Seminars THURSDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER

08.45 – 09.25

“Building an inclusive wellbeing strategy fit for every lifestage” The seminar explores fresh insights from Hussle’s latest whitepaper, looking at the seasonality of fitness, and examines what wellbeing truly means, including the often-overlooked benefits of exercise. They will also discuss generational differences and share practical ways to design a more inclusive wellbeing culture. • • • • •

Pauline Alonso Director of Sales Hussle

09.30 – 10.05

The New Year Effect, where we will cover findings from our most recent whitepaper What does wellbeing mean to you? The hidden benefits of exercise Generational differences Designing an inclusive wellbeing culture

Pauline Alonso is our Corporate Sales Director at Hussle. She works closely with HR teams and business leaders to make workplace wellbeing simple and accessible. With experience across organisations of all sizes, and a background shaped by living in France, Germany, and the UK, Pauline brings a global, people-first approach to helping partners build healthier, more engaged teams. Staying active is a big part of her life, from gym training and running to reformer Pilates, alongside more than 20 years of competitive showjumping.

“The Benefit Nobody Wants to Need” This keynote explores how bereavement exposes a critical employee-benefits blind spot, showing why effective support must combine confident managers, compassionate conversations and practical help with the administration following a death. • • •

Dawn Marriott Bereavement Trainer National Bereavement Service Octopus Legacy

8

Bereavement is a benefits blind spot. One in four employees will experience a bereavement in any 12-month period — yet most EB packages are built around the perks, with little thought for the one thing nobody wants to need. Good support has two halves: emotional and practical. Training that gives managers the confidence to have the conversation matters — but compassion alone doesn’t sort out the estate. The practical admin that follows a death needs its own support. A benefits package is only as good as its worst day. Dental cover and gym membership are easy to get right. The real test of an EB strategy is whether it holds up at the hardest, most human moment an employee will ever bring to their employer.

Dawn Marriott is a bereavement trainer, facilitator and workplace wellbeing speaker with the National Bereavement Service. She delivers practical and compassionate training that helps organisations better understand grief, loss and supportive leadership. With experience across mental health, education, employment services and retail leadership, Dawn brings a relatable and people-focused approach to emotionally sensitive topics. Passionate about encouraging open conversations around bereavement, she works with leaders and teams across sectors to build confidence, communication skills and compassionate workplace cultures. Dawn’s sessions combine practical guidance with real-life insight, helping organisations support employees and customers through difficult experiences with empathy and understanding.

Seminars THURSDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER

14.05 - 14.40

“Beyond the CV: Hiring for Human Skills in the Age of AI” As AI makes every CV and cover letter look polished, how can employers identify the human capabilities that enable people to thrive in a role? Hear Anthony and Assaf explore how AI-powered, scenario-based assessments can reveal the soft skills that traditional recruitment methods often miss. They will discuss how better skills matching can improve performance, shorten onboarding, reduce attrition, and help create a happier, more productive workforce. The conversation will also examine how video and WhatsApp can make employee communications more accessible, improving engagement rates and helping HR teams communicate using the world’s biggest messaging platform.

Anthony Buxton CEO Premier CX Dr Assaf Bar-Moshe Chief Research & Development Officer HiringBranch

Anthony Buxton is CEO of Premier CX, a leading provider of customer and candidate experience solutions to the UK Contact Centre and other industry sectors. With attrition rates in contact centres being amongst the highest in any sector, Premier CX provides a range of solutions from AI soft-skills screeners and assessments; video for recruitment, onboarding & training; and WhatsApp services to reduce this churn and improve candidate and staff experience. Assaf Bar Moshe is a PhD linguist with more than a decade of experience in NLP and AI. Assaf worked as a Linguistic Engineer in start-up companies across the world, developing innovative text and speech analysis applications. Currently serving as the Head of Research and Development Officer at HiringBranch, Assaf leads a dynamic team responsible for the AI engine driving HiringBranch’s language and communication assessments. His work is shaping the future of skills evaluation in HR.

Employers risk undermining benefits investment through lack of employee engagement

M

ore than a third of employers are leaving employees to take the initiative when accessing workplace benefits, potentially limiting the value of benefits programmes for both staff and businesses. Research from group risk industry body GRiD found that 38% of employers rely on employees to initiate benefits take-up themselves. Among these organisations, 49% said they did not want employees to feel pressured into using benefits, while 31% admitted they preferred lower take-up because it helped manage costs. A further 17% said they lacked the resources required to encourage employees to use benefits continually. Separate research among UK workers supports the findings. Some 36% said they were left to initiate benefits take-up themselves, while only 29% reported being actively encouraged by their employer. Nearly a third (31%) were unsure whether their organisation encouraged benefit use at all. Awareness and understanding remain barriers The research also highlights significant gaps in employees’ knowledge of their benefits packages.

10

Just 18% of employees whose organisations provide benefits said they were fully aware of everything available to them, which could include pensions, private healthcare, employee assistance programmes, cash plans, life assurance, long-term sick pay and critical illness cover. Only 18% also said they fully understood all the benefits available to them, while 40% understood only some. Katharine Moxham, spokesperson for GRiD, said leaving employees responsible for take-up could limit awareness and engagement.

The industry body argues that allowing health problems to escalate because employees have not accessed available support could ultimately result in longer absences and greater costs. The findings underline the importance of treating benefits communication as an ongoing part of the employee experience rather than simply an enrolment exercise. With benefits contributing to remuneration, wellbeing and retention, investment in them risks being undermined if employees neither know what is available nor understand how to access it.

“If employers don’t want their staff to overlook the benefits they offer them, we would encourage them to proactively champion their employee benefits programmes,” she said. GRiD also cautioned HR teams against assuming lower utilisation necessarily means lower costs. Benefits supporting health and wellbeing can potentially help reduce absence and improve productivity, while some support provided through group risk products is available without additional costs when employees use it.

New report reveals motherhood penalty continues to undermine workforce retention

P

regnancy discrimination, unaffordable parental leave and rising childcare costs continue to force thousands of women out of the workforce, according to one of the UK’s largest studies into pregnancy, parenthood and employment.

Flexible working also remains a significant issue. Despite growing recognition of its importance for employee retention and wellbeing, many parents continue to report having requests refused, making it harder to balance work with caring responsibilities.

Produced by campaign group Pregnant Then Screwed in partnership with Women in Data, the State of the Nation 2026 report draws on responses from more than 5,000 women to examine the realities of balancing work and family life across the UK.

Childcare affordability and availability were identified as further barriers to workforce participation. The research found that childcare costs continue to influence whether mothers return to work, pursue career progression or even decide to have more children. Even where families can afford childcare, many struggle to find provision that aligns with working hours or supports children with additional needs.

The findings highlight the ongoing challenge of attracting, retaining and progressing female talent, with the report arguing that the ‘motherhood penalty’ remains embedded across many workplaces. Nearly three-quarters of mothers surveyed said they had experienced pregnancy or maternity discrimination at work, while more than one in three left their employer after experiencing discrimination. The report also found that financial pressures are preventing many parents from taking the leave they are entitled to. More than four in five mothers who returned to work earlier than planned said they did so because they could not afford to remain on maternity leave.

14

Pregnant Then Screwed says the findings demonstrate that the motherhood penalty is not the result of a single event, but a combination of workplace, economic and social barriers that continue throughout many women’s careers. For employers facing ongoing skills shortages and retention challenges, the report highlights the potential value of reviewing parental leave policies, flexible working practices, childcare support and manager training to create more inclusive workplaces and improve long-term employee retention.

The report suggests the impact is felt most acutely by single parents, disabled parents, parents of disabled children and lower-income families. Nearly one in five single mothers do not return to work following maternity leave, while 16% of mothers caring for disabled children leave the workforce altogether. Researchers also found many women continue to hide fertility treatment, pregnancy loss and abortion from employers due to concerns about workplace repercussions.

Supplier Directory Avilio 07885 559 250 / philippe.masson@aviliogroup.com / aviliogroup.com Most organisations treat productivity and wellbeing as a trade-off: push one, and the other suffers. The results are clear for the participants: -After 1 week: More control -After 2 weeks: Less stressed, More enjoyment -After 3 weeks: Increased Confidence in committing to deadlines -After 4 weeks: More Proactive -After 8 weeks: Second nature We deliver this for large organisations including EF, Argus Media, Bain & Company, ESRI... Pluxee UK 07831 455 942 / chloe.barber@pluxeegroup.com / pluxee.uk When did you last look at what your people are actually using? Not what you offer — what they use. It’s a simple question, and most organisations find it a hard one to answer. That gap is usually where the value goes. The Pluxee Employee Experience Platform is a mobile-first app designed around it: everyday value people will genuinely use, through discounts and cashback, recognition that means something, financial wellbeing and optional EAP, online GP and salary sacrifice schemes, (with an admin experience your team won’t dread.) But technology is only ever part of the answer. The rest is understanding your workforce, where your current offer isn’t reaching them, and what would change that. That’s the conversation we’d like to have. Tell us what isn’t working and what you’d love to do if nothing was standing in your way, and we’ll be honest about whether we can help.

Premier CX 07976 938 002 / anthony.buxton@premiercx.oc.uk / premiercx.co.uk Easy-apply bots, AI‑generated CVs and the pressure to hire at pace mean selection decisions are often based on presentation rather than capability. As a result, candidates who look good on paper frequently progress, while those with the strongest real‑world communication skills are often overlooked. This process is driving poor hiring outcomes, high early attrition and wasted recruitment effort. Using proprietary, small language models (SLM), we’re able to assess how candidates communicate, listen, reason and respond under pressure, accurately and consistently predicting future performance, not self‑reported ability. Crucially, we have developed the capability to deliver these assessments directly via WhatsApp. This allows candidates to complete assessments on their preferred channel, while also enabling supporting content such as short videos, feedback and documents to be shared in one place and enhance the candidate experience.

RISE Mutual CIC 07834 959 513 / Clare.King@risemutual.org / risemutual.org For over a decade, RISE has designed and delivered specialist courses aimed at reducing harmful behaviours and tacking complex social challenges. We are experts in behaviour change, with extensive experience navigating the most complex, high-risk, and sensitive interpersonal dynamics. Our work is grounded in a strong belief that lasting change is possible given the right understanding, support, and environment. Our Training & Consultancy pillar translates this expertise into evidence-based interventions that address and minimise the cost of a range of workplace challenges e.g., helping parents thrive in and outside of work, fraud prevention and intervention workshops, non-violent communication skills, and leadership development for thriving cultures – to name a few. Central to our approach is a robust diagnostic assessment. This enables us to identify root causes and tailor interventions that build high-performing, inclusive, and positive workplace cultures, bringing measurable and meaningful impact to the organisations we work with.

Saville Assessment 07990 566 233 / holly.eastwood@savilleassessment.com / savilleassessment.com Every business is built on the quality of its people decisions. Every hire shapes capability. We tell you who will perform before they start, from first sift to final promotion. The result: the right people in the right roles, decisions you can trust, and the biggest return on the most consequential investment your business makes - your people. You don’t always need a team of occupational psychologists to make good talent decisions. You need science that’s already done the hard work for you - clear outputs, fast decisions that are easy to explain - wrapped right across hiring, development and mobility.
