide the crafts, games, and treats that make the day special for our youngest learners.
The HSA also takes the lead on events that bring the entire school together. Annual favorites like the Fall Festival, Breakfast with Santa, and the Father-Daughter Dance create joyful moments that students will carry with them for years. Fundraising events like the Book Fair or Charleston Wrap add another layer of fun, while also helping to fund projects that benefit every student.

Beyond parties and events, the HSA plays a vital role in funding the extras that make Saint Ann special. In recent years, HSA contributions have resurfaced the basketball court, added pickleball lines and equipment, and provided new letterboard signs at our entrances. Teachers and staff are also supported through appreciation lunches, gifts, and ongoing recognition, which remind them just how valued they are by the community they serve.
Perhaps most importantly, the HSA works to weave together the fabric of Saint Ann. Alums and extended family members are always welcome at events, helping to bridge past and present and show current students the strength of the Saint Ann tradition. The HSA also ensures that volunteer opportunities are available in many forms, so everyone can contribute in a way that fits their schedule and talents.
At its core, the HSA embodies three values: faith, fun, and family. Faith guides the mission, ensuring that events and efforts reflect the Catholic values at the heart of the school. Fun ensures that students’ days are filled with joy and lasting memories. And family reminds us that Saint Ann is more than a school—it is a community that continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of its parents, teachers, alums, and friends.
