LIFE ON BOARD OUR NEW SISTER SHIPS Our ships are smaller. But they are spacious throughout with all-balcony cabins and generously-sized lounges, bars and a full wraparound deck.

THE BRITANNIA LOUNGE

Found on both our ships, the main lounge is a large, double-height venue, with stunning panoramic windows offering views all around. Order drinks from the lounge bar and enjoy a range of activities during the day, while in the evenings take your seat for entertainment from singers and bands.

For total relaxation, you can head to the ship’s serene spa and beauty salon. Here you can enjoy a dip in the hydrotherapy pool, relax in the infrared sauna or steam room, or enjoy an array of indulgent treatments from massages to manicures.

THE PLAYHOUSE THEATRE Both Spirit of Adventure and Spirit of Discovery have their very own theatre at sea. The Playhouse offers plush seating for 444 guests, and showcases colourful performances every evening, along with cinema screenings, live music and even matinee shows on sea days.

MORE ENTERTAINMENT AROUND THE SHIP The theatre and lounge are just two of the ships’ entertainment spaces. Day and night, you will be spoilt for choice, with a full line up of talks, crafts and activities. It’s also the place for fish and chips, ice cream and drinks from the bar, all waiter served while enjoying a taste of the British seaside.

THE FITNESS CENTRE The Fitness Centre has a range of hi-tech equipment, and a fitness expert is also on hand to help you get the best workout. Along with the gym, there is also a digital golf simulator, and more traditional deck games.

AFTERNOON TEA Indulging in afternoon tea is another fine cruising tradition that we take very seriously. Every afternoon you are aboard the ship, you are invited to join us in the main Dining Room to enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, pastries and cakes. All are freshly made by our expert chefs.

Enjoy fine cuisine in the main Dining Room or Grill, or for dinner, reserve a table at one of your ship’s speciality restaurants completely free of charge.

THE DINING ROOM Enjoy British and International dishes in The Dining Room, our ships’ main restaurant. They serve a variety of culinary choices at every mealtime, finely cooked by our team of chefs. Here, open seating is standard, so you can arrive, take your seat, and dine whenever you like. Or book a ‘fixed’ table if you’d like the same one for the duration of your cruise. The menu changes every day, and a choice of complimentary house wines are available at lunch and dinner, along with your other all-inclusive drinks.

THE GRILL For a fresh alternative, head to The Grill. This light and airy restaurant gives you the option of a more relaxed dining experience. It offers even more culinary options, from an irresistible buffet at breakfast to a bespoke lunchtime menu, while it reflects the main Dining Room menu at dinner.

Just outside this restaurant is the Verandah. Here you can enjoy dine alfresco with stunning ocean views. When the weather’s fine, it’s also the place to enjoy barbecues.

KHUKURI HOUSE, A NEW TASTE OF THE EAST Spirit of Adventure introduced a world first: a Nepalese restaurant on the ocean wave. Expect fresh flavours that are light and beautifully spiced.

Genuine tandoor ovens mean our chefs can create curried meat, fish and vegetable dishes along with authentic Nepalese flatbreads. Saga’s hometown of Folkestone has strong links with the local Gurkha community, and Khukuri House is an ode to this history and heritage.

AMALFI, HIGH-END ITALIAN CUISINE Spirit of Adventure’s second speciality restaurant offers Italian-style fine dining. Look forward to a mouthwatering menu of Mediterranean dishes, with an emphasis on Tuscan preparation. This includes ‘family-style’ sharing platters of antipasti along with pasta, risotto, parmigiana and arancini. Plus, a daily specials board to give an Amalfi twist to locally sourced fish and meats purchased in port that day.

COAST TO COAST, OUR FIRST EVER SEAFOOD RESTAURANT Spirit of Discovery has a seafood restaurant, showcasing modern seafood cuisine: the best of British and locally-sourced fish and shellfish. Dishes are seasonal, and change according to what’s fresh in the destination you are visiting. Choose from the signature seafood platter to share, along with a range of sauces and accompaniments.

EAST TO WEST, SPICED-UP DINING In Spirit of Discovery’s other speciality restaurant, your taste buds will be tantalised by the flavours of the Orient. But East to West is so much more.

From sizzling Szechuan beef to five-spiced duck with black truffle, the menu offers a world of fine dining each evening, impeccably presented. No more than 73 other diners guarantees an intimate, boutique experience every time you visit.

THE SUPPER CLUBS Offering more choice, our ships also have an elegant steakhouse restaurant and music club. Depart 1700. The sprawling city of Lisbon is spread across seven hills. It boasts two UNESCO-listed sites: Jeronimos Monastery, where Vasco da Gama is entombed and Bélem Tower, built in his honour. An included sightseeing excursion is a great way to see some of the highlights.

Day 6. Arrecife, Lanzarote. Arrive 1000.

Depart 1900. Named in Spanish after the reef that edges its shoreline, peaceful Arrecife has been the island’s capital since it took the title from nearby Teguise in 1852. This relatively sleepy port’s origins can be seen in the whitewashed fishermen cottages and 17th-century church set around the coastal lagoon of El Charco de San Gines. Explore your surroundings during an included sightseeing excursion.

From Arrecife, you can discover the lava fields of Timanfaya National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Day 7. Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.

Arrive 0800. Depart 1700. Nearly half of Gran Canaria has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

The island is ringed with beautiful coves and sandy beaches to the south and wild mountains to the north. The subtropical capital of Las Palmas is set beside two broad bays and features cafe-lined squares and shady courtyards. The oldest sights can be discovered in a trio of historic neighbourhoods: San Antonio, Triana and Vegueta.

Day 8. Santa Cruz, Tenerife. Arrive 0800.

Depart 1700. Tenerife is crowned by the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Teide. Its capital Santa Cruz has a mix of old and new sights, from the central square of Plaza de Espana, which was built in 1929 to the auditorium, an expressionist structure that resembles a wave. Enjoy an included sightseeing excursion, taking in the highlights of Tenerife’s lively capital Santa Cruz.

Day 9. Santa Cruz, La Palma.

Arrive 0800. Depart 1600. La Palma is the greenest of the Canaries and large tracts of its laurel forests have been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Explore the capital of Santa Cruz which is set in a sweeping natural amphitheatre and was a hub for New World explorers and merchant traders during the Age of Exploration. Its history is reflected in the 16th-century Castilian architecture and the old quarter with its wooden balconies and cobbled lanes is set around the Renaissance Plaza Espana.

Day 10. Funchal, Madeira. Arrive 0900.

Depart 1700. Madeira is a verdant, mountainous island formed from a volcanic eruption and known for its namesake wine.

Often described as the ‘floating garden in the Atlantic’, the island is home to the world’s largest laurel forest and Botanical Gardens where exotic indigenous plants grow. An included sightseeing excursion offers a relaxing way to see some of the attractions.

BOOKING YOUR CRUISE Age qualification: Saga cruises are for anyone aged 50 and over.

A travelling companion or family member travelling with you may be aged 40 or over.

How our discounts work: On all our cruises we set aside a number of cabins within each grade at a discounted fare, with the highest discount of 35% available on selected grades. These cabins are sold on a first come, first served basis. As cabins are sold, the discount begins to reduce, and continues to reduce, until those selected cabins are sold. This means that the earlier you book, the higher the chance of securing a greater discount. Our price panels clearly show the full cruise price, along with the discounted fare applicable at the time of going to print. Please note that during peak booking periods discounts can reduce quickly. Please call us or visit our website for the most up-to-date prices.

Pricing: We do not impose surcharges. Once booked, the cost of your cruise package cannot be increased unless you amend your booking. We reserve the right not to be legally bound in the case of incorrect pricing and acknowledgement of such an error does not mean acceptance of it.

Cruise Price Promise: Should we ever reduce our prices or introduce a new special offer after you book, we will calculate the price difference and pass the value of any possible saving back to you (optional ad-hoc services are excluded). This applies as long as the discounted cruise is exactly the same package offered under exactly the same terms of sale (which means the full terms that apply to your holiday contract, including your cabin grade and whether your cabin is allocated at the time of booking or at embarkation). In calculating any possible saving due, we’ll take into consideration all offers and discounts that were applied at the time of booking and compare the overall price that you’ve been charged with the current price. We will pass on the value of the saving in the form of a higher-grade cabin, on-board credit, or other value-added benefit.

Guarantee Cabins: The traditional way to book a cruise is to reserve your cabin number at the time of booking. However, if you’ve decided what type of cabin you want, but don’t have a preference for a particular cabin or bed configuration, then our Standard Balcony/ Single Standard Balcony Guarantees could be for you. You are guaranteed the minimum grade cabin in the category shown, just not the specific cabin. This will be allocated to you later on, sometimes as you embark the ship. If you choose not to accept your allocated cabin, which could be located anywhere on the ship, this will be treated as a cancellation by you and cancellation charges will be payable in accordance with our booking conditions. There is the chance you may be upgraded, although this is subject to cabin availability and in no way forms part of this offer.

Insufficient bookings: If we need to cancel your cruise due to insufficient support we would do so before the balance due date.

Optional ad-hoc services: We provide you with the option to specifically request extras which are in addition to, or adaptations of, our standard packages. Prices for optional ad-hoc services such as extensions, extra accommodation, upgrades, additional flights that are not part of a standard Saga allocation and domestic flights (‘ad-hoc service’) can vary depending on when you book. Please note that adding an ad-hoc service may result in additional non-refundable charges to our standard packages due to changes in flight dates, changes to our standard allocated accommodation periods and additional costs passed to us from third party suppliers. They may also result in an additional or higher non-refundable deposit being payable. You will be notified of the total price of your holiday and any increase to your deposit prior to booking.

PAYING FOR YOUR CRUISE Deposits: When you make your booking, you must a deposit of £200 per person or 15% of the cruise cost, whichever is the greater, up to a maximum of £1,000 per person; Certain cruises may require an additional or higher non-refundable deposit or full payment. You will be advised if this is the case at the time of booking.

Balance: The balance of the price of your travel arrangements must be paid at least 90 days before departure. Unless you are otherwise advised, bookings made after the balance due date (as set out above) must be paid in full at the time of booking and we cannot confirm your booking until full payment is received. Payments can be made by credit card, debit card or cheque. If the deposit and/ or balance is not paid in time, we reserve the right to cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time, we shall retain your deposit to cover costs incurred.

We also require you to inform us of any recent close contact you or any member of your party may have had with someone suspected of or known to have a viral or bacterial illness including, without limitation, COVID-19. Refusal to complete our questionnaire or comply with our health screening requirements may result in you being denied boarding. If you are denied boarding in any of these circumstances, this will be treated as a cancellation by you and cancellation charges may apply.

Further, to avoid the spread of any viral or bacterial illness on board including, without limitation, COVID-19, we may deny boarding to any passenger who displays symptoms of any such illness or who in our reasonable opinion may be at risk of having contracted any such illness. If you are denied boarding in these circumstances, you will not be entitled to a refund but you may amend your cruise to a different date.

COVID-19 vaccinations: It is a mandatory requirement for embarkation on our ships that all passengers must have been vaccinated against COVID-19 using a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the UK’s Medical and Healthcare Regulatory Authority. You will be required to provide evidence to our reasonable satisfaction that you have received the full course of such vaccination not less than 14 days prior to departure. Mobility and assistance: Our cruise ships have a limited number of cabins adapted for use by those with restricted mobility and are limited as to the number of disabled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility that they can carry. We reserve the right to refuse the carriage of any person if carrying such a passenger would breach applicable safety requirements or law. We also reserve the right to refuse carriage if the design of the vessel and/ or the port infrastructure and equipment would make carriage unsafe or not operationally feasible. We reserve the right to require that a disabled passenger or a passenger of reduced mobility is accompanied by another fare paying person capable of providing assistance to ensure compliance with any applicable safety requirement or law or if the design of the vessel and/or the port infrastructure and equipment means that a disabled passenger or person of reduced mobility cannot be carried in a safe or operationally feasible manner without the assistance of another person. Please advise us at the time of booking if you or any member of your party has reduced mobility, require a specially adapted cabin or would require assistance in an emergency, or as soon as possible before departure should there be a change in circumstances. Food allergies or specific dietary requirements on board the ship: If you’ve got any food allergies or specific dietary requirements, it is important that you advise us at the time of booking. It is also essential that you make the maître d’ aware of your allergies or dietary requirements after arriving on board and ask for information about ingredients before eating. Cruise guests are also reminded that any required medications should be kept with them at all times.

ON BOARD Health and Safety procedures: We have developed stringent procedures for dealing with viral or bacterial illnesses in relation to our cruises. These procedures may mean that some facilities and services may not be available during the cruise package. The procedures may also change at short notice depending on the circumstances and latest advice and guidance available in respect of the particular illness. Any procedures introduced to prevent or limit the spread of viral or bacterial illnesses will not be a significant change to your cruise package. You are required to follow our instructions or those of the Master or the ship’s crew in respect of any procedures designed to prevent or limit the spread of viral or bacterial illnesses. This may include the mandatory wearing of face masks in all public areas. If you fail to comply with our procedures or our instructions or those of the ship’s Master or crew or your health or conduct is likely to endanger the health and safety of other passengers or crew, we and/or the ship’s master reserve the right to take reasonable and appropriate action which could include the curtailment of your cruise package. In such circumstances,

no compensation or refund will be payable and, in the event of curtailment, you will be liable to pay any additional expenses reasonably incurred in arranging the curtailment.

Love it first time guarantee: Available to guests that have not previously cruised with Saga Cruises on an ocean cruise. We guarantee you will love your first cruise, or will refund your fare.

To take advantage of the guarantee you must state your intention on board to the Hotel General Manager during the first 72 hours of your cruise at the latest (for cruises seven nights or over; during the first 48 hours for cruises under seven nights). They will endeavour to resolve any issues; if a solution cannot be agreed, we will cover costs for your return transport home at the next available port, and refund the fare that you have paid for your cruise (we will not refund any costs you have incurred for items not purchased directly through Saga, such as overnight accommodation or third-party insurance). The guarantee does not affect our pre-departure cancellation policy. Further terms and conditions may apply.

DATA PROTECTION Any personal data you provide will be held securely and for the purpose you have provided it, in accordance with data protection legislation. We may need to disclose personal data to a third party including outside the European Economic Area (EEA) for the purpose of providing your holiday. In addition, your data may be disclosed to regulatory bodies or public authorities, such as customs or immigration, for the purposes of monitoring and/or enforcing compliance with any regulatory rules/codes; and it may be used for marketing, offering renewals, research and statistical purposes and crime prevention. Where you provide information about another person, we accept it on the basis that you have their permission to give us access to their personal data (including special category personal data) and that you have told them who we are and what we will use their data for, as set out above. If Saga has obtained your permission to do so, they will also contact you by post, telephone, email or other means to tell you about offers, products and services that may be of interest to you. At any time you can opt out of receiving such information, revise the products you would like to hear about or change the method they use to communicate with you. INSURANCE You must be adequately insured for all cruises to cover all contingencies such as medical expenses, repatriation, and baggage cover. We offer optional comprehensive travel insurance with all our cruises. If you do not purchase the optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights, or if we’re unable to offer the optional cover, we advise that you arrange adequate insurance cover as soon as possible

Please be aware this policy will only provide cover for any claims caused by or relating to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), or any mutation of, under the ‘Emergency medical associated expenses’ section of our policy book. This section provides insurance for emergency medical and associated costs not covered by the National Health Service or any reciprocal health agreement. For sections 1(a), 2, 5(a), 6 and 10(a) above, the first £70 of each and every claim is excluded. Please note that the optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights are only available for overseas holidays where the included cruise, flights or ferry elements of the holiday are taken. If you arrange your own travel abroad, you will not be covered and should make alternative arrangements. If you feel you need increased baggage cover please check your home contents insurance policy first, as most people can have their personal possessions insured under this policy while they are away. If you are suffering from, or in the last 12 months have suffered from, an illness that has required treatment from a doctor, you must advise us and we’ll confirm whether you can be covered under this insurance. Insurance policy document If you choose to take the insurance, we will send you the insurance policy document with your holiday confirmation/invoice, or you can call us to request it earlier. If the policy does not meet your requirements, you are entitled to cancel at any time prior to your date of departure. The policy document contains full details of the cover provided, our complaints procedure, terms and exclusions.

We recommend that you read it carefully.

Bookings made 18 months or more before departure: This section only applies to cruises offered with optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights. Our optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights cannot be offered with cruises booked more than 18 months before departure. Customers who wish to include the optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights will have their booking held until 18 months before the departure date. Should you need to cancel prior to your booking being confirmed, a full refund will be available. Once within 18 months of departure, the optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights can be added and the cruise confirmed. This is subject to the normal insurance policy conditions and Saga’s booking conditions.

Additional cancellation cover: Where you have chosen to include the optional travel insurance you benefit from additional cancellation cover which allow you to cancel your cruise under a range of different circumstances and receive a full refund of all the money you have paid to us, less an administration of £80 per person. Saga optional travel insurance: For UK residents only, insurance, underwritten by Astrenska Insurance Limited, is offered with all our ocean cruises unless otherwise stated and subject to terms and conditions.
