Bethany Retirement Living's Transitional Care Unit

Bethany Retirement Living’s Transitional Care Unit (TCU) located at Bethany on University offers a lifeline for older adults who are looking to regain function following acute illnesses or surgeries. With a 30-bed TCU offering 24/7 skilled nursing care and skilled therapies seven days a week, this facility aims to help individuals transition back to their homes with the support they need. The concept of transitional care has evolved over time in response to the changing needs of the aging population, and Bethany continues to evolve it services based on the needs of the community.

Historically, the idea of transitional care emerged as a response to the challenges faced by older adults who were discharged from hospitals without adequate support. These individuals often struggled to regain their independence and faced a higher risk of readmission. In the 1980s, transitional care programs began to gain traction as healthcare providers recognized the importance of providing comprehensive services to bridge the gap between hospital and home. Bethany Retirement Living’s TCU is a modern embodiment of this concept, offering a holistic approach to rehabilitation, recovery and discharge planning.

Key team members within the Bethany TCU include skilled therapists, nursing staff, a primary care provider team and support staff who work tirelessly to support older adults on their journey to recovery and return to prior setting, may it be at home, in the community or in a new care setting. These individuals play a crucial role in providing personalized care and support to help residents regain their independence. Their dedication and expertise have a significant impact on the lives of those they care for, helping them to achieve their goals and return home safely.

From a positive perspective, Bethany’s TCU provides older adults with the support

they need to regain their independence and return home. The facility offers a range of services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, skilled nursing care, dietary services, and social services to help residents rebuild their strength and functional abilities, as well as find a good support system for after their discharge. By working closely with each individual to create personalized care plans, the team at Bethany Retirement Living’s transitional care unit empowers residents to take control of their health and well-being.

Often, a reason people may hesitate to consider a transitional care stay is due to the stigma associated with long-term care skilled nursing facilities or “Nursing Homes.” Bethany changes such an image by striving to provide the best care experience for residents and families. The same applies for the TCU. Patients can expect that this experience is aimed toward being shortcourse, and to mimic more of a hospital/ post-acute setting. Clients in the TCU are referred to as patients rather than residents because the typical stay of a patient would be approximately 14 days before discharging back home and the approach of care is designed to be more acute with staffing levels to match the need.

For some older adults, the transition from hospital to home can be overwhelming, and they may struggle to adjust due to recent illness and/or surgeries. Placement in the TCU starts at the hospital with the case management teams working hand-inhand with our team at Bethany to ensure appropriateness of placement.

Looking to the future, the field of transitional care is poised for continued growth and development. As the aging population continues to expand, the demand for specialized care services will only increase. By embracing new approaches and technologies, facilities like Bethany’s TCU can continue to empower older adults to regain their independence and live full, healthy lives.

4 tips for meeting your soulmate after 50

Are you looking for affection and companionship, even though you’re over 50? Don't worry! It's not too late to find love. Try these four tips to feel the pleasant sensation of a racing heart and butterflies in your stomach once again in your stomach.

1. EXPAND YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK. Increase your chances of meeting singles by participating in activities outside your usual social circle. Is the weather not on your side? Do you prefer meeting people from the comfort of your own home? Sign up on a dating site or download an app with a good reputation.

2. BE OPEN. Let dating opportunities present themselves to you. Say yes to new things and try to leave your comfort zone. The right person could cross your path!

3. BE CONFIDENT IN YOURSELF. Accept yourself as you are, gray hair and all. Take care of your health and appearance, especially if you've developed the bad habit of neglecting yourself. Selfconfidence is sexy!

4. TAKE YOUR TIME. Don’t rush into things. Get to know each new person who interests you. Your relationship shouldn't be forced or make you feel uncomfortable. It should be enjoyable. Take the time to see how things develop.

If you're interested in in-person dating, look for travel agencies for singles aged 50 and over, leisure clubs, or local age-appropriate parties.

5 Mother's Day activity ideas

Mothers are courageous, strong and inspiring! Of course, they deserve to be thanked. Here are a handful of original Mother’s Day activity ideas.

1. FAMILY PHOTO SESSION

Give your mom the gift that keeps on giving, and split the cost among your family members. Those who never know what to gift mom will be relieved. Plus, your mother will have new and precious memories to share.

2. AFTERNOON TEA

If all the restaurants in your area are booked for brunch, try an English-style experience that’s just as tasty! Several establishments offer packages combining exceptional teas and sophisticated bites in a relaxed atmosphere.

3. GAME NIGHT

Is your mom more of a party girl? Try playing The Crumpled Paper Ball Game with her. Gather your family, put out a bowl of chips and do your best Céline Dion impression. You can easily find the rules online.

4. OUTDOOR DAY

Sometimes, the simplest activities are the most fun. Why not take a bike ride along the water, enjoy a picnic lunch or visit a local park? Being in the present moment with your mom is a great gift.

5. WINE TASTING

Many artisans offer wine tastings and workshops in their picturesque wineries and fields. Look up wineries in your area and make a reservation.

You’ll find the perfect activity for your mom, no matter your budget. One last tip: focus on her interests. It can’t hurt to give her a call!

5 simple low-vision accommodations you can make in your living space

Are you dealing with low vision?

It’s not uncommon for your eyes to weaken as you age, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some simple adjustments to improve your living space. Here are five low-vision accommodations that can make a big difference:

1. BRIGHTEN THINGS UP.

Add table and floor lamps in areas of your living space which may be dim or shadowy, such as entries and stairways.

2. CONTROL GLARE.

Use window blinds and drapes to control glare and hang mirrors in areas that won’t produce a reflection.

3. USE CONTRAST.

Contrasting colors can help you distinguish between different objects and surfaces in your living space. For example, placing light-colored objects against dark

backgrounds, and vice versa, can make them stand out more. You can also use paint in a contrasting color to mark electrical outlets, oven dials and other items for easy identification.

4. SECURE FLOORING.

Replace old, worn or wrinkled carpeting and rugs that could cause tripping. Use nonskid, non-glare cleaners on smooth floors to prevent falls.

5. LABEL AND MARK.

Use color-coded labels to distinguish between medicines, spices, foods and other items. You can also use tactile markers, such as raised dots or lines, to differentiate between items.

These modifications can be done gradually over time and are often simple and inexpensive. Don’t let low vision stop you from living your best life.

Bonding with nature & dad: 5 outdoor activities for Father's Day

Father’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the bond between dads and their children. What better way to do this than by enjoying some outdoor adventures together? Here are five activities perfect for making lasting memories:

1. FISHING EXPEDITION.

Head to a nearby lake, river or fishing spot. Whether casting lines from the shore or renting a boat, fishing offers quality conversation and bonding while waiting for the big catch.

2. HIKING ADVENTURE.

Choose a trail in a nearby park or nature reserve suitable for all ages and skill levels. Pack some snacks and enjoy stunning views, wildlife encounters and shared experiences.

3. PICNIC IN THE PARK.

Pack a lunch and spend the day lounging in a local park or garden. Spread out a blanket or play outdoor games like Frisbee or catch.

4. BIKE EXCURSION.

Whether it’s a leisurely pedal along scenic paths or an adventurous mountain biking excursion, cycling together is a fun and active way to bond while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.

5. CAMPING.

Pitch a tent, build a campfire and spend the night under the stars in your backyard or at a nearby campground. Roast marshmallows, tell stories, stargaze and enjoy the magic of camping together.

Prepare for your Father’s Day adventure by visiting local shops and stores.

Designing a comfortable living space in your retirement home

When moving into a retirement or assisted living home, you don’t have to settle for a sterile, institutional environment. Here are some ways to make your living space more comfortable and truly feel like home.

ACCESSIBILITY AND SAFETY

Prioritizing accessibility is paramount, ensuring that furniture caters to easy movement and daily needs. Consider safety features, such as ample lighting, non-slip flooring and smart technology to enhance overall well-being and peace of mind.

EASY STORAGE

In compact living areas, choose furniture like beds and benches that incorporate storage spaces into the design. Additionally,

ensure closets are efficient and accessible. Use clear, labeled storage containers and baskets to reduce clutter and make belongings easily available.

GET PERSONAL

Music creates a personalized and harmonious living space with its power to evoke memories and uplift spirits. Include an easy-to-use CD player or vinyl record player with a selection of favorite albums. Also, display photos of loved ones and cherished keepsakes to help you reminisce.

Combining these elements will create a room that meets practical needs and enhances the overall quality of life during these golden years.

Pace yourself!

Tips for doing chores without hurting yourself

Whether you’re planning to do a major home cleanup or just want to tick off a few household chores from your to-do list, here are some tips to prevent injuries:

WARM-UP

Before you start, do some light stretching, bending and rotating to help prepare your muscles and joints.

DIVIDE UP YOUR TASKS

Avoid overloading your day by breaking tasks into shorter sessions. This will help maintain your energy levels without unnecessarily tiring your body.

USE THE RIGHT TOOLS

Ergonomic, lightweight tools make cleaning easier. Extendible brooms and vacuums, as

well as appliances with adjustable handles, can help minimize the strain on your joints.

WEAR SUPPORT ACCESSORIES

Knee pads, lumbar belts and protective gloves are essential for certain tasks. Don’t hesitate to use them if you need to.

ADOPT GOOD POSTURE

Poor posture can quickly lead to discomfort and even injury. For example, bend at the knees rather than the waist and keep your back straight to reduce pressure.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

If a task is causing pain, stop immediately and ask for help. Remember that listening to your body is essential to avoid injury.

Visit your doctor if you’re injured.

Strength training isn't just for young people!

Strength training is often considered exclusively for young people with perfect bodies. However, this isn’t the case! There are many benefits to strength training at any age. In fact, older adults need to engage in this type of exercise. Here’s why.

IMPROVE STRENGTH AND BALANCE

Strength training targets vital muscle groups to help improve your strength and balance. These benefits are crucial for preventing falls and maintaining your independence as your body mass decreases with age.

ADAPTABLE TRAINING PROGRAMS

The exercises can be customized to accommodate your physical limitations, fitness level and personal goals. You can easily work at your own pace and within your limits.

PREVENT CHRONIC DISEASES

Strengthening your muscles helps prevent

chronic diseases associated with aging, such as osteoporosis and arthritis. Lifting weights also helps keep your bones and joints healthy.

PSYCHOLOGICAL BENEFITS

Weight training stimulates the release of endorphins, which can help improve your mood, reduce stress and promote mental well-being.

SOCIALIZATION

Strength training can be a great way to socialize and build camaraderie, especially when participating in group classes or sessions with friends.

In short, strength training is an excellent way to improve your overall health at any age. However, it’s always important to consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

Why wait until retirement to make your dreams come true?

Do you dream of traveling, buying a boat, adding a new room to your home to enjoy your favorite hobby or starting your own business? There's no need to wait until you retire to get started. There’s no age limit for making your dreams come true!

First, remember that you’re not the same person today as you’ll be when you retire or in 10 or 20 years. Your tastes, interests, skills and abilities are constantly evolving. You’ll probably have new dreams at those times, so there's no good reason to put your current goals on hold.

PLAN AND GO!

Depending on your plans, you'll probably have to make an appointment with a financial advisor or schedule a discussion with your employer. Keep your goals in focus and consider all the options that can help you achieve them within a timeframe that suits you.

Give yourself the means to make your dreams come true.

A Calamity of Souls

PRODUCT DETAILS

Hardcover | $30.00

April 16, 2024 | 496 Pages

Set in the tumultuous year of 1968 in southern Virginia, a racially-charged murder case sets a duo of white and Black lawyers against a deeply unfair system as they work to defend their wrongfully-accused Black defendants in this courtroom drama from #1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci.

Jack Lee is a white lawyer from Freeman County, Virginia, who has never done anything to push back against racism, until he decides to represent Jerome Washington, a Black man charged with brutally killing an elderly and wealthy white couple. Doubting his decision, Lee fears that his legal skills may not be enough to prevail in a case where the odds are already stacked against both him and his client. And he quickly finds himself out of his depth when he realizes that what is at stake is far greater than the outcome of a murder trial.

Desiree DuBose is a Black lawyer from Chicago who has devoted her life to furthering the causes of justice and equality for everyone. She comes to Freeman County and enters a fractious and unwieldy partnership with Lee in a legal battle against the best prosecutor in the Commonwealth. Yet DuBose is also aware that powerful outside forces are at work to blunt the victories achieved by the Civil Rights era.

Lee and DuBose could not be more dissimilar. On their own, neither one can stop the prosecution’s deliberate march towards a guilty verdict and the electric chair. But together, the pair fight for what once seemed impossible: a chance for a fair trial and true justice.

Over a decade in the writing, A Calamity of Souls breathes richly imagined and detailed life into a bygone era, taking the reader through a world that will seem both foreign and familiar.

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Named a Best Book of the Year by Time, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Kirkus Reviews, Los Angeles Times, NPR, Oprah Daily, Real Simple, and Vogue

A riveting account of women’s lives on the margins of the Vietnam War, from the renowned winner of the National Book Award.

You have no idea what it was like. For us. The women, I mean. The wives.

American women 'American wives'have been mostly minor characters in the literature of the Vietnam War, but in Absolution they take center stage. Tricia is a shy newlywed, married to a rising attorney on loan to navy intelligence. Charlene is a practiced corporate spouse and mother of three, a beauty and a bully. In Saigon in 1963, the two women form a wary alliance as they balance the era’s mandate to be “helpmeets” to their ambitious husbands with their own inchoate impulse to “do good” for the people of Vietnam.

Sixty years later, Charlene’s daughter, spurred by an encounter with an aging Vietnam vet, reaches out to Tricia.

Together, they look back at their time in Saigon, taking wry account of that pivotal year and of Charlene’s altruistic machinations, and discovering how their own lives as women on the periphery 'of politics, of history, of war, of their husbands’ convictions' have been shaped and burdened by the same sort of unintended consequences that followed America’s tragic interference in Southeast Asia.

A virtuosic new novel from Alice McDermott, one of our most observant, most affecting writers, about folly and grace, obligation, sacrifice, and, finally, the quest for absolution in a broken world.

Retired area music teacher John Ness continues to inspire his students decades later

The friendship between Minneapolis musician Kevin Gerdes and his music teacher John Ness can be traced back to elementary school in Barnesville, Minnesota.

“Mr. Ness influenced my life,” Gerdes said. “No matter where I’ve been in my life, my guitar has been with me the entire journey, and I have Mr. Ness to thank for that.”

When Gerdes was a fourth grader, Ness — who taught music and drivers ed — showed him how to play guitar. Gerdes, now 62, and Ness, 88, reunited in March for a jam session at The Linden, part of the Eventide assisted living facility in Moorhead, where Ness resides.

A photo of the reunion was posted to social media, and many chimed in with their own memories of “Mr. Ness.”

“He is THE BEST,” wrote Cindy Larson, an Eventide Facebook follower.

“Been thinking about him a lot lately as I have been incorporating music into my kindergarten sub position. Many great memories of his music classes!” follower Paula Jean shared.

For Gerdes, though, the influence runs much deeper.

“The whole Eventide performance was meant to be a testament to John to show him where this has taken me. The opportunities it has given me,” Gerdes said. “Playing guitar and singing is one of the most satisfying things that I do. I can see how it brings joy into other people’s lives.”

Mr. Ness

Ness began his teaching career in 1957 when he commuted to schools in Barnesville and Comstock, Minn., and taught on average about 400 students a day.

“They could get a little chaotic,” Ness said. “But for the most part, they were very respectful. I enjoyed helping them have breakthroughs in what they were working on.”

He kept up that pace until 1976 when Comstock elementary school closed and consolidated with other rural communities.

Ness’s own musical inspiration started at a young age.

“I don't remember my age but my mother basically played the piano and we're singing, and lo and behold, I was singing at a PTA meeting or something or little things like that. And I always enjoyed music. I was in band and choir in school,” he said.

Enjoying music like Ness did can be the spark to lifelong artistic exploration and a catalyst to better understanding how to navigate professional life, said The Arts Partnership Executive Director Tania Blanich.

“There are many studies touting the benefits of playing music. It encourages creativity, teamwork, communication and critical thinking — all skills that are necessary in the workplace, whether you’re an insurance salesman or an astronaut,” Blanich said.

Ness took his early enjoyment of music and turned it into a career. He studied music in college and earned a degree in vocal music from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1957.

“Music teaches you so much about math, history and language. It’s not just the song. It’s everything with it,” Ness said.

Ness was also a driver's ed instructor, though Gerdes, who moved away from Barnesville before he was old enough to get behind the wheel, remembers the teacher for encouraging his students to pick up an instrument and play.

“In my fourth grade year, he invited eleven of us kids into his office to try out the guitar. He was vivacious and jubilant, and I have no idea how he kept things moving with eleven kids with guitars in his tiny office, but he made it work,” Gerdes said. “I was hooked after that.”

Of the eleven students, Gerdes is the only one who continued to play guitar after the impromptu lesson—a practice that got him

John Ness, a retired educator who taught music and drivers education in Barnesville, Minnesota, plays the song, "Make the World Go Away," at The Linden, part of the Eventide an assisted living facility in Moorhead, on April 23.

through many trials, including years as an active duty National Guard member.

“We moved from Barnesville to Maynerd, Minn., and I kept up with music because of my dad at that point,” Gerdes said. “But I always would go back to that day in Mr. Ness’s office as the day I said ‘yes, this is for me.’ ”

Lifelong inspiration

Later in life, Gerdes deployed to Iraq and eventually retired at the level of brigadier general before pursuing a career in higher education.

“Playing music got my mind off what I was doing in combat,” Gerdes said. “[During my] military years and raising kids, the only thing that kept me going was playing at church. Then I’d get together with uncles, cousins and brothers to do singalongs. Nowadays, I’m also singing ‘Wheels on the Bus’ with my granddaughter.”

Aside from a brief reunion in 2004, Gerdes and Ness didn’t keep in touch much through the years, though the recent event at Eventide, which was organized by Ness’s family, inspired Gerdes to continue showing up for the teacher who changed his life.

“Seeing him with us singing along and having fun with family, you could tell he was enjoying every note,” Gerdes said. “I hope we do it again many times.”

Like Ness, Gerdes is now retired. He spends a lot of free time volunteering his musical talents at church and VFW events, as well as performing the occasional gig at a wine bar or brew pub.

Ness himself hopes to get back to singing, after an illness largely sidelined him since last fall and weakened his voice. He still plays the piano in his apartment at The Linden where he’s lived since August 2023.

Mostly, Ness said he feels grateful for every phase of his life, including the 25 years he directed choir at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead, as well as the decades he spent raising his three children with his first wife, Darla, who died of cancer in 2004.

“It seems like I’ve changed lives many times,” he said. “But music’s always been a part of it.”

Ness married his second wife Connie in 2014. They lived together on a family farm in Wolverton, Minn., until Connie died of cancer in 2022.

Through it all, he’s had music—and students like Gerdes who are grateful for him every day.

“Evidently, the way things have worked out, somebody drew this music path for me,” Ness said. “I think it was probably my calling.”

Even though he retired from teaching in 1993, it’s clear Ness’s legacy of teaching endures. Gerdes is likely just one of thousands of Minnesota kids who grew up appreciating music thanks to “Mr. Ness.”

Gerdes also felt it was important to express gratitude for his childhood mentor because, as Blanich put it, “We don’t always know what kind of impact we’ve had on someone else unless they tell us.”

Why you should eat less salt (and how to do it)

Eating too much salt can harm your health, and this risk increases as you age. Find out why adjusting your diet and reducing your salt intake are essential.

THE HEALTH RISKS OF EXCESSIVE SALT CONSUMPTION

High salt consumption can lead to health problems that become more common as

you age, such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and stroke.

PRACTICAL TIPS FOR REDUCING YOUR SALT CONSUMPTION

One way to reduce salt consumption is to avoid highly processed foods, such as cold cuts, packaged soups and junk food. These foods are often very salty. Instead, try preparing more home-cooked meals and

use herbs and spices to enhance the taste of your dishes. It’s also crucial to learn how to read the nutritional labels of food products. Remember that you shouldn’t eliminate salt from your diet — you just need to consume it in moderation.

Don’t hesitate to make an appointment with a dietitian-nutritionist to help you eat better.

Why it pays for seniors to maintain good credit

The benefits of maintaining good credit include looking more reliable in the eyes of prospective employers and securing lower mortgage interest rates when buying a home. Those rewards can benefit anyone, but they’re especially enticing to young people. But what about seniors? Do individuals stand to benefit significantly from maintaining good credit into their golden years?

According to the credit reporting agency Experian, senior citizens tend to have the best credit scores of any consumer demographic. That could be a byproduct of years of financial discipline, and there are many benefits to maintaining that discipline into retirement.

HOME BUYING AND BORROWING

:

Buying a home is often considered a big financial step forward for young people, but that doesn’t mean aging men and women are completely out of the real estate

market. In its 2020 “State of the Nation’s Housing” report, the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University reported that the share of homeowners age 65 and over with housing debt doubled to 42 percent between 1989 and 2019. In addition, 27 percent of homeowners age 80 and over were carrying mortgage debt in 2019. Maintaining strong credit after retirement can help homeowners who still have mortgage debt get better terms if they choose to refinance their mortgages. Even seniors who have paid off their mortgages can benefit from maintaining good credit if they decide to downsize to a smaller home but cannot afford to simply buy the new home outright.

REWARDS: Retirement is often associated with travel, recreation and leisure. Such pursuits can be more affordable when seniors utilize rewards-based credit cards that help them finance vacations, weekend getaways and other expenses associated

with traveling. Seniors who maintain strong credit ratings into their golden years may have more access to the best travelbased rewards cards than those whose credit scores dip in retirement.

UNFORESEEN EXPENSES: No one knows what’s around the corner, but savvy seniors recognize the importance of planning for the unknown. The COVID-19 pandemic seemingly came out of nowhere, and among its many ripple effects was the sudden job loss experienced by seniors.

The JCHS report found that 21 percent of homeowners age 65 and over had reported loss of employment income related to the pandemic. Unforeseen medical expenses also can compromise seniors financial freedom. Maintaining a strong credit rating into older adulthood can help seniors navigate such financial uncertainty more smoothly. Such a strategy can help seniors secure low-interest loans or credit cards that can help them pay down sudden,

unforeseen expenses without getting into significant debt.

The importance of a strong credit rating is often emphasized to young people. However, a strong credit rating can be equally beneficial for seniors.

Qualities to look for in a post-retirement job

The notion of relaxing on a beach all day in one’s golden years is still a retirement dream for millions of adults across the globe. But many individuals also harbor a desire to keep working after retiring. Whether it’s a volunteering gig or a part-time job retirees are looking for, certain qualities can make an opportunity uniquely suited to a post-retirement job.

· FLEXIBILITY: Retirees may be looking to contribute to their communities or simply earn a little spending money, but they will likely still want the freedom to travel or spend time with their families whenever they choose. So flexibility is something to look for in a post-retirement job. This is what makes consultant work so attractive to retirees. In-person hours may not be required of consultants, who can then offer their input while visiting their grandchildren or traveling the world.

· SOCIALIZATION: Though the ability to work from home can make it easier for retirees to earn some extra money, some seniors aren’t concerned about their finances but want to work so they can get out of the house. In that case, look for a job that offers the opportunity to socialize and meet new people. Socializing as an older adult is a great way to fend off loneliness. In addition, one study published in 2007 in the journal of the American Public Health Association found that social support networks have a positive effect on cognition among older adults. So a post-retirement job that enables retirees to socialize could delay or reduce the severity of age-related cognitive decline.

· ENGAGEMENT: A job seniors find engaging also is more likely to provide the types of benefits seniors are looking for in post-retirement work. For example, researchers at Boston College’s Sloan Center on Aging and Work found that seniors who find a job or volunteering

opportunity truly engaging are more likely to benefit psychologically from those experiences than those whose postretirement work is not engaging. If seniors find themselves simply going through the motions with their post-retirement work, they can look for opportunities that they can be more enthusiastic about.

· PRESSURE-FREE: Regardless of what retirees did for a living prior to calling it a career, chances are they dealt with work-related stress. In fact, the American Stress Institute reports that 83 percent of workers in the United States suffer from work-related stress, while Statistics Canada reports that 62 percent of Canadian workers say work is their main source of stress. After a lifetime of confronting work-related stress, individuals who want to work in retirement should look for pressure-free opportunities. This is an important quality, as the ASI indicates that stress has been linked to increased

rates of heart attack, hypertension and other disorders.

The right post-retirement job may differ from what individuals looked for during their careers. Various qualities can combine to make for a post-retirement gig that benefits seniors in myriad ways.
