Botanical BEAUTY
T
he popularity of green and that of nature shows no sign of abating when decorating. The outdoors is coming in so embellish your home with botanical-inspired pieces that combine beautifully with indoor foliage, both real and fake.
Green is arguably the most natural of colours and delicious dark green is ideal for the adventurous decorator. A heady mix of rich colour, rustic materials, flowers and luxurious velvet packs a powerful punch. Dramatic and sophisticated, it has a relaxed feel and transports the mind to far-off places – with no passport required! Trafalgar sofa. £999. Many other designs are available.
Glorious bursts of nature through cool, contemporary patterns featuring flora, fauna and even monkeys, will energise a space. The trend for richly coloured velvet fabrics continues to be popular. Velvet injects glamour and creates a modern, fresh feel that is both chic and cosy. Whether it’s over-scaled florals, exotic animals and birds, bold stripes or geometrics, you can find any colourful pattern to adorn your home at Holloways. Go green! Velvet George sofa from £1,820

Meet the
H -Team
In this issue, the spotlight is on Holloways General Manager, Alison Huband. Name: Alison Huband Home: Stockton-on-Teme with my partner Mark and our daughter Isabelle. Job title: General Manager. Are you a local girl? I am indeed! I was born and bred in Suckley – a farmer’s daughter. In fact, my Dad was Suckley Parish Council Chairman for over 50 years! What does your job involve? It is a new position, established last year, which I would best describe as ‘helping with change’. I have fingers in many pies. Areas include HR, payroll, health & safety and IT. I am the ‘go to’ person if Ed and Di are not around. I have been at Holloways for three and a half years. What were you doing before? I worked for Boots and Vax in operations and general manager roles. Joining Holloways was quite a career change? It was, but I am a family girl and I wanted a better work/life balance. I was travelling to Birmingham every day and I was on call at all hours. When I saw a job advertised at Holloways, I leapt at the opportunity and I can honestly say, it is the best thing I ever did. Working here is like coming home. What do you like about Holloways? The setting and the atmosphere. Having come from large, and admittedly successful companies, where you all work independently, this is so different. Here people matter, we work as a team and the personal touch permeates through everything. Everyone is looked after and you are never on your own. I never feel that I don’t want to go to work.

pieces with poppies. I also set cremation ashes in rings and these are particularly special as they mean so much to people. Wow, that sounds super but quite full on? It is but it is my ‘me time’, my switch off between working and being a mum. I create at least one piece a week. Everything is made to order and can be personalised. How do you sell it? I do have a Facebook page, @ featuringnaturejewellery and a lot is word of mouth. What is your home like? I live in a barn conversion that is 275 years old. It has lots of character. My style is traditional. I am not a modern interiors girl. Favourite Food: A Sunday roast, ideally pork with lots of crackling!! Favourite Drink: Gin & tonic. Holidays? We have a caravan in North Cornwall where we do a lot of coastal walks. I also love skiing, particularly in Austria, but we haven’t been since I had Isabelle and I would love to take her. If you could buy one item in Holloways, what would it be? The Sheldrake dining table. It is beautiful, has a lovely finish and I can envisage happy family times around it.

What makes Holloways so popular? It is a real destination. Once you have experienced it, you can’t help but tell others. Looking at it with my professional hat on, I have to say that we are always looking one step ahead and everything is planned and considered. You don’t see us make knee jerk reactions.
Outside of work, what do you get up to? My real passion is making jewellery – but slightly different jewellery! I love nature and I incorporate it, be it flowers or plants, into rings, pendants, bracelets or ear rings. For instance, in November I do a lot of

ccording to recent research, 37% of people think that the sofa is the most important piece of furniture in their home.
Loose covers tend to look informal and are often popular with young families or families with pets as the covers are easy to remove and clean. There is no compromise on quality, aesthetics or comfort. Removable covers give a sofa a relaxed slouchy look.
