I found this quote about winning: The definition of being a winner is taking 8 strokes to get to the green and one putting. That’s a winner! Keep up the good work!

9 Hole Ladies Golf News by

amy.jung@att.net

Come rain or come shine, the Nine Hole Ladies are on the course. Despite the dismal forecast the rain did not fall on our Spring Opener. Barb Nance and Tina Vierling gave us a charming theme of Pearls, Putts, and Polka Dots. The day included a wicked wicket putting challenge, friendly foursomes, and a lovely lunch. The wonderful winners are:

FIRST PLACE

Sandy Schwartz

Patti MacDoniels

Barb Nance

Maureen Roth

SECOND PLACE

Sally Sprowls

Ellie Yuska

Talie Manning

Val Giglio

THIRD PLACE

Pam Thelen

Laurie Dolson

Karen Peters

Beth Lastrina

However the rain couldn’t stay away from the Nine Hole bring a friend, but the fifteen-minute drenching didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. It was a lovely, low-key outing that allowed our guests to enjoy Forest Hills’ back nine.

What’s up next: New this year is a PAR THREE SCRAMBLE on June 1st (includes the 9- and 18-Hole women’s groups). FLAG DAY is June 15th. On June 29th don’t forget to show your American spirit by wearing red, white and blue.

Banter about the Nine-Hole Course: Scorecards always seem to be a topic of conversation. The pro shop will post our scores on scheduled nine-hole Thursdays. When a player hits her max score, she should pick up and note PU on her scorecard. If for some reason the player putts out and is over her max, her actual strokes should be noted on her scorecard. GHIN will automatically correct the strokes to the player’s max when the score is posted.
