In June 2007, the Volga Dream set sail on her maiden cruise through Russia’s waterways with a handful of international travel agents and critics aboard. Few believed that the highest European cruising standards were possible in Russia.

We proved they are and even enhanced the experience with traditional Russian hospitality and care. Limited passenger numbers, gourmet food and impeccable service combined with Russia’s stunning countryside and fascinating cultural history; that’s our recipe for making the Volga Dream an ‘unmissable’ Russian experience.

Founded by Vladimir Esakov, the Volga Dream Company and vessel is now owned and operated by the Esakov family. Completely redesigned and refitted over 2 long years in dry dock, our charming ship is kept scrupulously clean by a thoroughly professional crew for whom safety is always a priority. All service staff speak English and are personally hand picked by the owners. With just about 100 passengers aboard and a crew of 60, the Volga Dream boasts the highest crew-to-passenger ratio on the river.

We offer two glorious Volga Dream routes; the Lower Volga journey is exclusively ship based while the Moscow-St. Petersburg cruise includes stays in the finest hotels in those historic city centres, near the greatest sights and within easy reach of world-class restaurants and theatres.

We pride ourselves on small tours groups led by the very best and carefully selected guides.

HISTORY

Russia has played a major role in the world for centuries. First in trade with the Vikings and Greeks, then replacing the mighty Byzantine Empire when Constantinople’s control was broken and Russia emerged as a unified state.

That nation became an Empire under the famous ‘Greats’, Peter and Catherine, and later following Napoleon’s defeat in the 19th century, the ‘Gendarme of Europe’. In the 20th century it was the world’s second superpower. Rivers and canals have always played a vital role in Russia’s expansion, travel, trade and leisure.

GEOGRAPHY

Russia is the world’s biggest nation, bordering Poland and Norway in the west and China to the east. The country is permeated by waterways, including Europe’s longest river, the Volga, whose far-reaching network offers an ideal way to see the beauty of Russia.

From St. Petersburg, the Venice-of-the-north, through Europe’s largest lakes nestled in serene forests and on to the southern desert heat, the Volga follows an enchanting route all the way to the Caspian and Black Seas.

CULTURE

Russia’s story stretches back more than a thousand years, further back in history its lands were bitterly contested by the Russian princes and the Mongol and Byzantine empires before they were united as one country. The Rurik, Romanov and Soviet eras have all left their marks on modern Russia.

As well as Peter and Catherine, Russia has given the world many other ‘greats’: beautiful churches, ancient icons, avantgarde and constructivism, world-class ballet as well as classical art, music and literature. Some of the greatest creators have been Russian: Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky, Pushkin and many other artists were all inspired by the country through which the Volga Dream gently plies her way surrounded by glorious countryside.

The Volga Dream Moscow Experience begins with the opportunity to join a guided walk around the central highlights.

Perhaps the most famous landmark of all is the Kremlin, with its beautiful cathedrals and the unique Armoury Museum, which boasts an impressive and opulent collection of royal finery, ancient weapons and regal carriages. Red Square, the heart of Moscow, is never a dull place to walk. As the city’s largest gallery dedicated to European art, this is truly one of Moscow’s most treasured cultural gems. A rare treat indeed for Moscow visitors, guests are given a backstage tour of the historic and recently restored Bolshoi Theatre and the chance to meet one of the resident dancers.

Equally loved and hated, the Soviet Union was a major force in the world for most of the 20th century. The Soviet Museum offers fascinating insight into how the USSR actually worked and what it was like to live in.

St. Petersburg On the shores of the Baltic Sea, Peter the Great founded the city to serve as a western seaport. Soon thereafter, St. Petersburg became the country’s capital and remained so until 1918.

Determined to showcase a new, cultured and refined Russia, Peter called the new metropolis ‘The Venice of the North’.

Even today, with a reputation as one of the world’s most beautiful cities, residents still consider their home to be Russia’s cultural capital. St. Petersburg Highlights This is a unique city on almost every level, historically, culturally and architecturally. Classically colonnaded buildings line wide, clean streets that are packed to the brim with the finest art, entertainment, theatre and fine dining. The country’s second city is a delight in the summer months as the famous ‘White Nights’ provide a perfect backdrop to an evening stroll.

CATHERINE’S PALACE & PETERHOF

Two royal residences built to show Russian grandeur. Peter the Great wanted a home to rival Versailles and bring a hint of European magnificence to his medieval aristocracy.

Both palaces are true wonders; the lavish Amber Room was stolen by the Nazis but has been exquisitely recreated. Ornate royal living quarters and the sheer indulgent splendour of fountains, gardens and fine statues leave visitors with memories they’ll always cherish.

Catherine the Great’s royal residence is now home to one of the world’s greatest art collections. Six stunning buildings hold more than two million art treasures ranging from Stone Age to Da Vinci, Rafael, Titian and more.

The impressive Peacock Clock*, a beautifully decorated and preserved 8th century automaton, is a real highlight.

FABERGÉ MUSEUM

Peter Carl Fabergé gained worldwide fame with his glittering creations, often made for royalty. Visitors to this new and very popular attraction enjoy a dazzling collection of his trademark eggs, jewellery and objets d’art.

Founded by Viktor Vekselberg, the museum’s collection is said to be one of the most precious in the world and includes items bought from the Forbes family for a cool $100 million.

YUSUPOV PALACE

Entering is like walking into the most decadent past imaginable, a glimpse of how the wealthiest aristocracy once lived. Throughout the tour, guests are serenaded by a series of musical performances that add to the bygone atmosphere.

The basement contains an exhibition dedicated to Grigory Rasputin’s grisly murder by Prince Felix Yusupov.

UGLICH

The famous ‘Golden Ring’ is an archipelago of important and historic towns surrounding Moscow. Among them is one of the country’s oldest, which was founded under Igor, the last Varangian prince. Uglich once resisted the Mongol invasion and its ancient walls saw the grisly murder of young Dmitri, son of Ivan the Terrible.

The impressive Church of St. Dmitri on the Blood, which now stands where he died with its classic onion domes and blood red walls, is a fine example of classic Russian architecture. The Uglich tour ends with an enchanting choral concert in St. John’s Church.

YAROSLAVL

This, the oldest city on the Volga River, and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts a wealth of ancient orthodox treasures. The impressive Transfiguration of the Saviour, adorned with murals depicting St. John’s apocalyptic visions can be seen in the Spassky Monastery. The Church of St. Elijah the Prophet is decorated with an awe-inspiring selection of rich frescoes. For a real taste of pre-revolutionary Russia, visitors are entertained by a costumed reception at the Governor’s House.

GORITSY

Close to the shores of Beloye Ozero, or White Lake, once the ‘tsar’s fishing grounds’. It lies in a place so serene that ancient monks chose to build no fewer than three holy sites here, including the Ferapontov Monastery. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, its chapels boast magnificent frescoes by Dionysius, one of Russia’s most renowned icon painters.

The Kirillo-Belozersky was founded in 1397 to bring devotees ‘closer to God’. During tumultuous times, it was a refuge for many nobles and later a fortress that successfully repelled invading armies. In modern times though, Goritsy is much more welcoming!

KIZHI

The enormous Karelia region is a vast and naturally beautiful wilderness that spreads all the way from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Circle. The glorious island village of Kizhi consists almost entirely of the traditionally styled wooden buildings of ‘Old Russia’. Among them is the famous Transfiguration Church, a relatively new addition built in 1714. Remarkably, and in testament to the craftsmen of the time, not a single nail was used in its construction!

SVIRSTROY

A typical rural hamlet brought to life by warm and welcoming villagers. Guests are invited into local homes to enjoy classic Russian fare, tea with jam and ‘pirozhki’ (pies). Enthusiastic hosts share Russian traditions and the appeal of village life while proudly showing off their scrupulously kept homes and kitchen gardens.

The tour continues with a brief bus ride to see a unique World War II memorial and then, for a real glimpse of Russian life, a visit to a local primary school.

NIZHNY NOVGOROD

This was once a wealthy city thanks to its proximity to rich eastern trading routes. During the Soviet era, when it was known as Gorky, the city was closed to outsiders because of its military importance. It’s also where many political prisoners were sent to live out their days in exile.

The 16th-century Kremlin ramparts offer spectacular views and the city is known for its elaborately decorated churches. For Volga Dream guests, the highlight of the day is an evening folk concert performed by local children.

KAZAN

Sailing along the Volga, it soon becomes clear that the riverbank gradually ceases to be dominated by Orthodox churches. Instead, beautiful mosques appear as the river crosses into Tatarstan where the first stop is scenic Kazan, the region’s capital.

Inside the white walls of the citadel, the famous Kul Sharif mosque and the old Cathedral of Peter and Paul stand side-by-side symbolising the two faiths’ long and peaceful coexistence in the region. A concert of traditional Tatar music ends the Volga Dream’s day in Kazan.

SAMARA

Passing the Zhigulevskie Mountains offers wonderful views from the sundeck before touring this beautiful city. One of the key attractions is the fascinating Space Museum, which offers a revealing glimpse of how the Soviet Union pursued its ambitious journey to the cosmos.

The town is also noted for its beautiful esplanade, perfect for a relaxed stroll beside the Volga. This in turn leads to the Samara State Art Museum. Founded in 1897, it is home to a collection of more than 16,000 works of art.

SARATOV

This city is best known for its close associations with cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin.

The Russian hero who achieved worldwide fame as the first man in space lived and studied here.

Saratov used to be home to a large German community, a heritage that can still be seen in the local architecture. The Volga Dream tour visits the Radishchev State Art Museum, the first picture gallery in Russia outside Moscow and St. Petersburg.

VOLGOGRAD

Originally called Tsaritsyn, this remarkable city has been known by three different names over the course of its tumultuous and eventful history. Epic battles were fought here during Russia’s revolutionary period and it was renamed Stalingrad from 1925 to 1961 in honour of the USSR’s notorious leader.

During World War II, the city’s residents put up a heroic defence, repelling an advancing Nazi invasion. The battle for Stalingrad has gone down in history as a pivotal moment in the bloody conflict on the eastern front. The most ferocious and deadly fighting took place on Mamayev Hill, where an imposing memorial now stands close to the excellent Battle of Stalingrad Panorama Museum.

FINE DINING

We understand the importance of eating well while travelling. Our restaurant serves the highest standard of international cuisine, freshly made by our Cordon Bleu Chef. Choose either a sumptuous buffet or set menu for lunch while dinner is always four or five courses with full service. Praise for the exquisite quality of meals is yet another regular feature in feedback from past guests.

TIME AND SPACE

Our ship is designed with comfort in mind and, with only 100 guests, it’s never hard to find a quiet spot to just sit back and relax. The large, spacious Sun and Promenade Decks offer plenty of solid teak seating and all-round views of the glorious and ever-changing scenery. The library has a good selection of books and board games and there’s a lounge, openair bar, fitness centre and sauna.

WELL-BEING

We’ve tried to think of everything to ensure guests are always comfortable and above all safe. That starts with communication and every member of the service staff speaks English, which is the official language on board. We’re also ready for the unexpected: for our guests’ peace of mind, there’s always a doctor aboard the Volga Dream, the only crew member that we hope never has anything to do!

Never a Dull Moment Volga Dream guests don’t just take a geographical voyage through Russia’s glorious countryside and history, there’s also plenty of ‘hands on’ discovery of the country’s rich culture. We want to introduce travellers to our great traditions. Some are enlightening, some moving, others are just fun!

MEET THE PROFESSOR

From the Mongol hordes to Soviet times, Russia’s history is, like all of Europe’s, a complex web of political intrigue, war and peace, trade and treaties, as well as heroes and villains.

Academics devote whole lifetimes to studying Russia’s long past and one of them presents a series of lectures shedding light on everything from Gorbachev to Chekhov, Khrushchev to Ivan the Terrible and of course, contemporary Russia. Best of all, our Professor is on board throughout the cruise for informal conversation.

BEGINNER’S RUSSIAN

The Russian language can be rather beautiful and poetic and we know that many seasoned travellers enjoy trying their hand at different languages. Our teachers provide an introduction to the riches of Russian, so guests can try out a few useful words and phrases on real Russians!

VODKA TASTING

Few people ever realise that vodka can be as diverse and delicate as, for example, fine whiskey. There are many regional variations and a glorious assortment of flavours and preparations. Our expert leads guests through a variety of different vodkas. An event guaranteed to raise spirits!

RUSSIAN DINING EXPERIENCE

All our dining is international but for Russian Dining night, the Chef includes a selection of traditional Russian dishes: Chicken Kiev, Kulebyaka and no Russian table is complete without Borsch. To add to the ‘Taste of Russia’ optional Russian dress, or at least a touch of Russian style, is provided along with enthusiastic help from our staff!

CLASSICAL PIANO

Some of the greatest classical music ever written comes from Russia. It’s hard to imagine a more fitting stage for a virtuoso solo recital by our resident concert pianist than the mighty Volga or a better backdrop than the heart of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov’s own serene homeland.

MATRYOSHKA PAINTING

There is nothing more typically Russian than a Matryoshka. It embodies the fact that there’s always something deeper to be found in every aspect of Russian life. Learning the traditional designs and techniques used to decorate these iconic dolls offers a pleasant diversion and some cathartic creativity!

Accommodation Where modern amenities meet unashamedly old-fashioned service and style. As we gently sail Russia’s majestic Volga, we know how important it is for guests to sleep well and in comfort during their travels.

We aim to recreate the classic First Class standards of bygone days. This is reflected in everything from the ship’s plush carpeting to fine bed linen.

Guests are made to feel at home amid beautifully appointed interiors throughout the vessel and of course the staterooms are no exception.

The Volga Dream boasts a choice of staterooms, each beautifully decorated and offering the comfort expected of a fine hotel room. Unlike many other cruise vessels, there are no inside cabins

aboard the Volga Dream. All our staterooms enjoy an outside view.

Delightfully comfortable beds are prepared using the finest bed linen with a daily turndown service.

All staterooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower, a spacious closet, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, flat-screen satellite TV, electronic safe, minibar, radio, hair dryer, bathrobes and slippers, 220v outlets, and of course, a fruit basket waiting to welcome guests aboard.

TERMS & CONDITIONS These Terms and Conditions should be read carefully and apply when we are the organiser of your package including travel by air and a cruise. In all other cases Fred. Olsen Travel is simply an agent for World Wide Cruise Inc. and you will receive a Confirmation Invoice from us on their behalf after the booking has been made. Where we act as an agent, only clauses 16 to 17 apply and you should ask for a copy of World Wide Cruises Inc.’s booking conditions before confirming your holiday if you have not seen them already.

Your contract is with Fred. Olsen Travel Ltd (“FOT”), a company registered in England and Wales (Company Registration No. 2287241). A contract will exist when we have accepted a deposit and issued our confirmation invoice. These Booking Conditions, together with any other information brought to your attention before you booked your package, form the basis of your contract and set out our respective rights and obligations, and all bookings are accepted by us subject to these Booking Conditions, which are governed by English Law, and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there and wish to do so. In these Booking Conditions, references to “we” and “us” mean Fred. Olsen Travel and “you” and “your” include the lead-named person on the confirmation invoice (who must be at least 18 years old at the time of booking) and all persons on whose behalf a booking is made. The term “Vessel” refers to MS Volga Dream or any ship substituted therefore, and its tenders or any other similar means of conveyance. The term “Baggage” shall mean such baggage allowed aboard pursuant to the terms of your booking, which is placed in your cabin, or any baggage which has been stored in the Vessel’s baggage room, holds or safe against receipt therefore at your request.

1. Reservations, Deposit and Final Payment 1.1 To make a reservation please contact Fred. Olsen Travel, Olympus House, 2 Olympus Close, Ipswich IP1 5LN on 0800 021 3186, email sales@fredrivercruises.co.uk, website www. fredrivercruises.co.uk/volga-dream, or contact your preferred ABTA agent.

1.2 A minimum, non-refundable deposit of 10% of the total holiday cost is required at the time of booking. In addition to the deposit, payment for flights and other services may be required and may also be non-refundable. A receipt will be issued upon payment.

1.3 The remaining balance must be paid no later than 90 days prior to the embarkation or departure date. Bookings made less than 90 days prior to the embarkation or departure date must be paid in full on confirmation of the reservation. If the balance is not paid in time, we reserve the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit.

1.4 A surcharge may apply to payments made by corporate credit cards and credit cards issued outside of the European Economic Area.

1.5 All monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust at all times. This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us for so long as we do not fail. In the unlikely event of our failure, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us.

2. Pricing 2.1 The price of the package includes: (i) Transport for the outward and homeward bound journeys, including transfers, outlining the type of transport, characteristics and category as featured in the contract or documentation submitted to you. (ii) The accommodation, with the board type featured in the contract or in the documentation submitted to you. Special diets (vegetarian or special diets) are only guaranteed if they have been agreed by the parties when the contract is formalised. (iii) All other services and complements specified in the brochure or which is expressly stated in the contract or documentation submitted to you.

2.2 The price of the package does not include Visas, and/or government charges for entering and leaving any of the countries included in the itinerary, that will be paid directly by you if required by the local authorities, tourist charges for accommodation, excess luggage, vaccination certificates, beverages on board the Vessel, laundry, telephone and internet connections, medical service, mini bar, and gift shop purchases. We reserve the right to amend the price of unsold holidays at any time and correct errors in the prices of confirmed holidays within 7 days of the booking.

2.3 Price review. Pricing is accurate at time of printing. Changes in (transportation costs, including the cost of fuel) (dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports) and (exchange rates) mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However, there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that, plus an administration charge of £1 per person together with an amount to cover any agent commission. If this means you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges.

Should you decide to cancel you must do so within 14 days from the date on your final invoice.

Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that any travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place.

3. Financial Protection 3.1 We provide full financial protection for our package holidays.

3.2 For flight-based holidays this is through our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 0944.

When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative).

3.3 In some cases, where we aren’t able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

3.4 If we are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.

3.5 When you buy a package holiday that doesn’t include a flight, protection is provided by way of a bond held by Fred. Olsen Travel Ltd with ABTA. For further information, please see www.abta.com.

4. ABTA We are a Member of ABTA, membership number 96925. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you ABTA’s scheme for the resolution of disputes which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. If we can’t resolve your complaint, go to www.abta.com to use ABTA’s simple procedure.

5. Embarkation and Passport and Visa Requirements 5.1 You are required to be on board the Vessel one hour before departure. Enhanced security procedures may require additional time. At the time of embarkation, you are responsible for having received all medical inoculations necessary for the voyage and having in your possession your ticket, valid passport, visas, medical card and other documents necessary for scheduled ports of call and disembarkations.

5.2 It is your responsibility to check and fulfil the passport, visa, health and immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. You must check requirements for your own specific circumstances with the relevant Embassy and/or Consulate and your own doctor as applicable. Most countries now require passports to be valid for at least 6 months after your return date. If your passport is in its final year, you should check with the relevant Embassy. For further information, please contact the Passport Office on 0870 5210410 or visit www. passport.gov.uk. Up to date travel advice can be obtained from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, visit www.fco.gov.uk. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements.

5.3 You will be required to register a valid credit card or payment method at the Purser’s desk upon embarkation for charges incurred during the voyage.

6. Cancellation by You You may cancel your contract subject to notice to us in writing and payment to us of a cancellation fee in accordance with the following scales: More than 90 days prior to departure - 10% of full holiday price plus non-refundable items 90 to 60 days - 25% of full holiday price plus non-refundable items 59 to 30 days - 50% of full holiday price plus non-refundable items 29 to 0 days - 100% of full holiday price plus non-refundable items We strongly recommend you take out suitable insurance to cover you for possible eventualities that would require you to cancel your holiday. Holiday insurance premiums are not refundable in the event of cancellation.

7. Changes by You If, after our confirmation invoice has been issued, you wish to change any part of your booking you must inform us in writing. Whilst we will do our best to assist, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet your requested change. All changes will be subject to a charge of £50 and any further costs we incur in making this alteration. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible. Where we are unable to assist you and you do not wish to proceed with the original booking we will treat this as a cancellation by you and a cancellation fee may be payable. Please note that it is important at the time of booking to advise the names of travellers that match the name given on their passport. Failure to do so will usually result in a name change charge by the airline.

8. Accuracy We endeavour to ensure that all the information and prices both on our website and in our brochures are accurate. However, occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances. You must check the current price and all other details relating to the arrangements that you wish to book before your booking is confirmed.

9. Changes or Cancellation by Us 9.1 As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. If we make a major change to your holiday, we will inform you or your travel agent as soon as reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. You will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, accepting an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. In some cases, we will also pay compensation. These options don’t apply for minor changes. Examples of minor changes include alteration of your outward/return travel by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation to another of the same or higher standard, and changes of carriers. Please note that carriers such as airlines used in the brochure may be subject to change.

9.2 Alteration of the holiday may be made of necessity or because it appears to us or any other party acting as operator responsible for the holiday or part of the holiday desirable for the safety, comfort or enjoyment of passengers or the operational efficiency of the holiday. Where possible and appropriate, we will make reasonable efforts to ensure that any changes are as limited as practical. Such alteration will not amount to material alteration of the holiday contract.

9.3 We will not cancel your travel arrangements less than 90 days before your departure date, except for reasons of force majeure (see 9.5) or failure by you to pay the final balance. We may cancel your holiday before this date if, for example, the minimum number of clients required for a particular travel arrangement is not reached. If your holiday is cancelled you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us, if available (we will refund any price difference if the alternative is of a lower value). In some cases, we will pay compensation.

9.4 We reserve the right in our absolute discretion to terminate without notice the holiday arrangements of any customer whose behaviour is such that it is in our opinion likely to cause distress, damage, danger, or annoyance to our customers, our/supplier employees, or to any third party, or to property. If you are prevented from travelling because, in our or our suppliers’ opinion, you appear to be unfit to travel or likely to cause discomfort or disturbance to others, our responsibility for your holiday ceases and we shall be under no obligation to pay any refund, compensation or costs to you. Please note that we have no control over the behaviour of other persons staying at or visiting your holiday accommodation and we are not responsible for any withdrawal or impairment of facilities or other loss or damage caused by them. Under no circumstances are you entitled to share or sub-let your accommodation with anyone other than those individuals shown on your booking.

9.5 We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of force majeure. For the purposes of these Booking Conditions, force majeure means any unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, civil commotions, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport, interference by authorities, requisitioning of the Vessel, inability to secure or failure of supplies, perils of the sea, collision, foundering of the Vessel, explosion, insurrection and government restraint, or any other cause whatsoever beyond our reasonable control.

10. Health and Security 10.1 You represent and warrant that you are physically and otherwise fit to travel, that you will at all times comply with Vessel’s rules and regulations and orders and directions of the Vessel’s officers and medical staff, and that your conduct will not impair the safety of the Vessel or inconvenience other passengers. The vessel is unable to accommodate women past their sixth month of pregnancy.

10.2 The Master or medical officer of the Vessel, without liability and at any time, may refuse to transport or may land any passenger at any port or place, or transfer the passenger to other means of transportation, because of health or physical condition, mental disorder, failure to abide by Vessel regulations, failure to possess necessary passports, visas and health or vaccination certificates, or other causes rendering the passenger unfit to travel.

10.3 If you are refused passage or leave the Vessel prior to the end of the cruise for any of the reasons described in this section or for other reasons including, but not limited to, personal, medical, or business reasons, we will not be required to refund any portion of the holiday price, or be responsible for any of your costs.

10.4 You hereby consent to a reasonable search being made of your person, baggage or other property upon embarkation and to the removal and confiscation or destruction of any object which may, in the opinion of the Master or security officer of the Vessel, be illegal, impair the safety of the Vessel, or inconvenience other passengers.

10.5 You shall indemnify us for all penalties, fines, charges, losses or expenses incurred or imposed upon us or the Vessel by virtue of any act or violation of law undertaken by you.

10.6 The Vessel is unable to accommodate children under six months of age and we reserve the right to restrict the number of those under three years of age booked aboard the Vessel. Any child under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by an adult over the age of twenty-one. If the adult accompanying this child is not a parent, a “Parental Consent Guardianship Form” must be signed by parent or legal guardian and received by us prior to sailing.

10.7 We are not a specialist disabled holiday company, but we will do our utmost to cater for any special requirements you may have. You are required to advise us in writing, at or prior to the time a holiday is booked, of any physical, emotional or mental condition which may require professional attention during the holiday, including those passengers who are physically challenged and require the use of wheelchairs or other similar facilities. We strongly recommend that passengers using wheelchairs travel with someone who is able to assist them, both on shore and on board the Vessel. Physically challenged passengers must bring and be responsible for all facilities relating to their condition. If any such condition arises after the cruise is booked, you are required to advise us in writing immediately. Failure to advise us as required hereunder shall release us and all personnel on board the Vessel from any liability related to such condition or its treatment.

11. Independent Contractors/Excursions 11.1 You shall have no right to any refund and we shall have no obligation or liability of any kind to you for acts or omissions in connection with or arising out of arrangements with independent contractors outside of your package holiday booked by us. Arrangements with independent contractors include, but are not limited to the following: (i) services or products available for your convenience on board the Vessel and furnished by doctor(s), dentist(s), nurse(s), barber(s), hairdresser(s), manicurist(s), masseur(s), spa operator(s) photographer(s), entertainer(s), instructor(s), shopkeeper(s), lecturer(s) and others; (ii) excursions or tours that you may choose to book or pay for whilst you are on holiday, which

are not part of your package holiday provided by us. For any excursion or other tour that you book, your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with us. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour or for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator.

11.2 The independent contractors shall be entitled to charge for any products sold, services rendered or transportation provided to you directly.

11.3 The Medical Officer, Doctor(s) and/or nurses are on board the Vessel for the treatment of crew members, and may, for the convenience of passengers and at your request, provide medical services to you. We do not undertake to treat or care for you medically, and the doctors and nurses, even if designated officers of the Vessel, are not agents for or employees of us, but rather are independent contractors. We shall not be liable for any aspect of medical treatment provided to you, including, but not limited to the consequences of any examination, advice, diagnosis, medication, treatment, prognosis or other professional services, which such doctors or nurses may furnish you. Any acceptance by us of payment for any such services is done only as a convenience to you and shall not modify the limitations or disclaimer of agency stated herein.

11.4 You hereby consent to treatment by the Vessel’s doctor or other medical personnel, if any, or by a physician designated by us, if subsequent to embarkation you are unable to request or authorize such treatment and in the opinion of the Vessel’s doctor, you need medical attention.

11.5 You may be charged for medical services and for medications and supplies used for medical treatment.

12. Liability 12.1 Our liability or that any other party acting as operator or otherwise involved in the supply of services under this contract may be limited by international conventions including those relating to carriage by sea, including the Athens Convention 1974, carriage by air, including the Warsaw Convention 1929 or the Montreal Convention 1999 and hotel stays, including the Paris Convention 1962, and in the case of all such conventions, and applicable Protocols or amendments.

Where these or any other conventions apply to any service or accommodation supplied during any part of the holiday, no matter by whom the service or accommodation supplied is directly performed, the limits of liability afforded by such conventions apply to us and any other party acting as operator or otherwise involved in the supply of services during the holiday.

12.2 Save as provided otherwise in these terms and conditions and subject to the provisions relating to liability, including limits in these terms and conditions, all arrangements for the provision of transport of passengers, their baggage and personal property, accommodation and other services are in addition to these terms and conditions subject to the terms and conditions of airlines and the owner or operator of the Vessel and all other service providers such as transfer operators, hotels etc.

12.3 Unless otherwise provided for by force of law or in accordance with these terms and conditions, our liabilities, duties, obligations and responsibilities or those of any other party acting as operator or otherwise involved in the supply of services under this contract shall be limited in accordance with the limits applicable to a carrier under the Athens Convention 1974 (Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Sea), as modified and set out in parts I and II of Schedule 6 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 (‘the Convention”).

12.4 Our liability or that of any other party acting as operator or otherwise involved in the supply of services under this contract, for death or illness of, or personal injury to, any passenger, or the loss of or damage to the luggage of any passenger is limited to the maximum amount specified in Articles 7 and 8 of the Convention save in the case of valuables (as defined in Article 5 of the Convention) where no liability is accepted unless such valuables have been deposited with the carrier for the agreed purpose of safekeeping in which case liability will be limited to the limit provided for in Article 8(3) of the Convention.

12.5 No responsibility is accepted for loss or damage caused to passengers by failure to perform the contract or improper performance of the contract where the failure or improper performance happens without fault on our part or that of any other party acting as operator or otherwise involved in the supply of services under this contract because: (i) it is attributable to fault on the part of the passenger; or (ii) it is unforeseeable and unavoidable and attributable to a third party who does not supply services included in the holiday; or (iii) it is due to unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided by the exercise of due care, or an event which we or anyone who supplies services included in the holiday booked could not foresee or forestall including but not limited to circumstances related to unusual weather or sea conditions.

12.6 No liability is accepted in respect of arrangements or commitments made by or on behalf of you that are not part of the holiday contract.

12.7 If any term, condition, section or provision becomes invalid or be so judged, the remaining terms, conditions, sections and provisions shall be deemed severable and shall remain in force.

12.8 In the event that we have any legal liability for any loss of or damage to property otherwise than in accordance with the Convention and any other applicable conventions including the Montreal conventions then its liability shall not at any time exceed £250 per passenger and we shall not at any time be liable for loss of or to any money, jewellery, valuables or medication.

Passengers are advised not to pack money, jewellery, other valuables or medication in their luggage and must ensure that their personal possessions and valuables are with them at all times.

12.9 All carriage (by land, air and sea) is subject to the conditions of carriage of the actual operator / carrier. These may limit or exclude liability. Save as otherwise provided in these Conditions, the carriers’ conditions of carriage are expressly incorporated into the Contract and are deemed to be expressly accepted by you at the time of the Booking. Copies of these Conditions are available on request from us.

12.10 Our liability will not at any time exceed that of any carrier under the carrier’s conditions of carriage and/or applicable or incorporated conventions.

13. Complaints/Claims If you have a problem during your holiday, please inform the relevant supplier (e.g. your hotelier, vessel officer) immediately who will endeavour to put things right. If your complaint is not resolved locally, please follow this up within 28 days of your return home by writing to us at our address (see clause 1.1), giving your booking reference and all other relevant information.

Please keep your letter concise and to the point. It is strongly recommended that you communicate any complaint to the supplier of the services without delay and complete a report form whilst on holiday. If you fail to follow this simple procedure, we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint whilst you were on holiday and this may affect your rights under this contract. Please also see clause 4 on ABTA. 14. Flights 14.1 This publication is the sole responsibility of FOT. It is not made on behalf of, and does not commit any airline mentioned or any other airline whose services are used during the course of the holiday. Notwithstanding this any rules, regulations, terms and conditions published by any such airline will apply and may limit the airline’s liability to you in certain circumstances.

14.2 We shall provide details of the relevant airline routing and any intermediate stops as soon as possible, but any changes to the actual airline or routing are considered to be a minor change and if this happens, you will not be entitled to cancel without penalty nor will compensation be paid.

15. Travel Insurance We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking if you do not have personal travel insurance.

We will treat any cancellation for this reason as a cancellation by you and the cancellation charges will be payable as set out above. Please read your policy details carefully and take them with you on holiday.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the insurance you purchase is adequate and appropriate for your particular needs, and covers all travel, cancellation, medical and repatriation liabilities for the holiday. We reserve the right to request full details of your insurance policy, however please note that we do not check insurance policies for suitability. You are responsible for indemnifying us in full in the event that we incur any losses or expenses arising out of your failure to take out adequate insurance cover.

16. Acting as Agent Where we act only as agent for World Wide Cruises Inc., we will pass on a confirmation invoice on their behalf with the holiday price converted to Sterling, which you should check to ensure accuracy.

In these situations, our liability is limited to situations of proven negligence on our part, and any other claims must be sent direct to World Wide Cruises Inc. with whom you shall be in contract. In these circumstances, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on our behalf at all times.

17. Data Personal details will be held and processed by us to enable fulfilment of the holiday contract.

You hereby agree to this information being passed to any third parties in order for the supply of the holiday. Personal details supplied to us may also be used for marketing purposes.

Marketing communications from us will allow you the opportunity to opt out of further marketing communications. We will not disclose personal details to third parties for marketing purposes without express permission.
