Tomorrow is Made

SEIZE TODAY

Here, we believe the future is made by individuals with the determination and innovative spirit to turn challenges into opportunities. The caring people of this remarkable university are fully committed to the vital role they play in transforming lives and developing the engaged global citizenleaders that will shape the world of tomorrow. I hope that as you thumb through the pages of this viewbook you will begin to imagine yourself reflected in the pages of this viewbook and can begin to see all the exciting possibilities that await you. Can you see yourself cheering on Tiger Football and Soccer teams to an MIAA Championship? Just imagine yourself rolling up your sleeves and serving the community alongside peers who share your desire to give back. Can you picture yourself working in an undergraduate research laboratory or showing up for the first day for the internship of your dreams? This is a place where you can discover your calling, create lifelong friendships, and prepare for a rich personal and professional life after you graduate. The FHSU experience can be your launching point for the tomorrow you will make.

My personal journey started in high school in a single-parent home. My senior guidance counselor attempted to shatter my dream of going to college when he told me I wasn’t smart enough and didn’t have enough money to think about college. My mother was furious, and she convinced me that “anything is possible if you work hard and focus on taking things one day at a time.” She was right, and like my mother, I believe in the potential of each of our students and celebrate with pride and passion every success. I believe there is no limit to what you can achieve in college, and in the life that awaits you after graduation. You have what it takes to be a Tiger. I look forward to welcoming you to Hays and the Tiger family. Kind Regards,

Tisa Mason President of Fort Hays State University

SUPPORT

“When I first visited FHSU, it felt like home. I have that kind of support not only from my friends, but from faculty and staff. My education teachers are very open and they are here for you. I know I can talk to them anytime about anything and if I ever need help, their door will be open. I participated in a teacher education learning community and the 40 Days at the Fort when I came to FHSU and loved it so much that we created a learning community 2.0. We gained so much from sharing our experiences and taking classes together that we didn’t want it to end. I know when we all graduate and have our own classrooms, we will still be close friends and continue sharing ideas, resources and lots of laughs for years to come.” SYDNEY SIMMONS Elementary Education
