Slow Cooker Spaghetti
SLOW COOKER SPAGHETTI
It's not an original recipe but a favorite, and we wanted to share it with you. It's a pretty straight forward recipe that uses your slow cooker.
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 Tbs. Olive oil • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage or ground meat (beef, turkey, or chicken)
• 1-8 oz. package of sliced mushrooms
• 1/2 onion, finely diced • 1 Tbs. Minced fresh garlic • 1/2 tsp. Salt
• 1 - 14.5 oz. can of diced tomatoes (drained)
• 2 - 24 oz. jars of your favorite spaghetti sauce
• 1 & 1/4 cups water
• 1 pound dry spaghetti noodles • Grated Parmesan cheese and/or Mozzarella as desired
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add meat, mushrooms, onion, garlic, and salt. Cook, stirring frequently, and break up the meat until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain off the fat. Stir in the diced tomatoes.
2. Pour one jar of the spaghetti sauce and the water into the bottom of the slow cooker. Break the noodles in half and place them on top of the sauce.
3. Add the cooked meat mixture to the slow cooker, sprinkle with parmesan cheese, and pour the second jar of sauce on top. Cover and cook on HIGH for 1 1/2 - 3 hours or on LOW for 4-6 hours. Stir periodically.
Toss all the ingredients once more and serve.
