Family Time

begins the moment you decide to have a baby and continues for a lifetime. We want to be part of your family by providing personalized pregnancy care that offers safety, security, and the amenities to recognize this amazing time in your life.

Discussing your preferences, and the experience you want, will help you choose the hospital and the medical professionals that are right for you.

See the next page for questions to ask your provider when developing a birth plan.

Here are some questions to ask when deciding what clinical support is right for you.

• Do you have someone I can talk with when I have questions? How do I access that service?

• What specialists do you have on staff?

• What types of birthing experiences do you provide? What if I change my mind while I’m in labor?

• Do you offer any special amenities? What are they and are they included in my fees or do I need to pay for them separately?

• What considerations do you have to support my cultural requests?

• When should I choose a pediatrician for my child?

• How do you support my breastfeeding choices?

• What type of classes do you offer? Are they in person, online, video, or a combination?

• What do you do if my delivery becomes complicated for me or my baby? How quickly can you provide or access specialized care such as a C-section or a NICU (neonatal intensive care unit)?

• What policies and procedures do you have to ensure that my baby is safe when in the hospital?

• What is your C-section rate?

• How experienced are your birth teams?

• How can I connect with mental health care if I’m experiencing stress or depression before or after my birth?
