FAIR OAKS RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S MEETINGS Next Meeting: 11/18/2020 The Park Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm in Village Hall, 7997 California Avenue. You are always welcome to attend in person or via zoom (currently all meetings are being held via zoom). For an up-to-date schedule and agenda, please visit forpd.org. Please contact the Administrative Office prior to attending to confirm, as Board meeting dates and times are subject to change.

Designs for the Village Park project have been returned from the county with comments and are being reviewed by District personnel. Currently they are considered to be at 65% and will need to be updated and returned to County design review. The Amphitheater design is likewise progressing through County design review. Construction is still expected to begin in the first half of 2021.

Construction for Jim Streng Park is awaiting a final construction timeline based on Covid-19 related delays with County design review; however, District staff estimates that construction will begin soon.

THANKFUL FAIR OAKS November 1, 2020 - November 21, 2020

As we near the end of 2020, we begin to reflect on a vastly different year than we imagined 2020 to be. We began the year believing 2020 would be the year of vision – at least that was the catch phrase. Perhaps even with all the uncertainty this year has brought, that is exactly what we were given: a year of reminders and reflections of what is really most important. This is the focus of our #THANKFULFAIROAKS campaign. Over the next three weeks, we invite you to submit what you are most thankful for this year. In the next Activity Guide we will dedicate a page to Thankful Fair Oaks to reflect on all the good that 2020 brought. Photos and memories submitted may be used for advertising or in promotional materials for the celebration and may be printed or shared online and over social media. We hope you will join us as we celebrate the past, present, and future of our wonderful community! Submit your words and photos of gratitude here: www.forpd.org/thankfulfairoaks

Ages: 10+ Fee: $83 Drop In: $15 (must register in advance) Location: Phoenix Park Dog Park

Scent work is a positive and challenging activity that allows dogs the opportunity to use their strongest natural sense in a way that is fun, engaging, and builds a strong foundation of trust between handler and dog. Teaching your dog scent work can build their confidence, reduce stress, and of course eliminate boredom.

Canine puzzles and trick training is a great way to work a dog's mind and senses, helping them learn and practice problem solving, while stimulating their environment and reducing stress. It is important for dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds to have mental stimulus, not just physical exercise. More then half of behavioral problems come from boredom. After all, a tired dog is a good dog.
