It's been 5 years in the making. Ever since we opened the doors of our venue in the centre of Melbourne, people have asked me: "What's the deal with all of these characters you have on the wall? What about those mystical symbols every where? Why do you have a troll busting out of your wall??"
Well, now you are about to learn the origins of these characters, What started as four short stories I wrote in 2018 to build a foundation for our own Fortress lore, has now morphed into a rich and detailed SF / Fantasy "universe". Heroes, villains, magic, religion, tech...it's all here to explore. Kind of like 'putting a face to a name' for so many fans of Fortress. Never been to Fortress? Not a problem! As a hardcore sci-fi and fantasy fan, my first love has always been heroic tales (and metal)...not necessarily building giant entertainment venues. So I am sure (and hoping) you will love this complex story that tracks Vela's journey from 24th century star-miner to snake-wielding sorceress. In particular, I wanted to establish a world where my characters must learn the hard way, overcome huge odds, resist becoming victims and earn their stripes as badass heroes. There's are not an easy path....so be sure to follow them across the entire 6 issue journey and don't give up. They certainly won’t!

Note on slang, jargon and terminology.
In the 24th century, as well as the weird places Vela finds herself, there are a lot of terms, jargon, and even concepts that are mysterious, and new, to readers like ourselves.
Rather than clutter up the pages with long explanations, I have included a glossary at the back to help you all.
Any time you see a strange word or a concept with an asterisk (*) next to it, know that there'll be an explanation at the back in the glossary!
