Prep Planters Now for Extra 6 bu/a in 2013 How would you like an extra 6 bushels per acre this year? By using winter free time to adjust your planter, you could do just that. We found an article on DakotaFarmer.com with some help from Legend Seeds out of DeSmet, South Dakota that shows you the adjustments to make to boost your yields. From the article: A recent survey showed that farmers who calibrate planter units annually produce an extra 6 bushels per acre of corn, he says. While the professionals work on your planter units, there are some do-it-yourself things you can do to the rest of the planter to get it ready for spring. They are: 1) Measure the disc openers. Worn disc openers are the biggest culprit of yield loss each year. If there is more than a half inch of wear, consider changing them out. Worn disc openers won’t properly cut crop residue, nor will they create a proper “V” in the seed trench; resulting in un-uniform emergence.
2) Align closing wheels. The easiest way to test closing wheel alignment is to lay the planter on concrete and pull ahead 6 to 8 feet. Look at the disc opener mark on the concrete and make sure the closing wheels line up on the right and left of the mark. If they don’t, then they need to be realigned. 3) Upgrade to a spoke closing wheel. If you’ve been running a traditional, rubber closing wheel I suggest upgrading to a spoke closing wheel. Spoke closing wheels alleviate sidewall compaction, allow the soil to warm more quickly and permit more oxygen to reach the seed. All these factors lead to better root and plant development. Almond Chicken Hotdish Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes Ingredients 3 C cubed chicken or
1 can (4 oz) mushrooms,
1 can crescent rolls
turkey (cooked)
drained
2/3 C shredded Swiss or
1 can (8 oz) water
1 can cream of chicken
cheddar cheese
chestnuts, sliced
soup
4 T melted butter
½ C chopped celery
½ C sour cream
½ C slivered almonds
½ C onion, chopped
2/3 C mayonnaise
Directions Heat meat, water chestnuts, celery, onion, mushrooms, soup, sour cream and mayonnaise until hot and bubbly. Pour in 9×13” pan. Top with crescent rolls to cover. Sprinkle with cheese, melted butter and almonds. Bake at 350°F for 25 min. Let set 10 min before serving.

Meet Your Saleswoman: Michelle Powers – Moorhead, MN Hi my name is Michelle Powers; you could say the Heavy Equipment Industry is in my blood. My family owned and operated a Heavy Equipment dealership for over 60 years. The industry focus of the heavy equipment was in road and highway; mining and public works. It was a natural progression when I entered the agricultural industry when I joined Titan Machinery and the Titan Outlet Store in 2009. I have enjoyed learning from my customers the intricacies of the agricultural industry. The most eye opening fact I have learned are the many facets a farmer must know including agronomics, diesel mechanic, commodity markets, federal and local laws affecting faming, Human Resource, and GPS technology. I benefit the customers by education and training on my behalf, delivering a value added service to the customers I serve. When I am not selling agricultural equipment and completing my Masters’ in Strategic Leadership I enjoy golfing, knitting and spending time with family and friends.

ANSWER: Titan Machinery and CNH are offering the powertrain protection plan to purchasers of used equipment purchased from Titan Machinery network dealerships. QUESTION: What qualifies for this protection under the Titan Advantage Plan? ANSWER: Units that are 7 Model Years Old or less and have less than 5,000 Engine Hours at the time of enrollment. QUESTION: What types of equipment are eligible for the Plan? ANSWER: Currently the plan includes Combines, Tractors, Sprayers and Floaters, Forage Harvesters, Bale Wagons and Windrowers that meet the above qualification. QUESTION: What Equipment Brands Qualify for the Plan? ANSWER: All CNH Brands as well as John Deere, Cat, and Agco Products. QUESTION: How long is my equipment purchase covered under the Advantage Protection Plan? ANSWER: Qualifying equipment is covered for Twelve Months or 500 Hours of use, whichever event occurs first. QUESTION: What is my cost for the Titan Advantage Powertrain Protection Plan?
