FOREST RIDGE
THE SACRED HEART SCHOOL OF SEATTLE
Dear Forest Ridge Community, The academic year, 2019-2020, was one of profound change both at Forest Ridge and in the world. As I watched our community come together under extraordinary circumstances, I am inspired and heartened by its resilience and creativity. As an alumna, I find myself drawing on the strength of our founding mothers and their pioneering spirit. I feel confident St. Madeleine Sophie’s example of unwavering perseverance and faith have prepared us for moments like these. To highlight some of Forest Ridge’s accomplishments during these historic times, I credit our new Head of School, Mary Rose Guerin. She began her first year at Forest Ridge with a strong vision and commitment to Sacred Heart values. She brought fresh energy with her strong conviction that girls’ education is more important today than ever. In addition, parents showed their enthusiasm for Forest Ridge through their involvement and support of the many events on campus, culminating with the hugely successful House Party on the Ridge, our last in-person event before the pandemic forced the school to transition to remote learning.
Forest Ridge Strong Annual Report 2019-2020
The Board of Trustees and Mary Rose, along with the faculty and staff, worked tirelessly to meet the challenges of COVID-19 while keeping everyone’s safety as the priority. The School has shown it can pivot when needed to continue providing an excellent, studentcentered education to its students and families. I am truly proud of what we as a community accomplished; the discovery of new ways to teach and learn through remote instruction, launching the Sacred Heart Global Academy that brought together students from China, Chicago and Bellevue, new ways to perform and create art and even new ways to have fun as we did at our outdoor movie night in October. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank each of you for your shared commitment to Forest Ridge. Your generosity makes a profound difference for our students and our School. I eagerly await the day when we are all enjoying campus activities and the School comes alive again with the optimism of youth. With sincere appreciation,
Chair, Board of Trustees
