In this issue, the spotlight is on Sarah Campbell, one of our Interior sales advisors.
Name: Sarah Campbell
Away from work, what do you get up to? I love the outdoors, walking my dogs and gardening. I was born and bred locally, and I am very much a country girl through and through.
Home: Castle Frome with my two dogs, Kit and Roo and my rescue cat Beau. Organising doggy day care is a military operation, especially as I live in the middle of nowhere, but we get there!
Favourite food? Italian, without a shadow of a doubt. Risotto, with lashings of mascarpone and parmesan for a calorie busting meal!
When did you join Holloways? 31st March 2017 What were you doing before? I worked for a local heating company as a receptionist and administrator.
Favourite drink? Prosecco and Amaretto.
This is a bit different? It is, but cushions and throws are more my thing than boilers and stoves! Also, it is in my genes. Both my parents were artists and I got an Arts degree in Illustration from the University of Westminster so it is nice to join the dots and unite my experience and interests. What do you like about Holloways? The camaraderie among the staff. They really are a lovely group of people. We all spend so much time at work that who you work with is so important – almost more so than the job. What is your home like? I live in a cottage that would have been an old farmer’s cottage. As it is rented, I am limited as to what I can do to put my stamp on it other than the furnishings – and I have so many scatter cushions my old house mate begged me to stop buying them. She said it was impossible to sit down! What is your personal style? I love old houses and buildings. As for décor, it must be Boho for an eclectic look. I should have been born in the 60’s – there is a hippie in me somewhere!
Favourite Country? Not surprisingly, Italy! Tuscany in particular. What makes a good interior designer? Vision and the ability to think slightly ‘out of the box’. You also must be a good listener as you need to interpret what clients want. What are the trends right now? An autumnal palette of ochre, terracotta and rust, with a touch of teal and navy. In furniture, rattan is huge – and not just for garden rooms. How do you keep up with interiors trends? I buy home interest magazines like Living Etc and Elle Decoration. If you could buy one item in Holloways, what would it be? The Long Island sofa from Neptune. Luxury meets practicality and it is exceptionally comfortable. As a dog lover, I especially like the fact it has loose covers so is low maintenance.

hether you are country or urban dwellers, a relaxed country inspired style is a perennial favourite for creating a classically cosy feel. At its heart, you will find soft, relaxed muted colours and materials which reflect nature.
Sometimes a room just needs ‘a lift’ with a piece of striking art.
Today, a new look is bringing a twist to stylish interiors by teaming ‘old’ antique (and often inherited) pieces of furniture with contemporary upholstery. The result is a cohesive and calm feel which is beautiful, relaxing and very personal. Here, the exposed brickwork and high ceiling of a converted hop kiln helps set the scene. The contrast between the plain wall and the attractively patterned sofa and chair gives the scheme a fresh edge. Shown here in a zig zag pattern, a design classic, the British made Hobbs sofa, with its simple lines, is effortlessly elegant and can be upholstered in any fabric. From time immemorial, the inhabitants of the Outer Hebrides have woven a beautiful cloth known worldwide as Harris Tweed. A luxury fabric, with timeless quality, it is very hard wearing and stain repellent – truly of its time. The fabric is used on these British made sofas. The look is tonal and interest is increased by splashes of colour in the accessories and the textures of the scatter cushions and throws. The Glencoe and Dalmore sofas are made for sinking into, while a smart footstool, which is highly practical if you use trays, ensures an inviting space.
Add contrasting cushions and throws in rich rust and foxy russet hues for a warm, ‘cosy by the fire’ feel.

Spanish-style eating has never been more popular – and we have introduced Tapas on Thursday evenings from 5.30 – 8pm.Try our menu designed by renowned Michelin-starred chef Patrick McDonald which features some trusty favourites and some personal creations. Our special ingredients are sourced through a Spanish supplier who imports fresh produce weekly from Barcelona. Wash them down with a glass of robust Spanish red or fruity white wine or even a speciality gin? Come and join us on Thursday evenings. Olé olé!

We visited to try their ‘Ta pas Nights’, recently started on a Th ursday evening. We ordered most things from the menu – we will try the rest ne xt time. The food was delicious, we partic ularly loved the anchovies which are usually not to everyone’s taste. They replenished the bread basket, lovely bre ad, no wonder we ate our way through 2 baskets. Oh must not forget the staff were really lovely.
The Sanctuary at Holloways is a purpose-built Hair and Beauty Salon. It offers a variety of treatments including hair styling, colouring and intensive treatments. It is headed up by experienced stylist Kayleigh McGovern who joined from a well-known salon in Malvern. Kayleigh has 15 years’ experience and is always upping her skills set. She recently went on a course in Italy run by Sens. Us, a leading hair product manufacturer. Haircuts start from £35 and consultations are free.
