GetCultured From early June through Sun, Aug 19, Amon Carter Museum of American Art (3501 Camp Bowie Blvd, Cultural District, 817-738-1933) will exhibit American Vanguards: Graham, Davis, Gorky, de Kooning and Their Circle, 1927–1942, a collection of more than 60 pieces from a revolutionary period in modern art.

Combining comedy, music, and technology, Blue Man Group has been wowing audiences across the globe for decades and will be at Bass Performance Hall (525 Commerce St, downtown, 817-212-4280) Tue, Jun 26, thru Sun, Jul 1. Arshile Gorky’s “Organization” will be on display at the Carter thru Aug 19 as part of a hyper-modern exhibit.

The acerbic wisdom of legendary Texas pundit Molly Ivins comes to life at Stage West (821 W Vickery Blvd, 817-784-9378). No good ol’ boy is safe in Red Hot Patriot: The Kickass Wit of Molly Ivins thru Sun, Jun 17.

Hanging now thru Wed, Jun 13, at Artspace 111 (111 Hampton St, downtown, 817-692-3228) is new work by Fort Worth artists Michael Bane, who uses painstaking techniques to achieve startling trompe l’oeil effects.

Margaret Engel stars as Texan iconoclast Molly Ivins in Stage West’s new production thru Jun 17.

Hailed as the greatest portrait painter of the 20th century, Lucian Freud (1922-2011) worked from models instead of photographs, and his paintings, honest and visceral, reflect the delicate dance between object and observer. Hanging from Sun, Jul 1, thru Sun, Oct 28, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (3200 Darnell St, Cultural District, 817-738-9215) is Lucian Freud: Portraits, an exhibit of approximately 90 pieces. Fort Worth will be the only U.S. venue.

Get Outside! Five minutes outside is proven to boost your mood. Yes, even if it’s 101 degrees out. So put down the ice cream, put on you big-girl or big-boy pants, uh, we mean “shorts,” and get the hell out into the great wide open. What are you waiting for?!

Go Jump In A Lake

Got kids? Burger’s Lake is more like a giant pool with your favorite toys, including a diving board, trampoline, and more, located at 1200 Meandering Rd, FW.

Gone Fishin’ Lake Worth lifted the consumption ban and hasn’t been fished in a while, so if there is such a thing as shooting fish in a barrel but with a fishing pole instead of, y’know, a gun, then Lake Worth is the place for you.

Don’t Be That Guy (or Girl)

Stay hydrated. Buy a reusable bottle and refill it constantly. Spending even 10 minutes in the Texas summer heat will have your body craving hydration. Why not finally break down and buy a reusable water bottle to avoid contributing to the massive piles of plastic bottles in landfills and to help combat the harmful pollutants released from the production of plastic water bottles? Whether you’re mowing the lawn, exercising, or otherwise adventuring outdoors, the 24-oz. Katadyn Mybottle Purifier Bottle is perfect for you. Available at Backwoods (3212 W 7th St, FW, 817-332-2423), Mybottle lets you drink directly from local water sources. The filter can be used 155 times before a replacement is needed.

In my wallet is a tattered Fat Tire label which I’ve had for 11 years. Ever since my first one, I immediately fell in love with this refreshing ale and the company’s ecoconscience ways. Amongst friends, this label has led to many discussions such as,

“ Is it possible to jump a recycling bin on a banana seat bike?” (Yes, but next time don’t pedal so fast!) Thanks Fat Tire for making recycling and biking so much fun. Frances M. of South Carolina

A lot of people have discovered the tasty joy bottled and canned in Fat Tire Amber Ale. Join them on newbelgium.com and enjoy the ride!
