CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTS GRANT FOR POLICE VEHICLE UPGRADES
City Council approved a resolution accepting grant funding for Police Bullet-Resistant Components for Law Enforcement Vehicles. The Office of the Governor awarded the Forney Police Department $157,875 to equip patrol vehicles with enhanced bullet-resistant components. No local match is required for this grant.
COUNCIL APPROVES MULTIPLE COMMERCIAL SITE PLANS
Council approved several commercial site plans, including Dick’s Sporting Goods (north of U.S. Highway 80 and west of North Gateway Boulevard), Discount Tire (north of U.S. Highway 80 and east of Cypress Hollow Drive), Navy Federal Credit Union (west of Trailhouse Lane and north of U.S. Highway 80), Taco Bell (east side of North F.M. 548 and south of Ridgecrest Road), Covenant Dental (north of the F.M. 548 and F.M. 741 intersection), Tiger Spa Car Wash (west of S. F.M. 548 and east of Forney Community Park), and Ace Hardware (east of Lakewood Trail and north of South F.M. 741).
COUNCIL TABLES EMS SERVICES CONTRACT DISCUSSION
City Council discussed a proposed contract for EMS services. The City issued an RFP for EMS services for both the City of Forney and ESD #6, seeking proposals that meet required response-time performance standards. Proposals were due October 27, 2025, and the Proposal Evaluation Committee reviewed and interviewed proposers on November 3 before submitting a recommendation through the Fire Chief to Council. After discussion, Council voted to table the item until the December 2 meeting to allow additional time to review the data and proposals.
COUNCIL APPROVES KCAD BOARD VOTING RESOLUTION
Council approved a resolution casting the City’s 105 allotted votes for the Kaufman Central Appraisal District Board of Directors. These votes help determine who oversees the appraisal district that values all taxable property in Kaufman County. The City will split its votes between the two incumbent candidates, awarding 53 votes to Dr. Bruce Wood and 52 votes to Mr. Danny Kirbie, as reflected on the approved ballot.
