A Kind of Movement at Be Kind Coffee Co.
BY DENISE HEIDEL

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of
kindness is on her tongue.” (Proverbs 31:26)
There’s a local coffee shop in Clemmons whose specialty goes well beyond brewing excellent cups of coffee and creating signature lattes. At Be Kind Coffee Co., kindness is an add-on bonus with every cup. As a coffee company built on Proverbs 31:26 and the motto “be kind,” owners Natalie and Amanda Gogolak have spent their first year in business inspiring Clemmons’ coffee-enthusiasts to do just that – be kind. According to this mother-daughter duo – “be kind” is a family motto.
The team at Be Kind Coffee Co. has opened opportunities for others to pay it forward and give back to others, as well as set the example for what it means to live a life based on service and a think-of-others attitude. It’s the perfect place to visit to lift your spirits, experience a word of encouragement, and receive (or give!) a bit of kindness.
In 2021, their kindness touched so many through the Giving Tree, a year-round fixture in their shop. Their efforts to support others have included:
• Silver Stocking Project: Basic Care Items for Nursing Home/
Assisted Living Residents • Pajama Drive with Spark Community of Winston-Salem • Suicide Prevention Fundraiser with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
• Gabby Kozlowski’s St. Jude Fundraiser • Officer Teresa’s ALS Fundraiser
• Swim Smart NC Fundraiser
• Ina’s Alzheimer’s Fundraiser
• Cupcakes for Healthcare Heroes
By encouraging their customers to “be a blessing,” they have made an impact on our community and brought awareness to very specific needs that may otherwise go unnoticed. 2022 promises more of the same at Be Kind Coffee Co. With a loyal following that continues to grow, Natalie and Amanda have started a “kind” of movement that shows no signs of slowing down or stopping.
If you haven’t stopped by Be Kind Coffee Co. yet – go. You’ll soon discover why it’s become a community favorite.
Be Kind Coffee Co. is located at 3560 Clemmons Road, Suite B in Clemmons. Call the store at 336.893.9892, or email them at info@bekindcoffeeco.com. Also, be sure to like Be Kind Coffee Co. on Facebook and follow them on Instagram!
The Gogolak Family recently celebrated their first anniversary with an official ribbon cutting. “In preparing for our oneyear celebration,” Amanda explained, “Mom and I went through photos of the last year. It was amazing! What started as a pop-up tent in the parking lot has grown beyond our expectations! We have expanded our outdoor patio and are currently expanding our store, too! The community has been so supportive, and we are blessed beyond measure!”
Be Kind Coffee Co. has quickly become “THE” spot to hang out in Clemmons! With local artisans and musicians frequently featured and promoted on their social media channels – many have found a favorite place to hang out at Be Kind Coffee Co. Some of the feedback includes:
“Be kind is such a cute little coffee shop! Whenever I’m in the Clemmons area, I always love to stop by and get a drink! The staff is always super nice and friendly. I can feel the smile they give me through the mask.” ~ Wade L.
“This is the cutest little coffee shop! The coffee and pastries are delicious, loved the decor!” ~ Ana L.
“Fantastic atmosphere and staff! Best coffee shop in town. Highly recommended to anyone in the area. You won’t regret stopping by for a cup of Joe or one of their incredible baked goods.” ~ Jon P.
“Kindest people and best coffee around! Super cute shop too with a patio.” ~ Kathleen E.

“SURFACES AND SOUNDINGS” EXHIBITION BY BOB
KING Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts in W-S. Bob King’s Surfaces and Soundings is an exhibition that combines examples from two current bodies of work – Phenoumena (paintings) and Earthwork (sculpture). The artist intends that the works on exhibit hover between abstraction and representation, ideation and perception, and he invites viewers to enter into dialogue with the works, gather their own perceptions, and form their own associations, interpretations, and narratives. King currently resides in Winston-Salem and completed his PhD in cultural studies/education at UNC-Greensboro. The heart of his artistic process is the dialogue between materials and memories inspired by the human form and solitude in nature.
