T
he end of high school is an interesting time when young adults find themselves, reinvent themselves and start to realize the connections they have to the wider community both locally and globally. It has been a rough year and students - especially seniors have learned and grown a lot and will take the experiences of the last year into the future with them. The Fort community of students is full of resiliency, variety and grit and I am humbled to have helped usher another group of young adults into the world to help shape and improve the future that awaits.
Congratulations to all of the Seniors who made it across the finish line, to those who learned about themselves and gained perspective into their interests for the future and to those who are just realizing that they are capable and even though they may need more time are finally ready to commit to themselves and begin the High School wrap up. I look forward to documenting future Senior classes with the amazing journalism students who embarked on the journey with me this year, as well as future Trapper writers to come.

Paul Lopez-Martinez - Writer My name is Paul, I’m a freshman. I’m a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I love cooking and sketching and I’m always open for a chat. :)
Amy Nguyen - Writer I’m a first-generation Vietnamese American in my family and I like to read books for fun. My favorite book is “A Very Large Expanse of Sea” by Tahereh Mafi.
Christian Golden - Writer I’m half black and half Japanese. I enjoy doing sports, especially track and I like being able to do new things.
Alee McQuaid - Writer When I’m not writing for the newspaper, I enjoy spending time with cats and eating Spam-flavored churros.

Special Edition: Prom
Golden Trapper Awards
Hello Trappers! We got to go and photograph prom! We are going to share some conversations, senior plans, fun things, and our favorite photos!
Monday, June 6th
Some of the attendees at prom answered our questions. First, future plans. We got some pretty exciting ones! Many of you are going to college, which is so cool! Kids are going to school for teaching, medical fields, coding, law enforcement and more. Some kids are heading off to play sports in college such as football and basketball. Some kids are going to do construction jobs, there was even an electrician apprenticeship.
Senior Finals Tuesday, June 7th Wednesday, June 8th
We also asked prom attendees about celebration plans. People are finally going on vacation! It’s been harder to do stuff these past couple years, but we are finally venturing out. Students are going to Hawaii, Japan, Greece, Texas, Spain, China, and more!
Senior Awards Wednesday, June 8th
Memorable experiences in these past four years (you know what’s happened) were hard to come by. There were some legit responses, like improvement at football, and a fun experience with swimming, but many were uncertain. One student said “Umm, I grew a beard?” I mean, if that’s what you wanted, congratulations!
