COLONEL TIMOTHY P. BARRON C

olonel Timothy Barron was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania in 1967. He is the son of John and Elizabeth Barron, with sisters Judy and Kathleen Barron. He graduated from Central Bucks East High School in 1986. He completed a Bachelor of Arts with double majors in Biology and Sociology at Bucknell University then graduate school at Hahnemann University with a Medical Science Track in Physiology followed by Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Colonel Barron completed his medical internship at Madigan Army Medical Center (AMC) in 1996 and his emergency medicine residency at University of Washington/Madigan AMC in 2000.

Prior to active duty service, Colonel Barron completed Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Bucknell University, Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA, and Advanced Camp Reserve Officer Training Corps at Fort Bragg, KY. In 1996 he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and Branched as an Armor officer. He was accepted to grad school and transferred to the Medical service Corps. His military education and training also include US Army Armor Officer Basic Course, Fort Knox, KY. During 19951996 he completed Combat Casualty Care Course, Camp Bullis, TX, US Army Medical Officer Basic Course, Fort Sam Houston, TX and US Army Flight Surgeons course, Fort Rucker, AL. Colonel Barron began his medical service as a Flight Surgeon with the 1/52nd Aviation Battalion, Sung Nam, ROK. His next assignment was to Tripler Army Medical Center where he served as a staff physician and of the OIC Acute Illness Clinic then Chief of Emergency Medicine from 2000-2003. His next assignment brought him to DeWitt Army Community Hospital (DACH) as Chief, Department of Emergency Medicine from 2003-2011. While at DACH, he also served as Operational Medical Director of the Fort Belvoir EMS from 2003-2009. With the closing of DACH in 2011 and the opening of Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH), Colonel Barron continued as Chief, Department of Emergency Medicine. During his years at FBCH, he has held a number of positions and assignments. These include Joint Task Force Chief, DEM FBCH, 2010-2014; Chief Medical Officer, FBCH, 2018-2019; Product Line Lead, Emergency Medicine, NCR, 2018-2021; Chair, Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, FBCH, 2016-2018; and US Army Office of the Surgeon General, Safety Office Emergency Medicine SME, 2015-2021. His deployments include Emergency Medicine Staff 47th Combat Support Hospital, Tikrit, Iraq, 2005-2006; Flight Surgeon 101st AVN, 96th ASB, COB Speicher, 2005-2006; Theater Consultant for Emergency Medicine OIF, TF 28th CSH, Chief ED, 2009-2010; and Senior Medical Officer, Task Force Platinum, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, 2012-2013.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Navy Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), National Defense Service Medal (with two oak leaf clusters), Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon and Iraq Campaign Ribbon (with two oak leaf clusters), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Ribbon, Korea Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (with four stars). He is a recipient and member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3) and was awarded the Medical Director of the Year Award in 2013 by the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Colonel Barron has resided in Alexandria, VA for the past 18 years with his wife, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Amy Asato, and his daughters, Molly (18), a freshman at Temple University and Clara (16), a high school junior now at Pennridge High School in Perkasie, PA. He and his family are transitioning to his native Pennsylvania where they will continue to cheer on their beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
