Tier-IV Engine Technology and Case Loaders The rollout of Tier-IV engines into the construction market has made the Case F-Series wheel loaders an even more compelling purchase for operators that are looking to get the best of both power and fuel economy out of their loaders. Utilizing Selective Catalytic Reduction to control emissions allows Case Tier-IV HQJLQHV WR RSHUDWH IRU SHDN SRZHU DQG HIÂżFLHQF\ OHDGLQJ WR EHWWHU UHVSRQVH DQG VLJQLÂżFDQWO\ ORZHULQJ fuel consumption versus competitive machines which use CEGR technology to meet emission regulations.

Sam Berman & Sons began as a scrap recycling business in Grinnell, IA in 1923

by Sam Berman who had emigrated from Russia two years earlier. Today Rich Berman, grandson of Sam is the daily operations supervisor of the 3rd generation business. At 89 years old Rich’s dad Isadore is still active in the business which employees eight people, two cats and one dog.

“I take a lot of pride that this business is in its 3rd generation,” said Rich. “When my grandfather emigrated to the US from Russia in 1921 he built this business from the ground up. My father has dedicated his life to growing the family business and is still active today in the business at 89 years old. I feel honored to carry on the tradition that started over 90 years ago.”

The yard processes over 20,000 tons of ferrous scrap material per year. The scrap comes from various local manufacturing facilities that weld, shape, laser and punch-press materials. “We’re proud to have established long-term partnerships with local and regional manufacturing facilities,” said Rich. “Most of the suppliers of our raw materials have been customers of Berman’s for many years and it’s a testament to our philosophy of treating our customers as partners.
